He should never have come back in the first place. He's stained his impeccable career by re-associating himself with United. Would've been better off going to City.

I think he’ll stay. Purely because no serious CL teams will want him at 37 at the 400 odd k we’re paying him

It was a nice fairytale while it lasted. Still a goal scorer, but his age is catching up with him and United are too much of an unstable team to suit him.

PSG? Just so they can claim they are the only team ever to have had Ronaldo AND Messi

Ronaldo should go but I think we'll get another season of him stinking it up here.

We don't like signing more than 3 first teamers per summer and we already have several positions which need filling. Plus Ronaldo is on a pretty cushty wage that he won't get elsewhere.

Good. No more of these geriatric strikers padding out their retirement funds please.

Ah yes, this is clearly true. The fact that we play in the CL this week has nothing to do with this story be printed.

More made up stories from the Mirror. I mean it is probably right but definitely not an 'exclusive' that we won't stand in his way if he wants to leave. Most would welcome it.

I can't see Messi and Neymar happy to play with Ronaldo, and i believe they have some veto power.
Too many egos.

Until Messi doesn't leave PSG, i can't see Ronaldo going there.

Honest to God, I don't have any ill will towards him. We needed a DM, and the Glazers penny pinched at the wrong time. I think the team needs a hard reboot now, and I think it's fair to both parties for everyone to go their separate ways.

Yeah they penny pinched by sanctioning moves for Sancho, Varane in the in the middle of a pandemic related revenue loss.

If you think this is penny pinching, I’d suggest looking around the league.

Ohh let him off. He is finished at the top level. Maybe if he weren't there along with Cavani we would have seen more from the younger players that we need in the next few years. I thought initially him coming would be a massive boost to morale and work ethic within the club but I think I was confusing him with the Ronaldo that wears the red of Portugal.

I have little doubt he would have signed for City had the opportunity arose, he mightn't be remembered as fondly then.

Team needed more though. Varane was a great deal, especially when you look at how much they spent on his partner. They spend forty to fifty million more, who knows how the season goes. I think it'll be better than possibly a fifth or sixth finish.

He has nowhere to go in Europe, only Sporting Lisbon.
Is he down to reduce his massive wages to keep playing UCL with Sporting? And even if that's the case, i don't see him enjoying being spanked in Europe by superior teams.
Sporting is a tier 3 team, Ronaldo is a GOAT with winner mentality, unless he is a sadomasochist i doubt he would enjoy being destroyed in Europe, no matter if he scores or not.

He isn't going to MLS,Japan,Qatar,China, etc he is way too competitive to play in such leagues, he knows he will become irrelevant there, even if he scores hatricks every weekend against amateur defenses.

Strange thing to say. I’m looking at the rest of the league and they are getting amazing nee stadiums and investing heavily despite far less earnings.

The Glazers are still taking dividends and paying their debt off with the clubs money. They haven’t invested any money into other areas of the club such as the stadium. The least we can expect is that some of the clubs profit is reinvested into the squad.

So here we have another exclusive with regards to a topic that has no direct quotes from any person who will be in a position to push through a move away from the club, or the agency for an agreement in order for a player to stay at the club.

File under common understanding of the situation by the layperson.

Potential to happen, but this is not a scoop. More of a nuanced view of what is expected to happen. i.e Ronaldo to leave if we don’t get CL.

Stephen Howson (who is close to Rio who is still friendly with Ronaldo) thinks Cristiano might have a release clause if we don't qualify for the CL. I kinda wouldn't mind if this were the case tbh. I still like Ronaldo as a player and his high professional standards are what the club needs but his presence does weaken the overall dynamic and I hope we can get more energy and youth up front - Jonathan David, Charles De Ketelaere, Darwin Nunez, Hugo Ekitike etc.

I can no longer blame them if they don't spend big if I am honest. The money we've spent is not the issue, the fact the vast majority of players we've signed over recent years have turned out to be duds is.

Stinking it up constitutes being the 4th top scorer in the league and scoring 6 in 5 in the Champions League does it? Nobodies saying he's been great but jesus, I wish we had more players stinking it up that badly.

I agree the money spent isn’t the issue. However, you think the Glazers shouldn’t take any blame for how they have wasted the clubs money?

It’s their business and their responsibility to fix their mess. The managers and scouting dept don’t own the club, the glazers do.

PSG? They will loss Mbappe this summer, and they could easily afford his wage and demand.

They turned down the chance to bid for him before he began stinking up the place at United this season. They won't go near him this summer.

I think moving to Sporting next season maybe too soon, they surely couldn't afford his wage, and he is not going to progress further in CL with Sporting. Maybe when he is nearly 40 he would move there, but not now, he still have 2 years left in top level I reckon. I know it sounds strange as he is already 37, but he is still by far our top scorer this season, and had won a few player of the match and player of month award this season already.

I can’t see him leaving.

PSG have committed to Messi, and they won’t have him and Ronaldo in the same frontline.

Zero issue with him staying either, we just need to manage his minutes and the squad better.

You should stay away

I was hyped for this return, but he is finished at the top level. And he isn't getting any younger. Better he go somewhere else. Getting rid of his wage alone will take a load off the club and let us sign someone else.

I don't believe he will leave though, even if we don't make CL, which I think we will. Who will take him?

Do we need someone to be talking, for Us to put two and two together and realise that this will be Ronaldo’s only season with United.

He came under the auspices that he would help the club improve. We haven’t.

His form has been terrible (even with the bar set at normal EPL standard, never mind one of the ‘greatest players ever’ standard).

He’s slower, doesn’t seem so want to track back and do the dirty work, he is not playing with players that can service him, there is a bit of a numpty as a captain and he hasn’t taken over the armband from them.

He will want to go out with a bang. He won’t do that at United next season.
He’s away.

So what we have is something that is easy to see (Ronaldo leaving), and a tabloid pumping it out there, before the Leeds game.

Can really see Ronaldo leaving in the summer and us bringing Pochettino in then Pochettino bringing Kane in, the PSG fans would have turned on Pochettino even more after the loss last night and if they lose to Real next week that’ll be it for him.
