Conte taking the Spurs job leads me to believe he’s been told United aren’t interested. Elsewise it really doesn’t make sense.

Our board needs to be thrown into the sea.

People trying to cope by saying we will go for Ten Hag dont realise that we are stuck with Ole, unless he fecks up top 4. And then we will go "british" for Rodgers. This club is finished. Allergic to success.
Exactly. Also who says that Ten Hag would even want to manage United?

We are finished
Well, shit.

Sometimes fans need to be cnuts to push the club in the right direction, like Spurs' fans were the other day.

Old Trafford molly-coddled the players and manager after arguably the club's most humiliating defeat in its history.

The board knows it can get away with anything when you can get beat 5-0 at home to Liverpool and the fans don't raise a fuss.

Spurs sack their manager after a 0-3 loss to Manchester United, a team with better player than they have.

Manchester United keeps their manager after an embarrassing 0-5 loss against their main rival.

Even Spurs have higher standards....
No wonder why the Glazers have been abject failures in a bunch of stuff that the father Malcolm was not involved in. Whatever standards they have in their various properties, they suck. Our whole board needs to be dumped to the bottom of the Marianna Trench.

And, no, I do not believe in long term appointments. This football club needs to understand that the whole game of football has changed and will not come back.

No and that’s not the most important aspect either, but likewise knowingly making a short term decision has its drawbacks.
It's not a short apppointment though, unless you consider average as short?

When we eventually get dicked by City on sunday, the board will be left with their pants down realising they dont have any candidates left to hire because they dithered by "backing the manager" and "giving him time". And we will probably overpay and give a bigger salary to Rodgers than Conte to have us play "The united way" and bottle top 4.

If Man Utd fall out of the top 4 or even worse European football, I doubt any top or possible top manager is leaving a top 4 team in another league for the job.

A) Maybe some minor briefs to the press. I don’t know. Besides tabloid rumours and the board reiterating their faith in Ole, it’s been relatively quiet and it’s depressing if we found out that the board never intended to sign Conte and we lose him to Spurs or another club.

B) Everyone has a price.
Well in that case City better be on the watch out for us snatching Guardiola, because money is clearly all that matters to managers!!

Conte won’t manage Tottenham, that’s for sure.

Bit surprised he's jumped so quickly at Spurs. I feel like he's better off waiting. They're a mess and you can't take any of Levy's transfer promises at face value.

Are they pushing for top 4 though?

Spurs had a nice run under Pochettino but they're lightyears off that now. They still have some very good players but even a good coach can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Under their peak form with Poch they were trying to push for a title challenge. But of course they want to push for top 4. They're in a bad spot now, but that's where a top manager can make a difference.

Like how players from CL clubs won't move to Non CL clubs? We have seen that being proven wrong many times.

The only way I see someone like Ten Hag even joining is if VDS and/or Overmars join him. Which isn’t happening

My only hope left for this club is that you’re right Adnan. Personally I’m convinced that the club just has no concrete plan beyond Ole, and really cannot see what an abysmal job he’s doing.
I think we should be patient and see how this plays out. But I do understand fan frustration.

Dont worry we will hire Giggs/Bruce. They have the united DNA. Youth, courage, success the united way.

Thank god for this. If and when Ole goes the only managers I'd take would be Poch or Ten Hag. Spurs are welcome to Conte.
Ffs are you for real? Thank god for that? Spurs are getting a class manager, and we are for forced to stick with Ole or hire some caretaker crap in a couple of weeks, and you thank god for it ? Get out

I'm probably gonna be in the minority here but it's the correct move by the club IMO, and we should wait for the right candidate whether that be ten Hag or Potter.

Conte is a good coach and I can understand peoples frustration but it's the correct call by the club IMO.
Agreed. Would rather see us appoint a manager that plays attacking football. I was never convinced Conte was the right fit.

Ffs. Messing about and end up missing out on a top coach when we almost lucked our way into appointing one who would've had us competing for the title. Ah well.

Pretty much. As cnutish as it may be, Barcelona fans actually showed a template about what fan anger can be all about against a shit manager.

I've been mad towards matchgoing fans a number of times in the last 8 years exactly because they choose to delude themselves instead of EXPRESSING TRUTH for themselves, even if it means asking for a divorce with a manager. There is nothing wrong in asking for a divorce when things can't work anymore; that is how life works. Sometimes I compare Old Trafford to a person who prefers to stay in an abusive marriage rather than kick the abusive spouse out of that person's life.

When people talk about Conte not being a fit for Man Utd because of his style of play, weren't Spurs also known in the past for attacking, flair football?

I'm pretty sure we're just sitting on our hands waiting for the next time Poch gets sacked

The only time that Conte is going to be at United, is when he brings Spurs to play against us.

Conte wasn't my first choice for United, but this does take away a quality option for replacing Ole, and more importantly it's another top 6 club with a better manager than ours meaning things become a bit more difficult for us as well. Great.

He will definately improve Spurs. There is alot of competition for that 4th spot now which is a realistic goal for Utd. This will be a nail biting season. I actually hope Ole doesn't get sacked now because there will be nobody decent left to replace him. I will just get behind Ole this season and hope he doesn't screw it up.

You know how it's going to play out, we will end up with Pochettino or worse and only when they are forced to make a move meaning in the middle of next season. I see ten Hag go to Barcelona.

Conte to Spurs....

United going to be left with our hands down our pants again.

How many managers do we want in the league that our better than ours?

What a naïve football club.

What's even funnier is Ole now plays Contes formation.

Conte is a world class manager, yes.

However, we need a long term manager. Conte has had 9 teams in 15 years and his longest stay has been 2/3 years. We'd only be looking a replacement in a few years. He'd be great for Utd, no doubt. But it would be a short term fix.

I had gone cold on the thought of Conte succeeding Ole anyway. I don't think it would have been a good fit. More options will become available as the season progresses and if we get four points from our two games this week we are in a decent position.

Conte has shown he isn't afraid of resigning, so if Levi goes back on his promises I doubt that bothers Conte much

While we are messing around wondering whether to sack Ole, they get one of the best managers in...
Spurs will get top four if Conte comes in.

There is that wonderful Viale or Corso (road with trees) in Turin named Corso Vinzaglio, that is where Conte home is, where Ciro Ferrara has his own pizzeria, where a number of cafes both regularly visit are (full of bianconeri photos from the past and the present).

That’s the wisdom this morning: Conte prefers London to Manchester because he was there already, because of his young daughter schools and because of the connections he made while at Chelsea. He is puzzled by United attitude in the sense that they contacted him recently but winning seems not their first priority, so be it. In the end, money at Spurs will be very good, he knows Paratici from his time at Juve and any sensible progress he would make at Spurs will be seen as his own personal merit, further raising his stock.
