Haha I remember watching a highlight vid of him looking like prime Scholes when we were linked and getting excited. It's amazing how deceptive youtube reels can be.
Tbh he looked really good in the games I saw before he ruptured his ACL and never recovered.

Manchester United are being heavily linked with a move for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ponders whether to bolster his forward line. The Sunday Times have reported that United have moved for the 24-year-old after holding interest for some time with Pepe's club valuing him at around £70m.21. jul. 2019

Alexis Sanch... oh wait.

Nico Gaitan, Ezequiel Garay, Sean Longstaff, Gareth Bale (cca 2018).

What a throwback! Does Nicolas Gaitan count? :wenger: I think we dodged a bullet massively with Alvaro Morata, I remember there was a debate between who is the better striker between him and Romelu Lukaku and if Chelsea or us got the better deal, because Morata would fit our style better. I know Lukaku isn't well liked by the fanbase but there is no doubt he was a much more better signing in terms of his goals output for his transfer value.

Ronaldinho.

We went on to sign Cristiano later...
Or maybe we'd have signed both, gotten Dinho's Ballon d'Or-worthy years, sold him to Real for a world record fee in 2006 and kept Ronaldo for even longer?

We had an agreement to sign Cristiano in 2004 or 2005 with sporting. We had to rush the signing as there were teams moving in for him that year. We signed Ronaldo for 12m pounds.

Ronaldinho was signed for 30million euros. I highly doubt we would have had any more money to sign Cristiano if we had signed Ronaldinho.

If Mourinho had his way we'd have threads for Danny Rose and Eric Dier, praying the club were able to offload them this summer.

Dennis Zakaria was supposedly the holy grail for years and we were mad not to be signing him. He can’t even get on the Switzerland team. And they play Granit Xhaka. I wouldn’t be surprised if this lad from Monaco is another nobody’s seen outside of You Tube and has become the second coming.
I thought he was going to be so brilliant and wanted to sign him.

Rivaldo in 99.

I remember some news about United offering a lot of money + Giggs to Barcelona, Rivaldo alone wasn't worth a huge bid from 00's onwards with his constant injury struggles and his level, but if you compare his club career after 99' to Giggs... it would've been a huge blunder.

Rivaldo to United was NEVER on the cards let alone a money plus Giggs exchange!!

Fergie was willing to let Scholes go to Inter in 2000 though to fund a move for Barcelona's Figo.

Griezmann would have been class here IMO. He was just never a fit for a side that plays through Messi. A bit of a diva but his quality is unquestionable.

I actually think the Zlatan injury and Atletico transfer ban that seen us focus on Lukaku was the beginning of the end for Jose.

Also think Perisic mentions are ridiculous. If anything our fanbase hilariously underrated him. Would have been a better option than Martial, especially in a Mourinho side. Willian otoh was definitely a bullet dodged.

David Hirst. Pretty good striker, mind, but his body started falling apart the time Fergie made offers for him. Then, one little call from Leeds...
Words right out of my mouth..!!
How much did that one phone call change history...?

Koulibaly for me, never understood the hype for him. Anyway seems the hype has died and with it Napoli's astronomical valuation.
