Better player when in their prime?

Both were extradionary players at their best. But who was greater?

Hard to say but I probably say Suarez.

Suarez has done it in every stage of football competitions. He's worldclass with Liverpool, Barcelona, and Uruguay.

Suarez at times for Liverpool and early in his Barca career was freakishly good and did things that not many other players can do.

It's a tough one because Aguero at his peak was also a monster but I'd have to give it to Suarez.

Suarez would score for fun in those City squads.

No way would Aguero be able to carry Liverpool the way Suarez did.

Absolute cnut of a human being, but what a player!

Suarez is on par with Zlatan and Lewa as the best strikers of their generation, all 3 marginally better than Aguero.

I don’t think the gap is as big as made out to be here. Aguero suffered from playing for the worse European and national team for the peak of his career, and also way more susceptible to injuries, but in pure quality the only thing Suarez has over him is his work rate.

Not just work rate, some of the goals Suarez scored while playing for Liverpool, Aguero can't score them. Or at least he didn't score them.

Goals from 30-35 yards out or his goal vs Newcastle with the beautiful take. Even without scoring he used to be a menace for defenders with nutmegs and quick dribbles.

In shot accuracy,I would give Aguero a little bit better than Suarez
Outside of that, dribbling, playmaking, creating chances, consistency, workrates and football iq.Suarez wins easy.

Overall prime Suarez is better than prime Aguero. He is the best pure strikers in last 15 years with Robert Lewandowski. This season he is 34 years old and still scores in great numbers.

Suarez scored and assisted 43 goals(31+12) without taking a single penalty, while playing for team with average midfield and defense though, losing to Man City, the team who won the league despite Aguero missing just above half of the league games. So I do not think, "Suarez performed better because he played for superior team" really applies here.

Aguero has done it all by himself on so many occasions, even giving City the championship, but somehow in this thread Suarez is the only one mentioned in that area. I'd say it's quite close and I'm tempted to say Aguero was better (injury free). On national level Suarez by a mile.

I didn’t really argue that he isn’t better, and yes his 13/14 season is probably the single best PL campaign from a player in the last few decades, it’s just that now both are winding down, the perception is heavily skewed towards Suarez not only because of his individual quality but also because of the teams he had the most success with on the highest stage. Slap Aguero in that Barca 14/15 team with Messi and Neymar and they would probably still win the treble, same for Uruguay 3rd place WC.

Aguero was very good, a slightly less good Romario mostly operating in the last 30 meters.
Suarez would do more on the pitch, further wide or deep.

It's a pick em really but in FIFA terms perhaps 92 for prime Suarez and 91 for Aguero with Romario better than both at 93.

Suarez by an absolute mile. I think his 2013/2014 season, in particular, was equal to any other individual player Premier League history. A very unusual player, too. Hard to think of anyone similar to him.

Suarez. It’s also impossible to not hold the fact that Aguero only ever really played for City who let’s be honest are not a massive club. He was never exposed to the top levels of Elite football and never really had an impact on the champions league. Suarez did the right thing by moving to Barca as that has massively improved his legacy after and already brilliant Spell at Liverpool. As good as that city generation was, they are all a notch behind the best as they just stayed at an oil club picking up big pay cheques and doing very little in Europe.

I wonder how Agüero would be rated if not for all the injuries. But when we’re talking reality, you have to pick Suarez any day except for May the 13th.

It’s him & Lewandowski (with Benzema lurking just behind) who are the best strikers of their era, by some margin.

Suarez at his peak would win games by himself, literally running through players and scoring all types of goals.

Aguero overall is the better striker during his career, but peak Suarez in the PL was something else.

Suarez. I don't think it's even close either.

Aguero belongs to the tier below. He's more comparable to someone like Higuain.

I rated Aguero very highly, but this is not particularly close. Suarez all the way.

Suarez at his peak was closer to Messi and Ronaldo than he was to the rest. Unplayable.

Agüero, Silva and Hazard. Players who are treated as greats, because they did well in the PL, but usually came up short on the international stages.

For a few years Suarez was a top 3 player which I don’t think you can tell about Aguero at any point. Also Suarez was really good for Uruguay.

Silva played a massive role in winning both Euro 2008 and 2012, and Hazard was good in the World cup of 2018 to be fair.

Am I wrong in thinking Suarez peak was messi/Ronaldo territory?
Not wrong at all, for all his antics he was incredible at his peak. Very unconventional too, you would struggle to name a similar player.
