I look forward to it i enjoyed it even if the london slang can be a little hilarious at times.

The last season had one of the most subtly brilliant twists I've ever seen on tv in the last episode.

It's a lot grittier than Power. Has more of a feel of The Wire, but obviously a UK version and no focus on the police, only the gangs.

You watched the Power spinoffs? I wanted Raising Kanan and I'm currently watching season 2 of Book of Ghost. Really good series. 50 puts his hands to some successful ventures, you've got to give him that.
Haven't watched the spin-offs as I don't have STARZ, I think the first season of book 2 is now on standard Amazon so I may give that a watch.

Will also give Top Boy I chance once I'm finished with Lost in Space.

I actually can't even remember what happened, it's been that long! I'll have to watch a recap or something
Same. Will definitely need to refresh my memory in the next couple of weeks.

This happens every time with me, with every show. Yet I have mates that remember every single thing every time. It's annoying.

Like when you hear people recall what happened in a certain year like 1994 and i sit there thinking i can't remember what i opened the fridge for 5 minutes ago.

Up to episode 6, really good so far. Maybe not quite as good as the old series, it’s all getting a bit more polished but even so, bloody brilliant and riveting tv.

Finished the new season today. Not as good as the previous season imo but still a very great watch. Looking forward to the next one.

Didn't see that ending coming with Sully shooting Jamie. Definitely gone behind Dushane’s back as he obviously felt threatened with Jamie’s presence in the gang. Dushane will not take this news very lightly considering he liked Jamie as he saw a younger version of himself in him.

It was an incredible ending.
Heartbreaking with what he did to his friend. When he could have just disappeared with his friend and brothers.

Modmin edit: spoiler added. Within the rules as the episode has already aired but better to be in spoiler tags.

The story lines were a bit meh, nothing like the previous three seasons, felt they could have wrapped it up in a two hour film. Still worth watching though.

I watched all episodes. I felt it started slowly but became more interesting. They explored some interesting themes in domestic abuse and immigration. I wasn't surprised Sully killed Jamie, I was more suprised it took him that long. Jamie was never going to work out, Dushane couldn't see it but Sully could. He had to go. He was always going to look to feck them over and even tried it a few episodes earlier.

Loved it. More subtle than previous seasons but still lots of tension and built to a great season finale. I hope we don't have to wait 3 years for the next season.

Think the show is terrible l, personally. I mean, for a young-ish black guy from Hackney myself, it’s always been a show that I feel obligated to watch ‘for the culture’ so to speak, loads of the locations in it are around my area, people are familiar etc. But as a TV snob with what I consider a very high quality TV diet, it’s not an objectively good show to me. Littered with terrible acting and dialogue in the main. If I took away the familiar connection and just compared it objectively to a show like say, Peaky Blinders - another British crime/gang drama - it is a billion miles away.

That’s my take anyway.

Not commenting on your perspective especially as you grew up in Hackney and especially as I left the UK in 93, but Peaky Blinders? I find that unwatchablly cheesy.

Top Boy seems very authentic to me after living in a block in Peckham in 80's, not that that is the standard to compare this show to. Tower Hamlets was much worse at the time.

Still entertaining but not a patch on season three. The story was all over the place and there were a lot of pointless subplots. I also still prefer the grittiness of the pre Netflix seasons vs the stylishness of it now.

Jamie :(Sully is a dick

I do love the old ones, but season 3 was a masterpiece for me. Watched it twice in about 3 days when it was first released during lockdown

Peaky Blinders has been shit this season though - far worse than current season of Top Boy which is the weakest of the 4.

The ending of season 4 ruined what was a decent but not brilliant season.
