Think RR is trying to play him into form, really needs to pick up soon. Today it was like missing player. Just needs a good game and a couple of goals.
Problem is: he hasn’t been in form for about two years

Was better late in the second half when he looked like he dropped in the left deeper 2.
The guy is a left sided attacker in a front three..simple... was shit on the right against CP. has always been shit on the right. Was shit today in a front 2... he is bollox with the ball in to feet... looked ok back left running at players. This isn’t some Sherlock level mystery.

I wish Marcus would find some form soon, he's too good to deliver mediocre games in succession

Needs dropping but so does Ronaldo and Bruno. All three where shite and atm don't think we have enough fire power to replace all three.

Rashford needs to be replaced with Mason and if required be brought on as the 70 min sub.

Hopefully not the case of too much to soon, I watched a interview with him and Obama a couple of months ago.

Hope he gets back to what he enjoys, playing quality football for Man Utd.

Pretty much.

Ask him to anything beyond out to in runs from the left and he is useless.

"Martial...He's isolated Skrtel here..."
I’ve heard it all when “he tried some stuff” is considered a compliment. Oh how our standards have dropped that we prefer a guy running aimlessly and failing countless dribbles and passes over someone like Sancho that played easily the most tidy game of our front 4 yet was hooked at 60 minutes.

People need to realize football has grown up, being technically sound and retaining possession under pressure is far more valuable these days than a player who’s only redeeming qualities are pace and the occasional moment of magic (which hasn’t been there for about a year now.)

Plays like a PS5 pixel - so much poor decision-making in his game. Head down and run football. Hopefully training with RR and Sancho can lead to some awareness of just how limited his game still is. Also still cannot head a ball - amazing but true fact.

Let me say again. Considering all substances, he has been better and better game by game. Our attack play was so poor due to the collective issues, one of which is missing a player like Martial. But, Martial wants to leave.

Who is this aimed at? Literally everyone has agreed he needs/needed benching but Sancho played 60 minutes too and did the square root of feck all... Being the tidiest out of that shite show doesn't mean much when for huge portions of the game he was anonymous.

Hopefully Masons fit enough to start soon, Rashford's not good enough atm to be starting. Bruno too but guess we'll save that for his thread.

Still waiting for him to become even a quarter of the player we thought he'd be.

Mason should definitely be starting at the mo. Marcus looks well off it at the mo. Good to see him running a little bit more and he can still beat a player, but so frustrating to see the constant head down and blind alley run.

Greenwood needs to take his spot ASAP. Maybe rashford needs to be an impact sub against tired defenders to be effective.

He has this knack of looking like he can beat a man when he starts a dribble.

If sancho had pace he'd be towering over rashford, not that he's not already a better player.

In every sense there is, he’s been absolutely awful for a long long time now. No idea why some want to pretend otherwise, or even claim that it looks like he’s getting better. The match today is another excellent display of his lack of awareness, some instant passes back to midfield or even a defender when he should have turned, then again and again he holds on to the ball for too long and gets dispossessed when he should’ve opted for an easy pass to a teammate. Seems completely incapable of making the right decision, and most of the time he gives the impression that he couldn‘t be less happy about having to play. Pretty much everything looks completely off at the moment.

Hopefully he does get better, as this is going to be a horrible season if he continues performing like this

I am not sure what his level is anymore. His dribbling is average, cant hold the ball, makes poor decision in passing consistently. Not sure if its just poor form or his reputation has outgrown him as a player. Hopefully its just form

I think I gave him a 1 on match rating.
I don't think I have seen such a bad performance from a Man United player in such a long time.

How he stayed on for 90 minutes. Absolutely shocking.

I wish he played like he was on some substances.

So poor again, barring the almost assist to Ronaldo.

I don't get what's happened to him, but we can't afford performances like this just to try to play him into form. Diabolical today.

I think he'd be pretty good up front against a high line, which norwich and most other teams wont play so you're still right i guess.

He's never been great in the middle has he?

He's not looked good from the left either of late, but it's certainly the position most likely to get him performing well.

I don't think he's cut out for this role just off Ronaldo. Cavani would be best, or Greenwood.

I feel like RR has just defaulted to playing him because of whatever appraisal the coaches have given on players, and he's a big player. But I'm pretty sure he'll get sick of this.

It’s unbelievable how unsure of himself he looked today. Definitely needs dropped and needs to light a fire under himself. He’s either been too greedy or today was trying to hard for one extra pass when he should’ve shot the ball.

He looks so out of sorts it's unreal, I don't get why he was kept on for the entire match, needs benching against Brentford.

Really poor at the moment, did well to set up chance for Ronaldo but that was about it. Do need someone with pace in this formation though so can see why Rangnick is hoping he’s going to find some form.

I’m not surprised Martial wants out with performances of those firmly ahead of him this season
Rashford and Bruno make it tempting to keep Pogba and Martial an extra window. They have massive flaws and lack heart but they don't break every other possession with poor decisions.

Watching replay now as working late. Can see a few posters in this thread who used to give us posters who pointed out these flaws two seasons ago absolute pelters. At least it's becoming more obvious. Said it before and tbf to @Raees who made an ill fated thread about it, he was kind of on the money. I've got more faith in his ability than many, but it was so fecking dumb to give him the #10 and put him on about double the wages of Son so young. Think the thread that was made was that he is in a 'bubble' and it's. for my money, the best explanation of his form. He is absolutely in a bubble that we as a stupid club created for him. He will do better when he is having to fight for his place and he really grasps the responsibility that comes with challenging for titles and being an elite player. I have faith he can do it, but we have only made it harder for him by creating that bubble and pretending he is some elite level forward when elite level performances are few and far between. Will say that watching now, this is no way worse than what was being served up game after game a couple of years ago. Think it's better actually..

Also why was he starting instead of Greenwood. I'll definitely defer to RR's judgement as he obviously knows what he's doing but I find that one hard to understand.
