But what if those free ticket holders end up buying a pie and a coke? It is all kind of silly at this point. I think Simon Jordan was bang on when he said that they should be allowed to sell merchandise, tickets and everything else as normal and all the proceeds should just be placed in escrow for the next owners. It is not difficult to do.
That's quite literally what a lot of us have been suggesting since the beginning. Allow the club to operate as normal and just control where the incoming revenue is going.

Hypothetically, could Chelsea give away tickets for free at the gate?

Would obviously then have a full stadium and surely it's better than just having loads of empty seats for the same money. Would season ticket holders complain and demand refunds maybe?

Anyway, i have no idea. It might be a law they can't but I can't see anything to suggest it has been explored?
The club asked to be allowed to give tickets away for free but were told that wasn't allowed.

Thanks. Seems unfair. I won't know about all this as much as invested Chelsea fans will, but if the whole point is Chelsea not making money until Roman isn't involved with the club, then what does giving free tickets away matter..

The Saudi bid seems have to have caused a stir because all of a sudden we're hearing potential separate bidders teaming up to form super consortiums. There was a story today about Nick Candy joining the Boehly group.
Candy boehly story has already been shot down. Rubbished.

Its going to be a 48hrs of bid rumours galore.

No thanks, I'm not interested in Rickett family, they are very political involved. Joe Rickett even said "Muslims are my enemy" which is pretty awful, considering he backed Donald Trump for president.

I have liked the idea of Boehly from the start. I have read from other Chelsea fans that Goldstein is a lifelong Spurs fan. Does having an owner that is a fan of another team really mean anything? It has been reported their bid is 2.5B so it is not the highest.

I think you are allowed to buy refreshments under the current license

Yeah that's the bit that seems a bit needlessly punitive in my opinion.

Cubs fans seem be all over Chelsea online spaces warning us against his Ricketts family. They hate their owners.
The money is actually coming from Ken Griffin in this bid, I think the Ricketts would be in charge of actually managing the club and potentially redeveloping the stadium.

It depends how much $ Ken Griffin could put in, he's worth $25bn odd, would be interested to hear what his motivation is too, that is very important. Football clubs aren't really much of a business in terms of making a profit. To be successful you have to be prepared to lose money pretty much.

No I'm fed up of being tarred by a minority I'll never meet. As I'm sure you would be but luckily for you you don't have to deal with it.
You're the one declaring it to be the minority - if only on the basis of this thread, the support for Roman (especially until very recently) was pretty split, and from what I've seen the chants at the stadium didn't appear to be "quickly drowned out"

from a Liverpool supporter that is a bit rich.. Your supporters are vile..
Always spitting at rival supporters, that is an awful habit.
That's two fans of here that have said that. Spitting is abhorrent and perpetrators should serve minor jail time (Carra). I didn't know it was so bad at Anfield. I thought it was just non singing prawn sandwich brigade nowadays.

Seeing all these Trump-connected American billionaires bidding for us is sickening. Of course Abramovich was shady as hell and we were never going to get a squeaky clean new owner, but all these dudes who have donated to and supported Trump and other right wing politicians vying to buy the club I support sucks.

The Boehly group seems to be the only promising one so far to my eyes. At least he has proven here in America that he knows how important it is to invest in the players and is not solely interested in taking out dividends like the Glazers.

I guess fans who don’t pay for tickets will still pay for concessions, which would make the club money.

Sort of. The money is a test. AND a possible safeguard. Romans more important instructions to Raine were things like judging promises to keep increasing funds to academy, being dedicated to developing Stamford bridge and the area around it, etc. if you are going to balk at an additional 400 mil or so… are you the right group for the task?
There is also the creeping possibility of not allowing Roman to forgive the debt. It starts to get complicated here, but a higher dollar amount at sale could theoretically be said to cover fair market value AND the debt, even if Roman never sees the money either way. All of it should go to Ukraine, but you know how governments are once they get their hands on opm.
You must get taken in every day of the week.

New owner whoever may be have to make Thomas tuchel sign for longer term contract. Man is gold.

Without him chelsea will be back to midtable team trying to fight for top 4 without considerable investment. So keep tuchel, spend less money and keep team competitive.

I really hope a large property developer buys it and turns the site into flats for Ukrainians to live safely and a nice large statute with a middle finger at the front

UEFA have decided. Chelsea will play any remaining CL home games behind closed doors.

Who is this? The bid that’s considered the safest bet?
A member of the family who own the Cubs. By all accounts the Boehly group is considered the safest bet. The Cubs owners teaming up with Ken Griffin was the news that emerged today.

So Ricketts suffers from extreme racism that would make Farage and Tommy Robinson blush. And would love to shoot black people in the streets. Nice guy.

Keep living that pipe dream , Ken Bates did many things not popular with the Chelsea season ticket holders but creating the CPO means someone will never be able to just come and turn it into a block of flats unless the 13000 members agreed to it.

Anyway, Hammersmith and Fulham council wouldn’t give the OK for the change of use to residential.

They have sanctioned your owner. What do Chelsea fans not get? They’re not just economic sanctions, they are political.
We do get it. We just want them to admit it. They are telling people, still, that things like ceasing ticket sales are due to trying to prevent aid going to Russias invasion. That’s obviously not true. It is punitive. The fact they don’t feel like they can say so tells you they know it’s not the right thing to do.

Which was drowned out by the majority vs Newcastle. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good old generalisation.

Guilty by association, as they say.

Still waiting for Chelsea FC to publicly condone the war and attack on Ukraine.

On that basis shall I judge you based on a section of your fans throwing objects at Simeone?
He had it coming. Because of his filthy cheating, Beckham had death threats for over a year whilst playing for us.

Least he deserved was a good old Manchester downpour. ;)

If that eases your conscious of supporting a club, who's owner funds war crimes and is currently hiding in Putins bunker.

As so you're using the war to score points over football supporters.

Got it!
