Feck this is hard to watch. He deserved better. Shame it didn't work out. But I hope he knows every United fan still loves him for the absolute legend that he is.

Some of the comments here are unbelievable. Show your human side for once. Yes he was not good enough, but that interview shows his human side and how much he loves the club. He clearly tried his very best in good faith but ultimately just was not good enough and he knows that, he is not an idiot. Loved the interview, shows we have got class and will always respect people.

Football means a lot, but it is not everything in life.

Thanks Ole for all that you have tried to do. Will always be a legend. Deserved to go. Shame it didn't work out.
Good post and agree with you.

Our online fan base is pretty toxic, like most big clubs I imagine. Thankfully the fans who attend matches are some of the classiest around, imo they are anyway.
He'll be back at OT sitting next to SAF in no time and Ole will get a brilliant reception from the crowd.

Don't think I've ever seen a post sacking interview like this before, I hope Ole actually wanted to do it and this isn't another case of being the good soldier for our parasitic owners.

It could have been better scripted but fair play to him for doing it - sincere and class act. Sadly just wasn’t up to taking us forward

A farewell interview would be weird if it was Mourinho or Van Gaal. But this is Solskjaer. He isn’t just some bloke, he has devoted a large portion of his life to United.

A farewell interview in this case is fitting. There’s no hard feelings, just two parties deciding to part ways because it didn’t work out, but he will always be a Red Devil and he will always be a Unites legend.

Yeah it’ll be fantastic. I can imagine some ‘supporters’ on here actually getting annoyed when people chant his name the next time we play at OT.

I feel so sad. Love Ole and hope some of our fans temper their comments. Disappointed to see some dismissive stuff being posted.
I hope he'll be all right. Always a legend, and most importantly, a decent man.

He has been sacked when he literally didn't have anything else to offer.

The Honeymoon was so great that he received a permanent position, even if that 6th position pretty much confirmed that he wasn't the man for the job (more like a decent interim). That Top3 in 2020 gave him another year, and that 2nd place in 2021 gave him another year. But after a solid transfer window, he has lost the plot this autumn. Completely. Powerless. Embarrassing. End of the line. It was the right time to pull the trigger.

What infuriates me is that he lost the plot after a decent 2nd place position (+ CR, Varane, and Sancho). You don't sack a manager that ends up 2nd. Nobody thought he would collapse after a Top2 campaign. Thanks, Ole, for ruining already the 21-22 season.

Its very clear its a much improved squad
Explain then rather than just stating your opinion as fact. I've just given you multiple examples that show his squad building hasn't been all that great in the grand scheme of things that show it isn't "very clear it's a much improved squad."

If you have nothing nice to say about Ole, just feck off from an appreciation thread. There’s a dozen other woe be me threads on the front page to jerk off to collective misery.

It's touching to see him getting so emotional and I think we should celebrate the fact we have our legends that truly love the club and that affection to United can bring a grown up man to tears, not all clubs are lucky like us in this regard and that's why United is still the greatest club in the world, even after almost a decade of playing like absolute shit.

Nonetheless, it's a bit of a weird move from the club and while I understand it's a part of dignified exit, Ole was a manager way below our level that seriously underachieved here, it really looks out of order. In fact if they didn't want Ole to lose his face, they should've sacked him much earlier, latest being after the LFC game.

The last 30 seconds of the interview is a painful watch. He's holding back tears, his voice cracked up.

Well my guess is he's done his interview now so he can go back home and not have to deal with the press trying to get a word,
Hopefully we can take the next step with someone else.
Yes I'm sure of this. I would do the same because no way I would want to speak to the media - especially the ones in this country.

Would you swap Fernandes, Ronaldo, Cavani, Greenwood, Varane for Pereira, Jones, Lukaku, Alexis etc? If no then he has improved the squad.

I'd expect United fans to watch that interview and feel sympathy for a legend who is clearly broken up by failing to achieve enough.

The fact that some of you, having got what you wanted for so long, are still so mean-spirited makes you look like a seriously toxic bunch.

Well said. It will never not be weird the way so many grown adults have decided an intense personal dislike is the correct response to a decent man who ended up out of his depth.

And when you look back on the playing career of that same decent man for the club we all support it’s even more of a shame on the haters. Absolute twats, every one of them.
