And counting.

A decade without the league boys soon. We should have a big party next year.

No trophies perhaps, but what about all the incredible memories of the last five seasons?

We won’t be winning any trophies whilst the Glazers are the owners. ‘Brand United’ brings the money in, trophies are way down the list of priority. What a mess of a club!!

More like 9 years without trophy since we should only count CL and PL. FA Cup is for treble while Europe League is nothing.

Realistically it’s exactly the same problem we have had for a decade when teams pack the defence against us we just don’t know how to move the ball quick enough to pull them apart.

It's infuriating. Our club is infuriating.

When we gave Solskjaer the job full time did anyone genuinely expect him to win trophies? I doubt it. Why would you? He was a Molde and Cardiff manager. Yet we wasted 3 years on him. Why? Why do we keep making obvious and stupid mistakes? Why are fans complicit in the lowering of standards? Just why.
That's only the past 3 years too. There's 6 years of mistakes before that. It's a never ending mess, it's a constant shit show of stupidity and wasted money. No one learns anything. Trophies are something we can forget about for the foreseeable

And over those nine years, who has been a constant presence behind the scenes, in the boardroom and at games? SAF.

The club should have said thanks and goodbye in 2014, none of this 'club ambassador' rubbish and his meddling as a result: annointing Moysie & not picking Mourinho when he was decent, then picking Mourinho when he wasn't. Supporting Ole then undermining him with the Ronaldo should always start comment after the Everton match.... most specifically his silence on and therefore his tacit support of the Glazer family - whom he has done very well by actually & who came to the club on the back of his silly argument about a race-horse of all things.

How many decades of dross does the club have to suffer before the 20 years of success becomes tarnished?

Lets see what happens down the road in a few years time: do you think a) Pep will move on with a thank you and a big slice of that clubs history, reputation intact or b) he will hang around like an 'elder statesman' whom everyone looks up to and who occassionally make key, but misguided decisions until some fans actually wish he had just gone, let's see shall we, but my money is on (a).

Never been at a lower point as a fan and I've been going to games since the 80s.

It's not just the lack of trophies, but everything about the club. The owners, obviously, the stupid whiny players, the deluded fanbase, the tragic obsession with the past, our greatest youth prospect of recent times a potential rapist, all while arguably the two best teams in the world are Liverpool and City playing brilliant football and winning most of the trophies.

Assuming the leech owners stay, the only way we're going to get back to winning trophies is to make some very hard decisions, some of which may be unpopular with the online fanbase. Does Murtough and Fletcher have the balls to demand the real culture change? To remove saints like Rashford, Shaw, Maguire, to clearly say that we're winning nothing next year so no quick fixes with shiny superstar signings.

This is why I'm placing my only hope on Rangnick. I hope he stays and is given real power. His unromantic brutal clarity is exactly what this club needs.

Good post.
This is lowest I can remember since the 1986-87 season.

Probably further away from winning anything since SAF left. Clubs lining up to surpass us. It's just all a bit grim in reality. Sinking ship.

I wouldn't mind an actual rebuild rather the fake attempts we keep making while looking for quick fixes

Well said. I'm with you. Sadly, I expect Rangnick to be ignored not listened to. That's just how this club does things. We're well and truly in the mud.

Glazers out. That's the only way we get our club back. Protests will be coming back you can guarantee. This mess is on them and nobody else. They oversee everything and if people in important positions keep failing then maybe they should start employing more qualified people to begin with.

Making Woodward CEO and allowing him to run the football side of things was disastrous and has set us back 8 years.

Glazer scum out

Reset in summer, clear out, at least 8 players, bring in 4 quality ones, CM, CF, CB, RB, in those positions first imo. Look at the under23s see who we can promote from there.

To go. Pogba, Mata, Matic, Martial, Jones, Bially, Maguire, Henderson, Lingard, Cavani,
That's for starters, you got Others on loan who can be sold as well Tuenzabe, Pereira,
We've lost out on Greenwood who knows what's going to happen there?
Ronaldo, he may even go by himself , can you see him in Europe conference or whatever it is.
The biggest job ever for the CEO, starts today, on who to go and stay. Get the new guy in as soon as possible first.

