Neville talking a lot of sense of Sky right now. Something isn’t right in the dressing room.
We often talk about Pogba and Martial being negative influences, but it just can't be them anymore now that they are either singled out ahead of a transfer or simply injured. Some people might say that I have an agenda, but I believe Rashford is the guy encapsulating the most what is going wrong at this club: too much on what goes off the pitch, never enough on what goes on the pitch.

Ever since Rashford got his MBE, what has he done? No matter how much good his charity work does, I say feck that. feck that! Why? Because what a person does outside of his/her primary field of work can only get as much credibility as to how that person performs in the primary field, and Rashford has lost so much footballing credibility in recent months. Where is the spark? I call that the Colin Kaepernick syndrome: a guy does so much off the pitch at the expense of his career and for long enough that no team now wants to take a chance with him anymore, and he doesn't care anymore.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
They've been like this since before Ole, not everything is his fault.
The thing is I would expect a manager who was almost 3 years at the wheel to change either the mentality of the squad or make the necessary purchases that bring the needed mentality to the squad but not much has changed, as you said the problems were there before Ole but that, he was unable to change that is what a lot of us seeing as his biggest failure. You don't fix anything by just pretending everything is dandy.

Good thing we liberated these players from Ole, Carrick and McKenna.

Did the Villarreal cup final defeat really deflate a lot of these players rather than give them an incentive to not have that feeling on a football pitch again? They just look like they have given up on themselves and just gone into hiding.

Genuinely don’t know what the f*** is going on at this club behind the scenes but clearly it’s a team full of disinterested players (barring 1-2) that look as if they’d rather be somewhere else than a football pitch playing for Manchester United.

We have too many big name Charlie's in the squad without a big name manager too match them. Maybe we would be best served copying arsenal's recent example of going with a honest hard working bunch of young lads that are 100% into buying what arteta wants of them.

The attitude in the whole squad is shit. Ragnick should do a Bielsa here and force the players to pick up litter for 3 hours outside the stadium.

one thing that occurred to me - is there a chance the players simply aren't worried about what ralf says because he is only there a couple more months?

in a funny way, ole is the ideal interim manager (creates positivity etc, we all saw the bounce he got) where as RR might not be ideal as he is obviously trying to a change a lot, but many players may feel he is there for too short a period to be worried.

Do we have squad harmony problems?

I noticed some moments during the game were Cristiano has clearly pissed at some players, then Cavani's rant against Telles. In general it seems that we lack urgency and it wouldn't surprise me that we have a divided squad.

The amount of times our players stop playing when they lose the ball to complain to the ref. They'll spend the next 20 seconds walking around not paying attention to the game going on around them so they can tell the ref we should have had a foul, while the opposition are tearing us a new arsehole on the counter.

We have given the players too much, too soon. Our wage bill gets higher and higher each year while our trophy cabinet gets smaller and smaller.

They've been rewarded far too well for giving only about 80% for a long time now since Fergie left. They are always in a safe place contract wise and the general fanbase protects them too well, for better or for worse.

Extracting the last 20% out of them to make them winners is like taking blood out of a stone.

No one can explain better than this about our team situation

Too many players in high contracts with a sfety net around them and they know managers will change but their place, spme how this should change and only owners can change this by playing hard and giving manager full control

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
I actually really dislike this united team. Just the Biggest bunch of wasters I've seen pull on a United shirt.

I'm glad Ole got away from these.
I felt bad recently for thinking this to myself, but it's true. I can't stand half of our players, not fit to play for this club and to see Harry fecking Maguire captaining us makes me think the end of days must be near. Feck me, there's absolutely no wonder it riles Roy Keane up so much. He must be fuming watching these lot, seeing how much they earn and all the stupid plaudits some of them get.

Ole has absolutely fecked up massively with this rebuild of his. He's built a team of absolute p*ssies, probably because they're the only type of character that wouldn't call out his charade as Manchester United manager.

I recall “the buck stops with the manager” or something like that.
Ultimately it does, but he has spoke openly about what he wants and we can see with our own eyes that the players aren't delivering any of it. This period is about judging the players for me and seeing who will react and take on board a new tactical plan.

What amazes me is how other clubs manager it pretty quickly, with supposedly far lesser players. I've said for a long time that United have enabled a poor attitude and with ethic by saving managers and not taking a hard line with players, instead giving 2nd and 3rd chances. On top of this, increasing wages constantly for players that have not proven they can deliver.

We've created a culture of self entitlement and lack of work ethic. Fortunately I do feel like Rangnick is a person that will recognise this and hopefully with being an 'outsider' will be brutally honest in his assessment of the players and the club.

The weird thing is that some of them were really good players in other teams.

Maguire was on the rise. From Hull to Leicester, to the England NT. Suddenly he goes to United and becomes a worse player ? It seems like most of the guys who come here don't get better than they were before...

With the exception of our midfield I would say we have very talented players, but if they don't want to work hard it matters little.
You reckon Telles, Dalot, AWB and Lindelof are very talented?

It Stinks. Give me Dan James over Rashford or Martial any day. Fred over Pogba. Been saying it since last season. Cavani flanked by two hard working aggressive pressing players and we’d be destroying teams and creating multiple simple straightforward chances. Instead we are stuck with pissed off players walking around out in front teams playing for themselves. Sick of it.

United minus the Glazers
Somehow it looked like we got a knock-off Sancho than the genuine deal. He rarely cuts inside and his crossing has been woeful. Rashford was abysmal too

All the posts in this thread are reiterating exactly what Gary Neville said after the game; basically something stinks and it is the players' attitudes and lack of team spirit.

He either bought, renewed contracts or kept everyone in the squad so yeah it is his fault. If he also didn’t improve anything and just kept all the same problems then again he failed.
Awb
Maguire
Varane
Vdb
Ronaldo
Cavani
Bruno
Sancho

If you sign that many players (and it doesn't include a few kids and Ighalo also signed) and you can't fix a supposed attitude problem then you're a big reason for the problem not bring fixed yet as you were entrusted with a lot of money to do just that.

I dont care how we finish this season. United has been overpaying ours players since Fergie left. Maguire, AWB, Pogba, Fred, Martial and many others. Players came here on a high transfer fee and huge wages. They don't feel leaving United is a step down and career starting declining. They need to be desperate to cling on. That's a problem to me now, they feel another club suit them just as well. Nothing will change overnight. I hope that by the time Ralf is done, 5-6 youth are promoted and 5-6 players leaves United. United should start buying young, hungry and unproven talents with a coach who can nature their development.

It's pathetic, I can never envision these players being that "pressing side" that everyone hopes it will be, no matter who the manager is.

They sulk and moan when they lose the ball, rather than try to win it back, it's a mind-set that just can't change from some of them. I can't see someone like Rashford putting his head down and chasing a player after he loses the ball.
The trick cyclist will be losing his marbles with this bunch.

It's a sham Opta don't keep stats on arm flapping or we'd have already qualified for the CL
