Will we pick up loads of injuries(initially) under Ragnick?

Poorly formatted post
I fully support the appointment of Ragnick,it’s definitely a big step in the right direction for us as a club. But in the short term,I think that we will suffer loads of injuries because of his playing style. His style of play is radically different to what the players are used to.The intensity in the training sessions is also going to go up tremendously.I think it’s inevitable that the players will struggle initially to get used to his methods.

There will be short term pain, but in the long run we will be so much better off as a team.I just wish Ragnick had an entire summer to get his philosophy across to the players.Joining the club mid season is inevitability going to lead to short term setbacks, but I guess it is what it is….

I definitely think we will experience injuries, hopefully they come after we've accumulated a lot of points over the next few games and not all in one go. It's similar to when Klopp first went to liverpool (Or Ole to us to be fair) all their players seemed to burn out around January time until they got used to it.

We've got a big squad so hopefully that is utilised well, however if we get a few injuries in the middle we are well and truly fuc*ed.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. It’s happened any time we’ve tried to increase our intensity in the past and lead to injuries and burn out. I think it’s why Solskjaer abandoned his “work harder than the opposition” philosophy - because he didn’t trust outside his core and they ended up running on fumes during the run in.

That’s where Rangnick is going to have to be different, by adopting a system where everyone knows their roles and can pull in the same direction he can have 7-8 of his core playing at any one time while he rotates any given 3-4 in the easier fixtures.

I believe so. It's going to be hard for our players to adapt from matey/friendly training sessions to a relentless high intensity one. Players like Varane, Ronaldo and Cavani might not even be able to do that at this stage of career. Martial might even learn that he can sweat.

This team has been the laziest team in the league in terms of work rate this season, I don't care if they drop like flies due to muscle injuries or fatigue, they need to show that they want to be here and work hard, I hope Rangnick whips them into shape.

I get that Ronaldo and Cavani are in their mid thirties, so they might need to be looked after and their workload to be managed, but Varane is 28 only, he is still young, and should be able to withstand any grueling training, he is a professional athlete after all.

That's probably why he also has the reputation for the giving youth a chance! When the more senior players need a break or get injured. Frankly, our players should up their fitness. And if we don't need to make any subs during a game, it means we have coasted and not played with sufficient intensity (broadly speaking).

It will probably be a little like Liverpools first couple of seasons.
Running out of stamina about;70% of the season

But more fitness and changes in personnel that suit the style better
will hopefully sort that out.

Its difficult to do fitness work mid season. If we arent fit enough and push hard i expect them 100% - then again if our players are really well instructed we can rotate a lot more without collapsing.

I've seen other people write this, bit it's just completely untrue.

This current injury is the longest he has been out since March 2017 which was the last time he had a hamstring injury.

He wasn't out at all during the 19/20 season, in fact he didn't miss a game through injury from 16/2/19 to 6/4/21 when he caught Covid, that's more than two years and neither of them were football related injuries. The Feb 2019 "injury" was flu.

In terms of sports related injuries it's even more impressive. He missed 4 games in Oct/Nov 2018 after tearing his abductor and then injured his leg in May 2021 when he was out for another 4 games. That's 2 and a half years with no sports related injuries.

That's not an injury prone player.

He was rushed back from his groin injury which he sustained in the League of Nations Final, played against Spurs full, and in 2 days played against Atlanta, and got injured after 20/30 mins.

If he is allowed to recover properly and get fit properly, he should be able to work normally even under any training regiment, and he is a CB, CBs don't run as much as FBs, midfielders and wingers.

Thanks for this summery...

Varane was rushed to comeback from his groin problem that he got with the national team, hence why he is injured again.
