3 goals 2 assists in 44 BuLi matches, featured 8 minutes in Gladbach's last 13 matches, despite never being injured. Gladbach loaned him last year, probably because Rose knew him from Salzburg.

He always looked out of his depth, yet Rose kept subbing him on every single game, until it triggered an obligation to buy him. Which was also around the same time Rose himself must have comitted to Dortmund. :lol:

He must be one of the most frustrating Transfer stories in Gladbach's recent history, that €10m they paid for him was money they could have used to extend Ginter's contract.

Oh yeah, he definitely struggled to produce at Gladbach, but he wasn't that useless, was he? I do remember him having some decent moments last season where he'd offer more directness and attacking intensity. I just didn't think that he'd be linked to Swansea of all clubs. It might work out for him given that his playing style might suit Swansea and the Championship in general, but personally, I wasn't expecting Wolf to be linked to Swansea.

Reminds me of Rooney to an extent. Good finisher who has the footballing intelligence to also interlink the play, good balance on the ball, has the physicality to play in the league.

The only possibility that remains is selling Lingard this month to a club that's not a top 4 rival. That'll be difficult for United given Lingard's current suitors. I don't think there's a team outside of the Premier League that's particularly keen on Lingard, either, so the club's hands are tied.

The people who run our club have got to be the dumbest feckfaces in the world.

Get a loan fee from Newcastle, and let him go there on loan, let them cover 100% of his wages and then he's gone in the summer. That's a good move that suits all parties! Why are we so dumb when it comes to moving players on.

I think intensity was the one thing he actually consistently brought to the table. Other than that it was maybe a few hopeful moments here and there, but otherwise mostly a player, who was visibly out of his depth. But having said that: Gladbach paid €11m for him, so he's probably on fairly generous wages for someone with his performances. It could be that, because of Corona, Gladbach have a firm position (e.g. no free loan, not paying part of the wages) and no club in Bundesliga wants to take a gamble like him currently, so Swansea get him, because they are the only ones willing to spend the money.

Yeah, that's a fair point. He'll probably make up for what they've been missing ever since Dan James left them, so even if he's not getting a ton of goals + assists, he can definitely improve their goalscoring prospects, overall.

Although they do have to start as they mean to go on. If they get a reputation for paying over the odds now they'll be in awful trouble by the time they're in the market for the Haaland's/Mbappe's of this world.

Wonderful point. To add to it, this is exactly why we, along with a lot of other premier league teams, get to cherry pick players from other leagues. We can offer them better wages, but this makes it a double edged sword.

Paying more than others means everyone wants to join you, but no one is willing to leave too. We can't really have it both ways.

And that's basically the start and end of it. Yes, you have the right "to get angry" at clubs from other countries wanting you to pay part of the wages, but it's only because we don't pay those types of wages to players. You do. So if you want to benefit from the loan, from either a performance or financial aspect, you have to help out.

I can imagine it being frustrating for you, but so is losing players to the EPL for astronomical wages.

I think Haaland will want a move to either Barca or Real no matter what Raiola says.

I don’t think Pogba gets that kind of deal anywhere this summer. He’s been too injury prone and too poor on the pitch to command that sign on fee and wages. Maybe Newcastle if that’s what he wants but none of the big European clubs will pay it.

Rooney wanted to leave when we replaced Ronaldo with Bebe. Tevez, iirc, didn't want to leave. We didn't want to pay the money.
