looks like Scholes had enough.

My exact reaction. It's such a strange feeling. On one hand, I don't want the team to lose and be sent to the EL, but on the other hand I just can't get excited about United winning given that this would just delay what needs to be done with an inept manager in charge we're going nowhere with. We're in such a sad position it is unbelievable. Win or lose, we lose either way.

I'm not sure Scholes reaction is anything to do with Ole per se. Scholes and the rest spent their careers disappointed in bad performances even if somehow we won the game.

He must hate it as a fan as he'll still have those high standards but is no longer in the position to do anything. Unfortunately i reckon our dressing room was happy about that game.

Does anyone really expect winners like Scholes and Keane to celebrate a goal in such a performance?

I'd take Ole for the rest of the season if it means getting Enrique. Unfortunately, I think that's highly unlikely. I'd take Enrique over every manager that's been linked with us but I can't see our board even considering him. Nevermind what he's done with Barca, but that Spain team play some brilliant football with probably their worst team in the past 20 years.
Exactly and that why we should get him after the world Cup, because if we don't and Pep leaves City he's off there is my bet. So if there's a guy to get it's Him, and try to get him now.

Give over. If one of City, Chelsea or Liverpool also has a shite season, we get no brownie points for staying in touch. Our target is the top of the table, not staying in touch with the also-rans.

I know what the target is, I wanted a title challenge.....at moment we well of the pace.

Was just pointing out we literally be neck and neck with city if we win. don't know if that's a bad reflection on Ole or pep

When that goal went in I just started laughing like a fecking mad man, the wife thinks I’ve finally lost it…she’s not far wrong.

Not gonna lie I was laughing at just how utterly garbage our defending and passing was most of the time

The world cup is in the middle of the season. If we went for him you're essentially wasting this season in the next. May as well have borought someone competent in the meantime like Conte to try to win something then. 2 years is a long time to have a caretaker manager

That encapsulates the numbing apathy I feel when watching Utd these days.

I still turn up like the pavlovian idiot I am, but always end up slumped in my seat, with a face like a crumpled slice of lettuce ( similar to Paul ) wondering "what the F**K is the point to all of this"? Nothing will change; Ole's going to emerge unscathed regardless of how egregious the performance is and we'll all be promised unprecedented success after another couple of windows, and a protracted wrangle to tie Mickey Phelan down to a new extension to the previous extension ( and of course, where Mike's concerned, a brand new shorts' sponsor ).

Scholes and Ole are good friends so it shows how bad things are when even he is sick of his shit.

Sums up how I feel at the moment.

We're always going to win matches here and there regardless of who the manager is. We reached the quarters if the CL with Moyes in charge for heaven sake. That's the nature of having a squad with more combined talent than most other teams we face. But the manager is the difference between a good group of players and a great team that wins trophies.

We all know we don't currently have a manager capable of building a great team. But we do have players (Ronaldo especially) who are able to win matches despite of him.

What it equates to is not winning enough games to compete for trophies, but not losing enough (or at least not losing enough in succession) for the board to act. We're in limbo, going no where, and as a result it's so difficult to get excited when we score, because there's that empty feeling that we're going around in circles with it all and in a few days we'll have to endure another humiliating defeat anyway.

That's why I totally understand where people are coming from when they admit they want us to lose. It's to speed up the whole process of sacking him, rather than have it lingering on as our season dies a slow painful death.

My reaction was a mix of Scholes and Rio's.

For one second I screamed and just thought feck me Ronaldo is insane.

Then the next second I was like feck me Ole is getting bailed out once again
Yeah it was 3.30 am at my place and i shouted when Ronaldo scored but then i realised its just for a draw and our performance in the match was horrible. Atleast for Scholes standards have not dropped. He seemed happy but he knows its going nowhere. Worrying for some fans its fine now

He really does have to be sacked after the City game.

It's beyond madness that he is our manager still

By dithering we have lost on Conte. Not sure if we can find anyone to take over now if we do sack him. Ole has insane luck when it comes to this. It seems like managers are not available whenever we are in trouble and then Ole pulls a win out of nowhere( mostly because of individual brilliance) and then he survives again.

Nah, Conte was 100% available when Ole should have been given the sack, our board is just afraid to make a decision. They'd rather stick their heads in the ground and pretend nothing bad is happening. It's not luck anymore. It's sheer nepotism.

There are loads of managers better than Ole we can get. Get one as a caretaker for the season and the manager we want in the summer

I don't think the board have any intention of appointing an interim, no matter how bad the situation gets. They would have sacked Ole after the Liverpool game if they did.

It's a year. World Cup is next November I think so it's 12mths. Not 2 years . And it's only a theory who knows they could still sack him and give it to Carrick and wait who knows , and who else comes In for 12mth deal ?? no one of any quality. And I don't think UTD wanted Conte same kind of fit as Jose was and I don't think they wanted that again.

I mean if you can sign Conte for 18 months (what Spurs did and they're Spurs) then surely there are options. I know the world cup is in November, but that means he'd be here starting next January so we'd be giving up on this season plus next since he'd only be here for half a season. And no, Conte isn't like Mourinho, those were just leaks from the club because they're afraid to make decisions. The same leaks also said they think Ten Hag is similar to Moyes. So it's clear they're incompetent.

Who goes into a season expecting to change their manager in January? Literally no club would plan to bring in Enrique following the world cup unless the were to wait for the following summer.

Tuchel and Conte both came to the EPL on 18 month contracts didn't they? And yet Ole is on three years.

A better coaching unit would make this unit play like 2007-08 United.

We have a very very talented squad and we don’t have a clue to what to do

It's why Conte was reportedly fancying the job so much, he's never had a squad with as much quality in attack

How long are people going to pretend we wanted Conte? Everything points to us not being interested. We didn’t dither. We just didn’t want him.

We didn't go for him because he would cost too much and / or would want a long term contract. So he goes to Spurs on a short term contract on Pogba's salary.

All excuses. The only hope is for some action in the international break otherwise it's going to be a long wasted season.

Unless there is a caretaker in charge ie Carrick. Etc etc. That's when they could do it, otherwise they just sack current one, and appoint a maybe who would want at least a 3 yr deal, then as I've said before he goes to City if Pep leaves by then? So the club either go get him now and hope he leaves Spain which is doubtful or they put In a stop gap until then, and hopefully persuade Enrique to come after the world cup.
Or you can just get another manager that's not the one.

You’ve made that all up babe, lovely story though.

Because the club dont really want to deal with football. It gets in the way of their real business. So, much better to put someone on 3 years and not have to think of them. Hence why there's not even any succession planning. And no real decision over Ole's sacking other than a wishy washy let's just say we're not happy and he needs to show more over the next 3 games. With nothing concrete about what that actually meant because they were simply hoping they could ride it out without having to do anything whatsoever. And lo and behold a win against a team so bad, they fired their manager after they lost, a plucky draw against a seriously lucky Atalanta missing key players and a probably 2 to 3-0 loss against City will constitute being enough. They're a bunch of clown who unsurprisingly hired a joker as manager and now we're stuck with them. Only a serious beating by City with a fan walkout would probably push them into action. And I really don't want to lose to City. It's a seriously dire situation they have us in.

Why do we need to give managers 3 year deals when others are getting 18 months?

Where did you get this from? Most reports suggest that the United board decided against Conte.
