Now that McKenna has left, let's target Fletcher.I can't stand seeing him there, doesn't make much sense.

Ah yeah fantastic point. Being a good player doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be a good manager. I guess we need to sack him from the manager role he currently has. Well argued. What Fletcher has won as a player holds absolutely no bearing on his abilities as a coach or manager. Most of the time these two things are not connected. Zidane is an exception, not the rule. Sir Alex was not a great player but a great Manager. Maradonna was a great player and average manager.
You don’t think Ralf, a notorious control freak and micro manager, has asked Fletcher to assist with his coaching? You think Fletcher is just doing whatever he wants?Who knows who is better but I would leave the responsibility to Ralf and his coaching staff that he brought in
I'm not targeting anyone, but how many clubs have a Technical Director acting as an assistant manager? What has Fletcher achieved as a coach? He's only coached the under 16's.Now that McKenna has left, let's target Fletcher.
apparently he was straight on the phone to them after the first training session offering greenwood and sancho to them for 5m€I trust him more than Ragnick. At least he understands what it takes to be successful. Ralf and his boys don’t know anything outside the MLS or the let-Bayern-beat-us-liga. Hopefully he’s still here well after the current staff are gone.
Well Ralf has either asked for it or us ok with itWho knows who is better but I would leave the responsibility to Ralf and his coaching staff that he brought in
So Ralf and his trusted coaching team is asking fletcher to get his views and tactics across on the pitch? You don’t think Ralf, a notorious control freak and micro manager, has asked Fletcher to assist with his coaching? You think Fletcher is just doing whatever he wants?
If so, I have a bridge to sell you…
That says more about youI can't stand seeing him there, doesn't make much sense.
Err.. noI wonder if there was too much redundancy in Murtough/Fletcher/Rangnick's future role and now they're just shoe horning him back into being a generic coach because he's an ex player and a nice guy etc etc
Good to see your posts are equally shit when outside the F1 threads. If only we could start playing with such consistency.I wonder if there was too much redundancy in Murtough/Fletcher/Rangnick's future role and now they're just shoe horning him back into being a generic coach because he's an ex player and a nice guy etc etc
We can only speculate but I’m leaning more towards the senior management team making the decision of including Fletcher in the technical areaWell Ralf has either asked for it or us ok with it
This is absolute nonsense. Ralf is the manager. There is zero chance he would just let someone undermine him and take over the coaching of the team… that’s insane. So Ralf and his trusted coaching team is asking fletcher to get his views and tactics across on the pitch?
Fletcher presence in the technical area is instructed by the senior management team IMO
I have clarified in post 46.That says more about you
Cheers. I'd comment on your posts but I can't for the life of me remember any. Keep up the good work.Good to see your posts are equally shit when outside the F1 threads. If only we could start playing with such consistency.
He was actually shouting something randomly in the air trying to make himself important tooAnyone see Fletcher giving instructions towards the end of the game and Mike Phelan leaning against the brick wall like he was some sort of security personnel
More concerned about Darren Fletcher than Chris Armas or Ewan Sharp… bizarre.I think it’s crazy how people are now turning on Fletcher yet are ok with MLS coaches coming in
here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter. Find something else to worry about in your lives
Who said fletcher is taking over the coaching of the team? This is absolute nonsense. Ralf is the manager. There is zero chance he would just let someone undermine him and take over the coaching of the team… that’s insane.
No they don't, it's absolutely mental.More concerned about Darren Fletcher than Chris Armas or Ewan Sharp… bizarre.
Do other clubs’ fans do this? Fixate on who the manager’s assistants are and what they do? I’m sure it’s just United’s weird fan base.
I do see the point of wondering about the guy who got the job based on his history with the club and has since moved jobs with no one really understanding what he is actually doing, rather than the coaches brought in by the new, well respected manager.More concerned about Darren Fletcher than Chris Armas or Ewan Sharp… bizarre.
If Rangnick is comfortable with that, why should anyone complain about it?I'm not targeting anyone, but how many clubs have a Technical Director acting as an assistant manager? What has Fletcher achieved as a coach? He's only coached the under 16's.
Didn't we just sign that Ewan Sharp guy to be the assistant manager?
It just seems like muddled thinking all round. Not good.
Ralf Rangnick boys got ManUtd job just because they were associated with RB clubs.I do see the point of wondering about the guy who got the job based on his history with the club and has since moved jobs with no one really understanding what he is actually doing, rather than the coaches brought in by the new, well respected manager.
It's weird. First it was Carrck and McKenna, now Fletcher. We must be the only fanbase in history who needs to know the intimate details of everyone's job from the U11s coach to the tea lady. I don't think there's a single person's opinion on this board regarding our coaching staff that isn't worth immediately discarding, because we don't know.
No they don't, it's absolutely mental.
No to what?Err.. no
I was saying no because you insinuate that Fletcher is in his job because he’s a nice guy. I’m saying that’s nonsense. He’s a very smart guy who murtough hired. Him helping out at the sidelines is probably nothing more than developing Fletcher in various aspectsNo to what?
There's definitely going to be redundancy once Ralf goes into his consultancy role. Forget Fletcher, even just between him and Murtough. Normally there's no chance the sporting director would want to hire an interim manager who would then go on to take an almost identical role to them with a different job title. It's only happened because Murtough really rates Rangnick and wants to work with him.
The coaching is just one aspect of his wide ranging roleNo problems with Fletch but if he is an assistant coach, just call him an 'assistant coach'
Why all the fancy titles?
Did you see Murtough quote? This is just one part of his job.No problems with Fletch but if he is an assistant coach, just call him an 'assistant coach'
Why all the fancy titles?
The coaching is just one aspect of his wide ranging role
Ah right, fair enough. Yeah I saw the quote now.Did you see Murtough quote? This is just one part of his job.
I don't have issue with him coaching at all. Not now there's someone there with experience for them to learn from. I'd take Carrick back and ditch the MLS guy as well if given the choice.I was saying no because you insinuate that Fletcher is in his job because he’s a nice guy. I’m saying that’s nonsense. Rangnick will be consultant, not DoF.I don't have issue with him coaching at all. Not now there's someone there with experience for them to learn from. I'd take Carrick back and ditch the MLS guy as well if given the choice.
But I think Rangnick becoming a second DOF will probably mean Fletcher will have to tread the path of the coach rather than the technical director long term.
I never said or implied he needed to be sacked. No need to make stuff up and lie. You said that Fletcher “won lots of shit as a player” and I just told you why it holds no bearing on his current role.Ah yeah fantastic point. Being a good player doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be a good manager. I guess we need to sack him from the manager role he currently has. Well argued.
I don’t know how it will work between murtough and RR. That is the question. But I would assume that Fletcher would still do his various roles as they are nowI don't have issue with him coaching at all. Not now there's someone there with experience for them to learn from. I'd take Carrick back and ditch the MLS guy as well if given the choice.
But I think Rangnick becoming a second DOF will probably mean Fletcher will have to tread the path of the coach rather than the technical director long term.
He will be a 'consultant' DOF.Rangnick will be consultant, not DoF.
I knowWhere to even start with this
