Didn't know who Luis Diaz was until yesterday, but I can see why Klopp would want him at Liverpool - blazing speed, nifty feet and seems to be a good finisher from what I've seen in one YouTube compilation, the rest will be drilled into him by Klopp. Could fit in seamlessly perhaps if everything goes smooth although Klopp has a habit to slowly integrate players.

Can someone help me out, I thought he was a striker but seems to be more of a left midfielder/forward who cuts inside and runs into space? So that would be Mane's position at Liverpool?

A club that had Mason, Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Cavani and Ronaldo moved to bring in Sancho

Minamino and Ox are meh, the fab three getting old. Firmino might leave, they're really not that stacked
Terrific long term planning by the club I have to say. A mixture of players the club doesn't want and massively past it players on eye watering wages.

i wouldn’t get too ahead of yourself, it’s early stages. it might turn out he doesn’t have asthma.

England UK!

Jade Moore (central midfielder) used to play under Marc Skinner at Orlando Pride.

Most recently:

Signe Bruun is on loan from Lyon (a powerhouse in women's football) and used to play for PSG before this. She's a 23-year-old striker and is an exciting talent, apparently.
Signs bruun is a very exciting signing. She’s very good. Excited to see her play

If both Pearce and Joyce are reporting it, I'm quite confident it'll be done unless we Fékir it up.

So a team that has Salah, Mane and Jota as options move to bring in Diaz, whereas we continue to limp on with McFred.

This club has zero ambition, feck off.
A stupid comparison. Liverpool had the chance to add real quality. We don’t, there is no one available in the CM / CDM role of real quality.

Yes, Rashford is massively past it and/or the club doesn't want him.
Hence why his name was bolded by mistake.

The club has made it clear what it thinks of Martial and Lingard. Cavani came with a suspect injury record that has only gotten worse, and if you think Ronaldo was anything less than a Glazer money-grab you're delusional.

Greenwood, Rashford and Sancho can/will be fantastic options, but the planning and balance of this squad needs proper addressing, and has done for years.

Diaz is a very Jota like astute signing. Looks tailor made for the Premier League.

Don't know anything about Dias, but Mané played on the right before Salah came, didn't he?
It would merely mean that you have 3 top options for 2 positions, which is honestly the minimum. Or 5 top option for 3 positions if we include Firmino and Jota.
So to me, this signing doesn't mean an overload at all, it only covers a need that's you've been having since several seasons.
I'm also interested to see what the player can do, he's supposed to be rather good to watch.

Oh yeah definitely agree, we desperately needed cover up front. Now one or two up and coming midfielders and we should be good for another few years imo.

There was similar fanfare with Naby Keita and Minamino.
Thank god he has been so injury prone!

Dont remember the fanfare for Minamino, but it was a smart signing. A flop, but they will probably make money on him. Wonder how big profit they will make on Minamino if they sell 200 %?

There was a big fuss made on here that United didn’t get Minamino from memory.

Providing you’re not spending another £60m on a Keita
A shitload of hits in the transfer market yet you're focusing on Keita ;) He wasn't £60m by the way and neither will Luis Diaz be it seems.

Ok shortcake who would you go for?
Is the measure of whether there's anyone decent available resting on a random caf poster now? I mean it takes one tweet and suddenly new midfield options become caf favourites, perhaps fans don't a sufficient view.

This lazy 'no one available' line is repeated nearly every window to excuse our lack of midfield reinforcement. It's evidently bollocks because that can't be the case.

We paid like £7m for him, he would've needed to not play a game for us in order to be considered a flop imo. Not first XI material but serviceable and good squad filling for cup games.

Nah he's definitely been a flop. The very fact that it's him and not someone better take up that position in the squad and salary makes him a bad signing.
Not even good squad filler. The sooner he moves on the better.

Just adding perspective. You admittedly hadn’t heard of him a few minutes ago yet now he’s helping set you up for years to come in the future!

Is it? Two summers ago when we brought in VDB, people thought that in depth we had a very strong midfield. Matic, Fred, Mctominay, Pogba, VDB looked good enough, and frankly we got 2nd place (although we know that was well above our standards). This summer we spent almost the entire budget on Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo with reports saying we probably had around 20 mill for a midfielder, but that wasn't enough to bring in a starter.

This January we could probably dip into our summer budget to bring in a CM/CDM but for us to do that we'd want to bring in actual starting quality not just another squad player. For a week the caf favourite was Zakaria, but it seems we have actively scouted and decided against him. There's Haidara, who plays in a similar role to both Fred and McTominay and his 40 mill release clause isn't active until the summer and RB Leipzig don't want to sell now anyway. The one people seem to be hoping for is João Palhinha, but is he much better than options who would become available in the summer. It has been reported a fair few times by The Athletic that midfield is our focus this summer.

It has always been United's line that they don't buy in January unless it is a player worth buying.

Well he's obviously a generational talent, having looked at his YouTube compilation for almost 5 minutes.

Errr....no club buys in January or indeed the summer unless they think " it is a player worth buying" by definition.

That is just a club line that is put out as an excuse.

Have we leaked to reporters that the club are "relaxed about our current midfield options" yet, like we did in the summer?
