My exact reaction. It's such a strange feeling. On one hand, I don't want the team to lose and be sent to the EL, but on the other hand I just can't get excited about United winning given that this would just delay what needs to be done with an inept manager in charge we're going nowhere with. We're in such a sad position it is unbelievable. Win or lose, we lose either way.
Sums up how I feel at the moment.
We're always going to win matches here and there regardless of who the manager is. We reached the quarters if the CL with Moyes in charge for heaven sake. That's the nature of having a squad with more combined talent than most other teams we face. But the manager is the difference between a good group of players and a great team that wins trophies.
We all know we don't currently have a manager capable of building a great team. But we do have players (Ronaldo especially) who are able to win matches despite of him.
What it equates to is not winning enough games to compete for trophies, but not losing enough (or at least not losing enough in succession) for the board to act. We're in limbo, going no where, and as a result it's so difficult to get excited when we score, because there's that empty feeling that we're going around in circles with it all and in a few days we'll have to endure another humiliating defeat anyway.
That's why I totally understand where people are coming from when they admit they want us to lose. It's to speed up the whole process of sacking him, rather than have it lingering on as our season dies a slow painful death.
