The chase for 4th place (not top 4)

There's no way West Ham keep this form for the rest of the season. They'll drop off eventually.
Completely agree. And if you look at their wins (and even draws) against the other top four contenders generally they've been obtained with half the possession and half the shots. They're a good side and to be honest I don't think anyone could begrudge them top four if they keep this going (and we could be wrong, they might!) but in my opinion that would be against the numbers if nothing else.

West Ham will be this years Leicester. They're good, likely a tough run coming with more injuries now over Christmas, but they'll also bounce back and not fall too far. I'd guess they finish 5th if United get their shit together.

4th place are 6 off Chelsea. They need to shape up or add them to the conversation

Realistically we should still expect to get 4th.

Have a much better team than those we are competing with

Can't see beyond United or Spurs and of the two would strongly favour United. I respect the Conte factor but think we'll do it ultimately.

Would be very surprised if West Ham went the distance and I don't think Arsenal are good enough.

Spurs under Conte will be serious contenders for 4th - I expect them to finish ahead of West Ham and Arsenal.

United are the biggest unknown - if things really click under Rangnick, we should be too strong for the other 4th place contenders, but it's very early days. We should have a better idea of who is most likely to grab 4th in a month's time, once the insane Christmas schedule is complete.

I think it is going to be relatively close between United and Spurs till the end of the season for the 4th spot.

Transfer window is going to be huge for Spurs, I feel. If they invest properly, they might able to finish above United.

Every team has a bad patch. The three top teams will do too.
I'm certain Rangnick was behind how we played the last two matches.
Its not wishful thinking.
We have a very good squad. We will get at least a very good midfield player in January that Rangnick wants.
Ole left us a hole to climb out off.
Just watching the two full backs play, they looked different players.
This team will continue to improve.
If you knew even the slightest thing about Ragnick you'll know he had absolutely nothing to do with your approach at Chelsea.

*this post i quoted was from Friday so the "two game" reference included that game.

I've read enough about him, watched enough of his tactical talks and seen enough of his teams to know if he had even the slightest say on the game vs us your entire teams average positions wouldn't have been in your own half.

You by comparisions probably didn't know who the hell he was this time two weeks ago.

West Ham losing Zouma for 12 weeks is a blow for them making top 4, if they had any chance before.

There is some easy and good money to be made on the Bolded if you are a betting man and if you genuinely believe in this prediction but somehow I doubt it.

Anyone else worried?

8 points behind an in form arsenal (albeit we have 3 games in hand).

Spurs with Conte are also ahead of us and playing really well, can't see them losing many games.

Neither spurs or arsenal have any European football unlike us. We can't afford to drop any silly points otherwise I fear were out of it (and we so nearly did v Norwich!)

I predicted 4th pre season but didn't expect it to be a struggle. Right now I'd say we're far more likely to miss out than get it. We need to start playing well quickly.

We have to starting playing well basically. Have better players than both Arsenal and Spurs, individuals capable of winning games on their own, one thing missing is playing proper football. If Rangnick can make the team do that, I'm confident we're finishing in top 4. But if we play like v Norwich then we're in trouble. Big 5 months in front of the players.

Arsenal or Tottenham for the 4th

No doubts
I agree. In fact I think the top four is almost settled as Arsenal seem to be far and away the best team of outside of the already settled top 3. Spurs with Conte will push them which will only make Arsenal better. The rest are just also rans.

United will definitely make it. Better squad than the others.

If ole would have been sacked in September maybe, now the train in gone.
Is it really gone? We were in the top 4 after the last time we played  we’re bound to fall behind when we’re not playing mate.

Cant see it being much else than a shoot out between Spurs and us. Watching the Spurs game they still look average offensively but they are way better defensively and that’s the worry, they can probably do a Conte special like at Chelsea where they just go on runs of low scoring, probably quite boring, wins with a clean sheet.
