I think Lindelof is the better centre back, though that's hardly an achievement in comparison to Maguire.
I think Maguire has it in him to become a top 5 CB in the Premier League and stripping him of the captaincy and of course having a new coach might be what is needed for him to get back to the level he was at with Leicester . Lindelof is not bad and he is an okay squad player for a club like United but I cannot see him end as one of the top CB’s in PL

If his latest (in a string of) poor performances are of any indication, he should be stripped of his captaincy and benched indefinitely.

Killed Ole today. The guy who put the most faith in him. If that ain't ironic...
Not just today but almost every game this season.

Maguire had his chance at United, he wasted it. Should be sold in the summer.

A terrible signing.

This is his third year of his six year contract, which also could be lengthened with an option year. His transfer fee won't be cheap.

He's been garbage I've already posted the same message earlier but how many posters called him among the league's best is beyond me. Everything with United is always two levels of extremes either someone is extremely rubbish and underrated or extremely good and overrated. Even in form Maguire can barely pass the description of being moderately decent.

You look at Liverpool who collapsed as a team at the loss of VVD last year and that truly shows the impact of losing a world class defender. I will try to avoid kicking someone while they are down but Maguire needs to get his act together, maybe a new manager will put some more confidence in him. I think perhaps Solskjaer has shouldered the player too much responsibility. You can't be a captain of a team who's never won anything meaningful and have Ronaldo sitting across the way in the changing room being inspired by what you have to give and say.

Maguire's as much a victim of our shitty defensive organisation as anyone else. He's obviously better than what he's showing this season.

Like Bruno I’m not calling for anyone to be dropped until I see them under new management.

Maguire is a better football player than Lindelof full stop
None of them are world class CB’s full stop.
United should not settle for less than world class on every position full stop.
Maguire is not a leader full stop.
How many times has Lindelof been relegated? And he's younger.

Always excuses for certain players. Why don’t Lindelof or Bailly get these excuses? I’m sure you said McTominay would look better when he doesn’t have to hold Fred’s hand? It’s time for these guys to become accountable for their own performances, there’s no excuses to have a bottom level this low.

This IS the level he was at here, I said when you signed him that he’d been our fourth best defender that season.

We did once field William Prunier within the past 30 years. But yeah, certainly Fergie wouldn’t have been high fiving him after that shambles
Well I might be wrong, I am sure Prunier didn't single-handedly cost us as many goals as Maguire did over last few games.

He's getting over criticized here. He's a very good player.

Its not his fault he has Shaw and Lindelof beside him.

Ole's tactics in playing a midfield two of Fred and Scott and four forwards doesn't help either.

As soon as we go 4-3-3 it will be less pressure on the defense or I think even 5-3-2 at the moment the way we are leaking goals.
please spin back

On his current form, he is also a massive cause for that shitty defensive organization. Seems to have no sense about maintaining the last line and is always the deepest since he is worried about his lack of pace. Not to mention the way he dives in and is skinned leaved us exposed as well.

Currently both him and Shaw don't deserve to be in the first 11, but Ole still persisted with them despite having other options.

Maguire can't blame his shortcomings on anyone but himself, he's been a man stay at the heart of defence FFS. Some of his positioning and basic lack of awareness has been shocking! He has to take accountability for that but I think you're soft on some of our British lads

There is a top player in Maguire, but right now he's a liability.

Whoever comes in as manager needs to hand the captaincy over to Ronaldo and drop Maguire to the bench and make him earn/fight for his place in the team again. He just doesn't feel right as captain, he's not leading by example and is just missing that edge, I think it's even more evident by how he has reacted when the chips are down, we need someone stronger to captain the team. On recent performances he should definitely not be an automatic starter either and he needs to be dropped to avoid becoming complacent in future. If the new manager has half a clue the quality of coaching and tactics will hopefully benefit him massively.

He should be in our starting 11, but he needs a wake up call.

He is making individual mistakes in every game. His sending off was because he took his eye off the ball and ended up miscontrolling it. This happens far too often. It has nothing to do with the midfield or Luke Shaw. He has too many lapses in concentration. He is criticised because he deserves to be criticised.

He comes across as kind of stupid as well. I'd prefer a captain who can at least speak properly. Imagine listening to him in the dressing room..

Hope the first course of action of Carricks is to strip him of the armband he never deserved

OMG! After that horrible defeat against Watford, when he got the most idiotic red and basically killed any chance for his team to bounce back, HE WENT OUT PARTYING?

If this is true, feck this guy! SERIOUSLY! Forget about stripping him of armband, kick him the feck out, so done with this bullshit.

If the media is correct and he's on £190k a week, there is no getting rid of this guy sadly. No one is going to want to pay him close to that.

He's an England international (and starter at that!) and is the most expensive defender so he will never get dropped or replaced. Stop this nonsense!

I'm pretty sure that they were celebrating Maguire's dad birthday, which is at least an excuse.

This outrage seeking culture is pathetic. Guarantee our heroes of 99 went out after shit games too.
Highly doubt you'd have the same spin if it was someone like Pogba, the lack of awareness is appalling and finding that unacceptable has nothing to do with 'outrage' culture.

That's idiotic, guess a legend like Roy Keane doesn't know what he's talking about and is an outrage merchant

He needs to be moved on after all that has gone on this season.
The club needs to set a marker and get rid of him asap. Freeze him out and then move him on in January.

A load of other players ahould be joining him.

Think of how much better we’d be if we had went for Demiral or someone like that instead? Half the price. Much more aggressive and no nonsense or just got our heads out of our asses and went for VVD for less money when he was available and the best defender in the league. Our owners are shite

I just think players like Keano are products of a different era. Also, less ‘player as brand’ bs or ubiquitous social media. Keane has talked about players going out after games for pints all the time. Tbh, sometimes I think we mythologise the past and past players a lot. If anything, modern players are way more dedicated to their careers than the players in the past hence longer playing careers, better conditioning and better physicality. The players who aren’t dedicated to all that extra stuff are quickly found out in the current competitive climate.

As for Keano being an outrage merchant? That’s pretty much his brand isn’t it? I don’t doubt he’s mostly sincere, but he definitely plays up to that image for the benefit of his current employers.

Oh get a grip, players are allowed to have lives outside of football.
