I wonder if he was ever on our radar before now. I can't say I've ever heard anyone suggest he work with the club, which is disappointing considering what I've recently learned about his influence on the pressing revolution. We've needed a DOF forever, though we finally have one I wonder why we didn't hire him years ago for that role.

He's been on our radar since 2019. Murtough actually spent a day at Leipzig looking at their set up and spoke to Rangnick then.
We wouldn't have hired him back then. With his modest CV his application wouldn't have been in consideration. But 8 years later, we have seen the likes of his disciples do well. Plus the united Board has now taken a bold decision to want to make some serious transformation. They wouldn't have been so desperate/brave 8 yrs ago.
So now the CV and the lack of silverware is less of an issue.
Good to hear he kept all the youngsters who will be involved tonight, back after training, and personally took the training himself
Wanted to post this again. Topics include: doctor he's bringing in and how he's crucial for preventing injuries, creating enjoyable individualized meals and nutrition plans for each player based on a profile made through testing the player's body, training the brain how to react to time and space available, eye tracking exercises that few clubs use, never covering the pain from injuries but solving the underlying issue, how the medical team determines how much training each player can make and designing training around that.
Everytime i open this thread there is a new interview posted wish they would just let him get on with it, only so many ways you can say the same thing and he said himself afterthe palace win that he hasn't even had time to celebrate yet.
Edit: Looks like an old one so my bad, has had a lot of them though. Personally i am interested to see what he says when we lose, many of our previous managers always had excuses about everything but the gameplan and/or tactical issues and i imagine he will analyse where and why they lost the game.

We had plenty he just choose to play players like Mata to get them up to speed.
The test of integrating youth isn't dead rubbers anyway it's getting them rotated into competitive but easier games. Ole failed miserably at that, we'll see how Ralf does but it's promising.
Yeah sure, just the way you worded the post was as though Ralf had already fielded a load of youth players that Ole hadn't and as far as I remember it was McFred and the standard starting 11
Imagine being able to rest some of our starters just before the busy Christmas schedule, that feels so nice. Specially as it means they get more time to train with Ralf.

The two biggest clubs that have gone for Rangnick are Milan and us. Both times it was a desperation move. Two big clubs that had lost their way.
Rangnick wants to control everything and at most big clubs in Europe that's not possible. It's not wanted. They have structures designed to avoid that e.g. Director of football, head coach, head of scouting are all clearly separated. This is done to stop one person being able to change too much or clubs relying too much on one person.
It's no surprise Rangnick ended up as Head of Global at RB. Cos he wants to rule everything. And it worked for RB cos they needed that. But a Bayern Munich or a Real Madrid would never allow that. Not unless they had a catastrophic downtown and needed someone to come in and fix it. Precisely the situation we have been in.

Yeah was good, but again, you said he already played more than Ole ten hours before the game kicked off.
And it wasn’t anything brilliant was it. Enjoyed the first half, second half was predictably chaotic with so many changes and youngsters, but glad he did it all the same.
