Surely we should be looking into Ronaldo. With the Cavani news especially, send him or Martial the other direction and everyone's happy.

Unless Ole thinks Martial should be our forward this season....

If you followed Ronaldo closely at Juve, should we be worried about him joining City?
Yes.

I watch a lot of Serie A and, due to them signing Arthur, a lot of Juve last season. People are mistaken if they think he won't contribute to Citys general play. He's obviously not at 06/07 or 07/08 levels, but he can still hold his own at the top level.

So have you seen the numbers he posted last season? Have you seen the amount of money we've wasted on utter shit? All of a sudden money becomes an issue? That's before we even begin to factor in his value off the pitch. Yes when a player has over 500 million followers on social media, that makes a huge difference to any team that signs him. Forget shirt sales, he will add value instantly. 500k per week is pocket money when you consider what the likes of De Gea on and what they bring to our team on and off the pitch.
Juventus was hardly a world beating side last season and he brings in an urgency to win things immediately, make short term decisions to keep him happy etc. It forces the club to accelerate its planning, no patience for learning mistakes for younger players etc. United hardly need a social media boost, they already have more than enough there. A Messi adds more of that to a team like PSG, who were yearning for attention. United are always in the center of attention, whether good or bad.

I’m honestly not bothered at all with the prospect of him going to city. From a loyalty standpoint United fans have a weird obsession with Ronaldo, United was always just a stepping stone to Madrid for him and all his loyalty was to Ferguson not United.

I honestly don’t think he’d make much difference to us when it comes to challenging for trophies. Maybe if we had a better midfield but we don’t so I’d much rather us address that.

Hes still an elite poacher. Man City need an elite poacher. On the pitch, he literally ticks the box of what they need in attack. Someone to be a threat off the ball, make the runs in behind and find open space. Not to mention his big game mentality and record, and CL pedigree. So on the pitch, yes.

Off the pitch it's a nightmare. This gets them fame in a way no other signing could. It gets them one over United. It pushes United down and cements them at the top in terms of current reputability. It's a slow transition turning into a big club, you always need a lot of convincing to get fans and all that, but a signing like Ronaldo is a big step that would otherwise be impossible.
There is no playbook to become an elite sides and signing aging stars for credibility never works out.

It's pretty safe to say they are already a big club. Once they got Pep, they got the nod.

Fame? For getting one over on us for signing a 36 year old Ronaldo?!
It just cements their place in history as a "oil money club".
Buying fame doesn't actually get you the fame you want.

Current reputability - i'd say us getting Sancho will give us more reputability then Ronaldo.

Elite poacher? He takes care of his body, i'd give him that. Does he have what it takes still?
Can't say i'm convinced.

Haven't watched Juve, the last i saw of him was at the Euros, and boy was he bad.
Yeah, top scorer and all that, but the whole team - including Bruno (who was also atrocius) was suffering.

I don't want to see that happening to us.
City on the other hand, sure, feck them up. Feck their wage structure, feck their ego changing room,......not to mention the free kicks....

It‘s not a questionof beeing worried, we won’t compete with City for the title anyway. It is just that he would help us out a lot in terms of goalscoring and we can‘t afford to miss out

Why on earth would Juve be happy to get Martial, are their board members and coaching staff all addicted to Fifa Ultimate team or something?

“Manufactured rivalry”

Tell me you’ve never been to Manchester without saying you’ve never been to Manchester.

edit - I posted it and removed. Suffice to say that whole "not in manchester" thing doesn't apply

what is the cavani news?
That if he travels for Uruguay's upcoming friendlies, he's basically unavailable for us until November, due to quarantine guidelines.

It does make me laugh though that people have seen a couple of reports without any real substance and are now trying to ship out one of our top performers from last season

What’s amusing to me is that anytime the possibility has been raised off him coming to United, over the last 3-4 years many screamed that he was finished. Now it’s looking universal that people want him back

Personally love Cavani, his goals contributed a lot last season. But if this is the case, then he's missing A LOT of games and a swap for Ronaldo would make sense..

 Fair enough, poor call on my part. I’m still not getting the “manufactured rivalry” thing though, every City fan I know hates United with a passion.

I think it's arguable that since he left, now is the team we need him the least.

That's probably poorly worded but hopefully it makes enough sense for people to understand what I mean

He is still a beast player but he is not the same player he was and that's ok since he will still bang 20+ goals per season. That's impressive taking into consideration his age.

It's a bit harsh to call a player that scored 100+ goals in 130 games, finished.

Him up front, supported by Greenwood right, Sancho left, Bruno on 10, Pog behind. No one can deny that this is 1000 times better than switching arround beetween a 4/10 Martial and a part-time employee called Cavani.
Ronnie is still shredded as hell, never injured, never lacks focus

I don't mind him going to City. It was clear that he did not care about this club that much ever since the last phrases of 2008 season anyway. City will milk it all the way though. This is like a peasant marrying royal girl for them.

I don't really want him back, but I don't really want him at City either. Meh.

he’s not coming here; we don’t want him and he doesn’t want us. Just bittersweet that he’s going to city; personally my love for him is now gone- but that’s life. Think what he does for them off the pitch is more damaging than what he will do for them on it- this is a huge signing for them statement wise. Winning the title will be all the more sweet now. Lets hope we can get it done !