Agreed with everything. I am secretly hoping that the necessary sh'tstorm that Rangnick has caused will lead to the reset/rebuild that this club urgently needs. My biggest fear is that Rangnick will be shown the door after the season ends or will be put away somewhere where he won't have the influence and the real dons of this club will continue steering this sinking ship.

13/14 - 7th, CL Quarters, FA Cup 3rd Round, League Cup Semis, Community Shield Winners
14/15 - 4th, FA Cup 6th Round, League Cup 2nd Round, no Europe
15/16 - 5th, FA Cup Winners, CL Groups, EL Ro16, League Cup 4th Round
16/17 - 6th, Community Shield Winners, League Cup Winners, EL Winners, FA Cup Quarters
17/18 - 2nd, FA Cup runners up, League Cup 5th Round, CL Ro16, Super Cup runners up
18/19 - 6th, FA Cup Quarters, League Cup 3rd Round, CL Quarters
19/20 - 3rd, FA Cup Semis, League Cup Semis, EL Semis
20/21 - 2nd, FA Cup Quarters, League Cup Semis, CL Groups, EL runners up
21/22 - currently 5th (could be worse), FA Cup 4th Round, League Cup 3rd Round, CL Ro16

Almost a decade and all we got to show for it are two Community shields, 1 FA Cup, 1 League Cup and 1 EL.

This season definitely feels like the worst it's been. Not a single decent cup run and finishing out the top 4. Wouldn't think so after the summer we had.

Worst group of players and coaching staff i've seen in my life time. Sell the lot of them except Elanga, u23's and Sancho. None of them are good enough or deserve to be in our first 11, we have a bunch of squad players bar Ronaldo and Sancho.

I have to just quote and respond to these two comments made today, because they encapsulate the problems and pitfalls of being a Man Utd. fan in a nutshell.

You will never get the Glazers out by fan power alone, because to criticise the Glazers is to criticise the manager who was in post when the Glazers came in and despite the odd rare exception, very few Man Utd. fans can bring themselves to do that. Hence they will pay money to sit in the Sir Alex Ferguson stand and watch dross, alongside Sir Alex Ferguson!

Smithy89 seemed to be on the right track when he started with "....worst group of players and coaching staff I've seen in my life time." But then he/she fell into the usual trap of looking back at the recent history through rose-tinted spectacles. Smithy89, why do you absolve Ronaldo of any of the blame (I assume you do as you say only he and Sancho are not 'squad players'). He got a hatrick vs Spurs at the weekend, but where was he last night and more importantly, where was he the week before when the Manchester Derby game took place? Injured some may say, but others have said he stropped off to Portugal when he heard he was only going to be on the bench. What a cnut. But just because he made his name at Utd under Saint Alex, he gets to be held in high regard.

Open your eyes Utd fans, don't just blame Rashford on the pitch and don't just blame Rangnick off it. Remember where the problems really started and remember who enticed the great Ronaldo back (on £2 million a month!) just last summer. You need a total reset including getting rid of the 'club ambassador' role.

But it won't ever happen.

Jose Mourinho best manager post Fergie
Easily. It went toxic and he was a fading force but clear, highest league points total since we last won it, two trophies and FA Cup final loss helped by some Phil Jones brilliance.

He knew this place was run like a joke by year two, just like LVG.

Probably why he never bought or rented himself a proper place to live and just stayed at the Lowry Hotel. Why bother, when he could see what a total shambles of a club he found himself involved with.

I would actually let Ronaldo go to be fair, i think the spurs game clouded my mind when not adding him to the long list of outs.

Nah. People adored pashun and DNA for three years. Mourinho's directness was too bitter for most.

We’d have been a lot closer had we not behaved disastrously in the transfer market during the last two summers.

This squad has some good players and Ole had fostered some sort of atmosphere at the club. Things were looking up. Sadly, we elected to bring in a vanity purchase (Ronaldo) with no real idea as to how he would fit in, and refused to buy the midfielder or two we clearly needed.

Now we need to invest in those areas and then some. Until the club actually goes out there and ruthlessly deals with problem positions then we’re going to continue to drift. But we said all of this last summer.
