Hypothetically, if we actually went for major changes to the squad which players would you desperately like to retain?

Apart from the youth that haven't been given chances (Mejbri, Laird, Garner, etc.) I'd say Mason and Bruno. I think I'd not be desperate to retain anyone else. Happy with quite a few more, but not desperate for them to stay and then a host of players I think don't work for various reasons.

I tend to agree, there are very few you would shed a tear for. It's a sad indictment of where we are.

Not including youth products:

Bruno as I think he's proven his class but there is work to do to ensure he actually plays a team role in a functioning side.

Greenwood and Sancho because they're young and have ability, but must improve.

Varane and Maguire because realistically we've dropped big money on them, we have to get better out of them and keep the former fit. Hypothetical or not I think it makes more sense to keep some semblance of reality.

Thats about it, I think the future of the rest can be on the table depending on the market. There is a limit to what you can do in one or two windows but naturally if good offers came in for somebody I think they have to be considered.

Greenwood? I fear a little for him though

He's spent his formative years in the worst possible dressing room for a kid.

I really don’t understand the hate for McTominay. He actually cares for the club and you need players like him the squad. We just need 3 midfielders to address the major hole and a replacement for Carrick.

And the other reserve lads that haven’t featured yet.

Maybe Rashford but only if he massively turns it on before the end of the season

I cant understand so many people would keep shaw. Hes had 1.5 good seasons in 7. He never looks fully fit and always has a mistake in him.

Hed be one of the first out the door for me.

Trying to be remotely realistic but accepting a loss of about 13 players, excluding youngsters.

DDG
Henderson
Jones - if he can stay fit
Maguire - with a kick up his arse
Varane
Dalot - as a squad option for both FBs
Shaw
Fred - on a seriously intense coaching program
McT
Bruno
VDB - desperate to see him be a success, but not sure why
Ronaldo
Rashford - with a kick up the arse and wage fines for every time he flung his arms in the air at another team mate
Sancho
Greenwood

So I'd need a starting RB, two starting CMs and another wide player (I'd have Greenwood as ST with Ronaldo as impact player across the front line).

------------------------DDG------------------------
RB------Varane------Maguire------Shaw
----------------CM----------CM------------------
RW/Sancho------Bruno-------Sancho/LW
--------------------Greenwood------------------

Bench: Rashford, VDB, McT, Fred, Dalot, Jones, Henderson

There's a base for a spine of a team there that with the right additions can challenge imo.

The only players I’d be genuinely sad to see leave are Greenwood and Bruno. One is going to be a brilliant player and the other already is one. I’d also like to see Varane and Sancho settle within a decent side

From De Gea to McTominay to Rashford, even through to Ronaldo, any of the others could leave tomorrow and I wouldn’t give a rat’s arse.

Not that I’d actively sell the others; that’s different. But they’re all replaceable and can be on their way if that’s what they want.

That's pretty much the first team in this awful season.

Wouldnt be bothered about a single one of them leaving. I dont really feel any connection to any of them like I have many other players in the past.

Pogba? The bloke who takes the winter off every year to party in Dubai?
We need his quality in the middle of the park. Hard to link him to the current unrest too, he’d be the first on everyone’s list.

That counts for feck all when you're as hopeless at football as he is.

It's simple, all the running and passion can't hide the fact he isn't good at this level.

I think a bloke who’s on £300k a week who fecks off to Dubai every winter and then let’s us know when he’s fit to come back is pretty much going to cause massive issues behind the scenes. No one else seems to get that perk when they’re injured, and no one else is paid that much to do so either. His team mates have every right to be livid with him and whoever’s allowed that to happen.

We can argue all day long about Pogba being quality but we have to agree he’s hardly done it for United. We’d be better with a midfield of McGinn and Neves for example.

Greenwood - Future of this club, i hope
Lindelof - Been our best defender for a while surprisingly, doesn’t kick up a fuss and is unproblematic
Bruno - Think he has high standards even if he drops some stinkers
Varane - Has won it all and class
Sancho - Hopefully we’ve not completely ruined him yet

Everybody else id gladly be rid of tomorrow and not shed a tear, people on about McTominay, are you kidding? ‘He gets the club’ so? He is one of the worst footballers ive seen and if he stayed and we got quality midfielders he wouldnt even make the bench, he’s one of our major issues, notof the required quality

Id especially want to get rid of Maguire, JLingz, Rashford, Mata, Martial, Pogba

He’s definitely not the only player who’s done their recovery abroad ffs.

Maybe if Manutd go Lampard way if funds are availble and bring 7 or so players and shake the team. Thats why chelsea are now a good team with strenth in depth

Greenwood I’d be gutted if we lost, Sancho we need more time to see, Varane is a class act, Amad I want to see how good he can become, until this season Rashford was always a player I’d want to have kept but hearing really iffy stories about his behaviour now.

I can’t say I’d be too disappointed if any of the others left currently

Exactly. He’s not got the quality to be a regular starter here, but a vital rotational player that cares about the club and works hard.

What a question........ When you look around at our squad and the teams above us, there are so many of our players who would excel in those teams. Whether it's a rotten dressing room and atmosphere who knows but it's just as hard to decide who to keep as lose. For me....

Greenwood
Sancho
McTominay (purely work ethic, good example to others and as a bench option)
Henderson
De Gea
Bruno (would have to sort his ego out re not being the main man)

Definitely feels like the club and team is coming apart at the seams. Have we finally bottomed out?

Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho, Bruno, McTominay, kids that still did not get a chance for sure like Amad, Mejbri, Laird...

I think there is only really one player I wouldn't want us to lose, and that's greenwood.

After that, maybe Shaw at a push, maybe Bruno. Though in reality the rest I wouldn't really care if they left provided we actually brought in a better replacement.

DDG - The man doesnt get enough praise
Greenwood - Still has time
McTominay - More than good enough to be a rotanial player

Can't fandom people having DvB and Pogba in their list
