Big boys vs school kids, started off well but if you don’t score it doesn’t mean shit. Rashford was a disgrace he came on and made us worse, don’t see what Ralf was expecting from him as that’s all your gonna get they guy doesn’t give a shit anymore. Fred has all of a sudden remembered he’s a Brazilian showing us some flare:drool: he did ok and was my MOTM.

In truth, the 21/22 season was over the moment Ole was awarded the contract extension. It was reasonable to have hope, but surely no one is surprised we got knocked out of the CL in March, right?
And when the idiotic board decided that he "earned" a right to steady the ship.

tactically lost. We were also not able to create chances. I love bruno, but stop nagging man! he needs to stop this. He loses focus. Maguire was bad as usual. Sometimes i feel he creates a mistake (dribbling around himself in his penalty box!!). Full backs weak. Today’s mctiminay is the bad one. Sancho wasn’t good, elanga bad. We are really terrible!

fred and ronaldo were good in the first half but faded away later

Some players should not see the first team again. Maguire being on top of the list. The season is gone - won’t even finish 4th for sure.

never thought I'd say this but subbing off fred killed any momentum we had. pogba didnt have a kick. dalot poor today. you could see sancho getting vexed at telles for crap overlaps, rashford looked visibly scared, bruno with his 1 man press, elanga shouldn't have been subbed- did he switch sides with sancho even once? tactically inept and played into their hands hook, line, sinker. oh and maguires renowned defensive headers even under no pressure were shocking.

We played well the first half.

The conceded goal, I thought, was quite a large part down to Maguire. Because he was so out of position, Dalot had no choice but to focus on the guy in the middle. Had he been back, Dalot would have covered the wide player.

Second half we were shit no doubt. But the bullshit from the AM players and the ref was a joke.

Rashford is just so awful at the moment, I’ve never seen such bad form from someone (relative to what they can do) that makes you wonder if it’ll come back. He needs to reset otherwise he is done here. Perhaps it’s already time.

Disappointing in the end.
Elanga didn't track back for the goal.

We won't win the title for a decade probably. So we may as well break up this squad and start over. For the money spent on it, in fees and wages, this squad may be the worst value in world football.

PS) Ref needs investigating

They are the masters of buying the softest of fouls, yet nothing doing for the two fouls in the build up for their goal, particularly when Fred was smashed into.. Much like handball, I don't even know what constitutes a foul anymore. It was so inconsistent. Dives were given, but players being smashed into wasn't.

Ball was barely in play for those last 30 minutes. Ref had no handle on the game. He made a soft attempt at making Koke leave the field by the nearest touchline when he was subbed, but he ignored it, and walked the length of the pitch to give Oblak the armband, and then walked back to the halfway line. We tried to take a quick free kick on 3 occasions in the last 15 minutes, and he stopped it every time. He stopped play every time an Atelico player went down, but play carried on when Dalot was hit in the face. The 'foul' on Oblak early in the game was indicative how the game was going to go. Zero consistency, and it was pretty much all against us.

We played well in the first half, bar one moment. But you knew they would bleed the clock in the 2nd half.

As most of you were predicting we would lose. Don't be surprised we lost. This side is going to take a while to rebuild, far too many players not good enough.

We played great in the first half, and despite all their shit dirty tactics in the second I still thought we were better. Typical we'd concede on one of their only chances. However we were never winning that game with a referee who was giving us absolutely nothing and buying everything Atletico were serving up to him.

Agree with Owen Hargreaves Athletico weren't that great but done their usual spoiling tactics.
We clearly played half decent in the firet half but didn't show in the second half when we needed to show up again.
The sooner the clear out begins the better. I don't care who leaves and to how many we ship out.
Yeah for sure. Whoever gets them next will take the lead and thatll be that for Atletico.

Decent for half an hour and then clueless thereafter. Ref was absolutely awful but if we want to win games we need to do much, much more. Hate AM as a club and can't wait until Simeone takes his band of shithousery elsewhere.
He's a prick. Not waiting for the end but running down the tunnel.

The referee was scandalous in the 2nd half and played entirely into Atletico's hands but we have to be better than that. Creating three or four chances in a half of football when Champions League football depends on it is really poor.

