I'm really not enjoying this.. there seem to be a lot more unforced errors from Djokovic than good winners from Medvedev.
Medvedev has been playing incredibly safe, taunting Djokovic to try and force a winner and it’s paid off because the unforced errors have clearly ground him down

It's smart from Medvedev, he doesn't need to be taking as many risks

The end of Novak Djokovic as the dominant force in Tennis. He's looked totally out of sorts and a start of a decline

Which in fairness happens to all the best

It's a reason I believe Djoko doesn't much enjoy facing Medvedev. It's like facing a younger and less agile version of himself. The guy can serve huge and he retrieves a lot of balls and just counter punches very very well.

This is astonishing. Russian hasn't even played well in this set, Djoko has lost every single game by missing some simplest of shots.
I think it's easy to forget how badly Novak can play when not allowed to enforce his game and style. Medvedev has been one of the very few players who have been able to unsettle him. As Medvedev's game gets stronger and Djokovic wanes, the tide will likely shift/is shifting.

Read this on twitter:
Djokovic probably hasn’t missed this many shots since his vaccination appointments.

Definitely. The speed at which he rattles through his service games is clearly not to Novak's liking. No time to set himself/pounce into his returns.

Anyone tempted by Djokovic at 14/1?

I mean, he's literally one match away from doing something that might never be repeated in our lifetimes.

Perhaps Novak put too much pressure on himself? After the Zverev match he said he was going to put his body and soul on the line and he'd play it as if it was his last ever match.

Let's see how Medvedev will handle serving for the title. It never usually comes easy.

Calling this a stinker by Djokovic is a disservice Medvedev. Yes Djokovic is playing quite poorly, but Medvedev has been beating him into submission from the start of the match.
Yeah as much as Djokovic is struggling physically you can see Medvedev’s tactics and execution are just draining his mental reserves too. His serves kill any real chance for momentum and his defensive game just isn’t giving any openings, so Djokovic gets increasingly desperate and clumsy. Out Djokovic’d Djokovic.

He barely leaves enough time between points for the crowd to go wooo. I love it.

Nothing new at the US Open. Outside of Rome when it comes to Italian support, they are by far the worst crowd.
