It’s the off-camber 90° left that keeps fecking me, traction goes so easily. I’ve not been back at it since before the match but from memory I’m .04 away from gold but haven’t been able to get close to that again since.
That corner or the sweeping right hander that tightens slightly halfway round . My ghost seems to get away from me on one of those two each try.

Just passed it with gold. 37.634. The long right hander is where I made up or lost time in all my runs. You need to time being tucked in, edging out and then tucking back in perfectly. It’s a pain.

Also if haven’t already turn off counter steering. Game changing!
Nice one.

I was concerned about how it would play with a pad as I don’t really have a good way to set up a wheel, and last one I played extensively was GT5 which was miles better with a wheel and not that enjoyable with a pad as it did not have proper sense of speed even with faster cars.

Turns out DualSense is perfect for racing games with strong feedback. It has been super enjoyable.

To be fair IB-4 sucked as well as IB-3, but once you get those you guys will smash the others, they’re relatively straight forward.

How the feck do you do A10. I’m ahead of the ghost car throughout the whole thing but on the last turn it seems like it’s done a line of coke and zooms ahead. HOW IS HE ACCELERATING THAT QUICKLY

This could mean I will assemble the chair. Where though? It will cause problems at home.

Is it good with DS4? Or Will I need to kick my wife out to play the good way.

All this license talk has got me wanting to get involved. I've been since I got my console at launch for this, but typically with all bills rising I don't know if I can justify it.

I went to my garage and went on the cinematic video of my car driving through different scenes, and oh.my.god it looks unreal. Wish it could be my permanent tv screensaver. Was like watching a demo in a tech store.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how much has been added to the game outside of the racing itself too?

The fact that there's detailed descriptions on the history of every single car you own, and when going to the showroom, having manufacturer adverts/historical timelines for every single brand is oustanding, and really embraces my inner car geek.

The perfect racing game for the love of cars tbh.

Absolutely, and speaking as a petrolhead, it's a beautiful thing that's been literally drenched in quality. The sound especially, through my Sony headset is awesome, some of the cars have a proper bass note to them and all the crackling / popping from the exhaust pipe as you're easing off the throttle is brill!

I have only two niggles with it.

1.The tracks / scenery really haven't moved on since GT Sport, they still look about the same which I've found a little disappointing. The cars are totally sublime mind you.
2. Doing the licenses, why isn't there just an option to go to the next test? So many button presses to get from one to the other. You have to press X every inch of the way. Load of irritating bollocks.

Struggle to mark it down beyond those two things.

Shame I had to come into work today, I was clearly in the right place this morning. Had half an hour on GT7 before work and did IB-3, IB-4 and IB-5 :)

Really like the dirt stages, good fun and the physics feel great.
Yeah I’m loving the dirt ones too.

I didn’t go into work today… and making full use of “flexible working” to spend the morning on GT - I’m up to S-3 now, all gold.

Agreed on both too. The graphics of the wider environment really do look stale when you focus in, apart from some. And the no next button thing is fricking annoying.

I would say though, they’ve taken wet weather racing to another level with the splashing of puddles etc. although the spray looks naff.

All the incremental detail about the cars etc really is awesome I must say. They’ve made this thing really immersive.

Yeah, the wet weather effects are lovely and the cars, I really think they're about as good as they can get now. I really would hope that Polyphony Digital will spend time on the environments for the next instalment. With better looking scenery, you'd be talking about a perfect game.

The minute I get paid this month I'm going to buy a racing gaming chair and steering wheel.

I have £100 in amazon vouchers and this game has absolutely made me want to spend that on a steering wheel. Back to the best of Gran Turismo. I’ll definitely be sinking as many hours as I did on the PS1 - PS3 versions.

Yeah, that's Steve, right? Funny enough, I started watching him a couple of months ago. He's been doing a lot of videos on GT 7 recently and I've been watching those, too, and I don't even own the game. Generally not a fan of many Youtubers, but this guy is great. Obviously very good at the game, but he's also very chill.

Seems like a good dude.

Not sure of his real name, all the videos I’ve seen he just goes by his screen name but yea he’s really good.

It seems like the hardest part of being an artist is constantly reinventing yourself without losing what made you good in the first place.

It takes a great deal of skill to do that yet I find myself at 30, feeling the same way I did at 12-14 about this game. For all the shit he ate for GT5 (which was just a massive let down considering the hype), Yamauchi hasn't stopped working on his original idea and now he's at the point where he's potentially dropped his best game. 25 years doing virtually the same shit and your most recent iteration is arguably your best is pretty fecking impressive.

I think GT Cafe is utterly brilliant. Its nothing super unique or game changing but its approach to this style of game just gives a much more gratifying take on car collecting. Similarly, its a tribute to Japanese RPG like games (I get big Yakuza vibes from it) but it certainly adds depth and quality over all. I also reckon it has been setup for expansion much like missions.

I wasn’t gonna get it. I wasn’t gonna pay £65 for it. It’s coming tomorrow….
