What a waste. Always liked him as a player but the last few years have been a shambles. The Sanchez signing coupled with his seemingly weak attitude ruined him. It says a lot that the best we can get for him now is a fecking loan.
Yeah, it's a massive waste, although ultimately it's down to him - he clearly lacks the mentality to succeed at a top club.

Of all our players, he's the one who'd have benefited the most from Fergie.

That’s an interesting take, and I’m sure there’s something in it.

I’m not sure why either or both won’t continue to be issues for him in Spain though. La Liga is less physical for sure, but if what you say is correct physicality isn’t the problem.
I think his style of play suits a more technical, less physical game. Those days where he doesn't know why its not working for him will be less frequent.

What a shame.

I really think that Martial had everything to be a top draw player. Only he can know why he's being loaned out to Seville, when he should be one our star players.

I think he'll do well at Seville mind you.

Rashford definitely isn’t treated like a God but you do see it said quite regularly that he improved year on year since coming into the first team where as Martial has apparently been rubbish since his first season. That narrative is very weird when you look at their stats, they’ve both been wildly inconsistent while still being amongst our better performers post-Fergie.
Again where do you see that? It's pretty common now in his match day thread that apparently he's been shit for 2 years now despite him putting up relatively decent numbers in back to back seasons.

I’ve seen it said quite a few times on here, I’m not going to start quoting old posts but just like Martial has his die hard fans, so does Rashford, there’s a few posters in particular who take shots at Martial to defend Rashford, and vice versa.

Even discounting those posters, the general consensus is that Martial has been poor almost throughout his time here, are you saying that Rashford is perceived the same way?

Does not have the mentality to achieve what his talent would allow him to. Hopefully he never comes back.

Genuinely hoping he tears it up there. Might convince them to make the deal permanent, or failing that other clubs might be interested.

Happy with the move, but it would also be nice if we actually learned to sell players properly instead of kicking the can further by just loaning them out. Would rather we kept the loans for young players needing game time.

The quotes from that article in the Athletic: -

So basically the club gave up a loan fee so Seville can pay Martial's wages in full
It's the best we were ever going to get. Saved a million a month for a guy who won't play.

Shit move. We are playing in 3 competitions and we are giving away for free our best left winger.

Why is Sevilla loaning him in? Are they short on attackers? Or does Monchi see something in Martial?

Good luck to him, as others have said hope he does amazing and they want to sign him or someone else does. A lot of respect to him for not being satisfied with very few minutes.

He'll do well in Spain where they will counter attack more and he'll have more space generally. For a mere 5-6m he could prove very shrewd for them as they challenge for multiple trophies.

Shame. When he arrived it looked like we'd signed a high class natural finisher. But he hasn't shown the attitude or effort that would make the most of that talent.

Not good enough for us, we should have a higher standard for our wide players.

A great move for all parties. When he’s up for it, Tony us a magnificent footballer who dazzles and produces. Tragically, Tony just isn’t up for it very often. Hopefully the loan move will reboot his joie de vivre.

Getting rid of a player he doesn’t rate, thus freeing up salary space in order to bring in a player he himself wants? Rangnick has a massive reason to lie about it.

So relax a bit.
Being a manager isn’t about surrounding yourself with people you like, it’s about getting the most out of the people around you. Getting rid of someone who’s not pulling in the same direction as the rest of the group is a must if you ever want to achieve anything in any line of work, and it’s not an easy decision to make but good managers make these assessments quickly and act quickly.

Honestly yes, i wouldn't put it past this fan base.

If that's honestly the wage we are paying him, we are the dumbest club on the planet
So did he take a pay cut or not? Because he was getting massive credit yesterday for taking one but that €6m loan fee covers his wages for 6 months exactly, which is generally what a ‘loan fee’ is.

Most top managers will ditch players that don't suit them.

Why stop there? Imagine he scored a hat trick, ripped his shirt off to expose a “United till I die” tattoo across his chest, ran over to the camera and screamed “I’m not fecking leaving” while flashing Ralf his cock and balls. If we’re imaging shit we might as well go wild.

I don’t see any issues with this move. We have Sancho, Rash and Elanga who can play at LW. If he does well, we can auction him off and make some money.

He might genuinely win La Liga with them, Seville under Lopetegui are decent but lack a top goalscorer, if Tony can get firing they're only a few points behind Real.

He's spent few years here, his teammates like him, it's literally the best surrounding he can get, and his problem has always been his lack of effort, so I really doubt going to Sevilla will help him a lot. He is not a kid anymore.

His problem has always been mentally, and his lack of effort, I don't see how letting him go far away where we won't have any control over him will make him better player.

Give me one example where well run club lets player under their contract in similar situation go on a loan?
Chelsea do it frequently.

Just this season they've loaned out Bakayoko, Emerson, Kenedy, Batshuayi, Rahman and Drinkwater.

It's actually mental these players are still owned by Chelsea. All were essentially purchased and put on long contracts and were shipped out either straight away or after flopping in the first year. And people think our recruitment is bad

I don't think anyone will be surprised if he goes there and scores a lot of goals.

He has loads of ability, just hasn't seemed in the right frame of mind for a lot of his time at Old Trafford

I see a lot of posters speak about his attitude issues but honestly I think his actual abilities have been overrated vastly. Berbatov is probably the last player I'd watched with similar body language but there was no doubting his ability even if he's branded a flop by some. Martial wouldn't be even anywhere close to him for me.
