Does anyone have intel on, when these might be readily available in shops again? Seriously considering paying a little premium and buying privately if I can find one that's unopened and with a receipt.

Had them in Currys for a day or 2 this week they’ve started selling them in bundles so the scalpers are put off having to buy extras, the ones I seen were bundled with Ratchet and Clank and Spider-Man so not a bad couple of games.

Got Far Cry 6 and Kena in the sales. Was tempted by Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart as well but I'll wait a little longer on them when the prices hopefully go down further in future sales. Though in saying that, I was hoping Returnal would get a big discount considering its been close to a year since it's release, but no shakes.

Has anyone tried Sherlock?

Annoyed that I didn't jump on Sackboy in Black Friday. Want to buy it to play co op but 50-60 feels a little steep.

Heard there are issues with the ps4 free upgrade too. Something about opening the ps4 version wiping ps5 progress. Not sure how accurate that is.

I got £100 of PS Store credit for Christmas. Not sure what to spend it on. Might still hold out for things to go down in price.

Hitman 3 is down to £30 in store I think? Leaves 70 for a 1st party title next year.

We have a family gaming night every Saturday, kids are 15 & 13, we’ve played all the Unchartered, Latest 2 Gods of War, Last of Us 1 & 2, Days Gone & AC Valhalla. Playing COD Vanguard now which is good. We’ve tried RDR2 but it was a bit slow to get into.

Anyone recommend any games like these? I’ve tried to get them into Horizon Zero Dawn twice but they aren’t biting.

My wife just surprised me with a PS5 so need some new games.

How exactly do you do it since those games you mentioned aren't even 2 player, nevermind 4.. do you just hand the controller round and take it in turns whilst completing story and side missions?

Or do you just lock them in the basement with you whilst you complete all the games you like and you say 'quality family time' loudly every 15 minutes whilst they smile and nod whilst struggling against the ropes that bind them

I think so. I used to do that with my brother many years back.

Haha, well the wife just likes watching and having us all in the same room, the rest of us has a go when not eating or drinking something. But the kids play most of it and I’ll have a go when I want to.

Elden Ring looks good, probably wait for that. Would play The Witcher will them but not sure if too adult for them.

Horizon is a bit of a slog in the first half but then slowly but surely the story reels you in and some of the scenery is beyond brilliant. If you can, I'd advise you persevere, it's worth it IMO.

Are PS4s completely obsolete now, or is there worth in getting one for an extremely casual gamer like me? I'd want to play the odd bit of FIFA online, maybe a few shooter games (online), GTA, etc. Nothing too fancy, and it could well be the case that I get bored after a few months and don't play it much more, hence why I was considering getting a second hand PS4 - I can't really justify the €700 odd for a PS5

Definitely not obsolete. Majority of PS5 games are still seeing PS4 releases.

I'd imagine stuff like FIFA and COD will be supported on PS4 for atleast another 2-3 years.

So, minor the in-built game of Astro's playroom, is there any other game out or in development that is going to fully utilize the potential of the PS5 controller ?

Is it that good? We started it but gave up on it.
Yup. In your case you can play with your family by seeing which one of you can kill the boss with each person getting a turn until the character dies.

The story is not straight forward and discerned through item description and what little character interaction is there with NPCs. So if you are looking for that then soulsborne games are not for you and as good as Bloodborne is to play you will not like it.

Any ps5 game utilises it - Ratchet, Returnal etc, also Ride 4 and probably other racers. Perhaps not to the extreme trigger tensions you see in Astro though.

Having done a quick browse last night I found out that 3 of the 4 games I've got seem to utilize its potential quite well.
Those games being Ghost of T.., Ratchett and Clank and Miles Morales Spiderman.

It's shit in Spiderman so ignore that one.

Returnal and Demon Souls are where its meant to have been used best I believe.

Not a fan of shooters that distinguish guns with adaptive triggers like fortnite or cod. Turn that off immediately. Cool to check out and nothing more.

Tomb Raider games might be up your alley.
Dragon Age 3 & The Witcher 3 a bit less so, but if your kids are into fantasy settings then they might be worht a look.

I also recommend the soulsborne games, but since you guys are playing on turns it might become hard to find a good rhythm.

Ok, so I've decided to bite the bullet and get one of these from a scalper at a premium, so I can get the most out of it during winter. I want to start with an open world type game like the The Witcher 3, Skyrim or Red Dead Redemption 2. I realize these are all older games, but I've heard good things about them. Any recommendations among those three, or other options I should look at?

Cool, will give it another go then at some point, cheers.