I mean how can a team play when there is no balance to it, Sancho looked tired, Rashford should have replaced him and Cavani should have replaced Elanga. Similarly, Matic should have replaced Maguire long ago. Pogba should have replaced Bruno and Fred should have stayed. Horrible balance, that’s why they simply couldn’t play in last 25 mins.

As shit as we were in the second half, we didn't have a chance with that referee and would likely have won if he'd done his job properly

One word. Harry. Maguire.

Add Paul Pogba to that. Shit, that's four words.

And Marcus Rashford.

That's the 3 that need to feck off from this club.
All will be well after that. Trust me.

Once these three feckers are out, we're winning the treble.
Maguire, Pogba and Rashford should not play again this season. Bruno should be warned he has to up his game, especially in the big games or he is gone as well. Start trying out the kids to see who is ready for first team squad and who needs a loan next season. Start the preparations.

We could have had an extra hour and not scored.
Yeah I said early on second half, we aren’t scoring tonight. We didn’t create anything, we were basically hoping for a set piece to come off

I feel sick.

If this was a football club it would follow the PSG route and start rolling some heads. Absolute embarrassment tonight.

Won't happen though. Carry on. The last CL game this club will see in years.

That will be our last Champions League game for quite a few years. The future of this football club is extremely bleak.

In that first half I thought you could see the team really taking to what Rangnick expects of them. Not that United were amazing, but they had good shape, well executed pressing and some decent quick passing.

Why they lost that shape and intensity in the second half I don't know. But the team reverted back to more static football, and less overlapping resulting in players on the wings just getting crowded by two or more Atleti players.

So frustrating but ultimately not good enough and in particular not good enough defensively in the 1st which cost us.
But in years gone by, going 1 nil down in the 1st half like that would have meant we would spend the rest of the game absolutely battering the opposition into submission.
This side hasn't the character or mentality to come back like that anymore. Instead we completely lost out heads and played right into their hands.

The ref was a shocker and played right into their hands but lets be honest, we could have played all through the night and not scored. That line up and formation( I use that loosely) at the end wouldn't win league 1. We are well out CL until we sort ourselves out.
On a positive note ETH will be signed by lunchtime tomorrow now he has proven to be at our level of choking.:smirk:

Maybe this is an overreaction but hear me out.
We are never going to even come close to winning another trophy ever again.

Yep. Fire sale.

Pogba is leaving so just the two wankers to sell.

A bag of peanuts and a boiled egg is what they're worth.

I just cannot be arsed watching this team, get rid of what you can, phase out the rest and just start again.

I would honestly take 5-6 years of building, it probably wouldn't even take that long with a bit of luck but let's be honest there is nothing to build on with this team, just blow it up.

Ronaldo seemed to be playing a lot on the wings. he should have been closer to the goal.

We basically got simoned tonight, where we were all over them first half and they scored. Not as good in the second half granted.

It was saying before the match it was going to be tight.

Better that then a two games humiliation by city or pool.

I am choosing positivity from now on !

Disappointing result, despite playing some decent football first half.
I'm always very loathe to blame players, and to say that player X or Y should be dropped, transferred out or left out of the squad. Maguire seemed to be targetted, especially first half, with the ball in behind, and I finally feel that it's probably time for Maguire to be left out, he seems more and more a liability in a back four, he may be better in a back three, but I think his race is run.
I really don't know what's happened to Rashford, he's just a shadow of the player we had a couple of years ago, shouldn't be anywhere near the squad at the moment. Why Sancho and Elanga didn't swap positions several times during the game I'll never know, also, apart from Matic, the subs didn't work at all, thought Fernandes was doing ok, but we certainly lost midfield when all three were subbed. Thought Mctominay did ok today, Fred very good again. Varane, De Gea, Telles all did ok.

I can live with this
I by no mean want to insult anyone or start a quarrel, but how the hell is it possible for a person to support a football team which so obviously plays ugly anti-football?

Don't get me wrong, at least Atleti has a game plan compared to United, but it just hurts my brain how dirty and unsportsmanlike at times Atleti plays. I know results is the only thing that matters as well, but this is just next level.
