People say this about every manager we sign just because of the dopamine hit. No one knows if he'll be any good for us, plenty of Eredevisie managers and players looked great at Ajax and then were rubbish elsewhere.
let’s all stay miserable then and talk about how shit we are? That’ll be a laugh? Right?

That’s not remotely true. Ole and Mourinho both were received with quite divided viewpoints.
Moyes and Ole yeah, but Mourinho, LVG and Ragnick was all excitement. I think tbh given the state of our club currently it's hard for any manager to come here and be succesful. We'd probably turn Klopp into Steve Bruce.

It seems like you're basing this more on players than managers from the eredevisie, no?

No it wasn't. 50/50 on Mou at best among United fans. A lot of fans were against him being our manager.

The caf was 60/40 on Mourinho, as per a vote thread when he was being lined up. It was far from all excitement.

Who were the last managers at Ajax that went on to be successful at another big club, or the Eredevisie in general? Genuine question?

There has never been a consensus formed around a candidate like the one that's happening with Ten Hag.

That's mostly because of the football he likes to play which is completely different from all of the previous managers

Makes no difference. Tadic just so happens to be their most creative player who just so happens to be most comfortable on the left. A few years ago he played up front for them and used his creativity from central areas (as he still often does when he comes central). Bruno's most comfortable in a central attacking position and will therefore remain in that position. He will continue trying to create chances as he should. Bruno's had periods of time where he's been fully capable of linking play and bringing others into the game. It's not a coincidence he has been giving the ball away more when the rest of the team are playing terribly and not getting in good positions to receive the ball. His best linkup play has been with Fred when Fred has moved into more advanced areas of the pitch where he is most comfortable. The rest of our players don't offer good passing options. McTominay in particular is terrible at this. This is one area where VDB could help if he can adapt under ETH since he is actually quite good at making himself available to receive the ball.
it does make a difference because when the transition starts and progresses, the two deeper midfielders at times bypass the#10 in the half spaces, whilst the #10 drops deep. That's what they call positional rotation and something Fernandes will have to learn or will find himself battling for a place in the team. So that requires intelligence and discipline on the ball.

And Tadic has mostly been utilised as a false #9, inside left and at times on the right of a 3. And giving the ball away in those positions isn't as detrimental as giving the ball away in a more withdrawn central role that Bruno occupies. And that's because Bruno is heavily involved in the build up/approach play in central areas, and giving the ball away cheaply in that area has the potential to cause the team big problems in defensive transition. And that's due to the team setting up in a compact high block, which will be ten Hag's aim.

Rangnick as a manager was never thought as an exciting choice. The guy had not managed a football club for some years. I am pretty sure people were more interested in him joining as a consultant.

Maybe it's because is the first time we actually take a progressive manager on the rise instead of a washed up one (LVG, Mourinho) or someone totally underqualified (Moyes, Ole).

I've come to terms that the manager alone won't fix this mess, but it's a nice step to get someone promising for a change.

Didn't work out as they imagine:wenger::wenger::wenger:. We don't look like a collective unit as they mentioned, but moreso even more lost than we were under Ole
We will continue to do so even under Ten Hag and the problem will never go away until we sign the right players, quality players who can set the right foundation for the managers job to be easier. Half of our team is pure dross and if it doesn't get adressed properly then next season will be a top 4 chase as well.

He has to be given full power. 100% say on everything - which players to get rid of, dropped, captaincy. And must be backed on transfers and everything else.

We don't look more lost than we did under Ole imo. That was hopelessly bad. We'd be 10th if we kept him.

I dont think the team is pure dross but there's some really bad personalities (e.g. Pogba, Ronaldo, Maguire) and others just don't fear Ragnick because he's an interim. Get rid of the former and put the fear of God into the latter and it should help.

There is though, far too many bang average players who any manager will struggle to get something good out of. The entire pool of centre mids are piss poor, our attack is criminally weak, who do you count on. Martial? Rashford? Or a 37 year old Ronaldo? There is still hope for Sancho though. Fullbacks who are pretty much incapable of contributing to the attack and only one quality CB who most of the time is injured.

We have conceded pretty much the same amount of goals as Burnley. This is shockingly poor. The team is in need of a complete overhaul.

Some players are certainly not up to it, but I think a few will surprise us. Strong leadership, a clear plan and a bit confidence can work wonders for a player.

Didn't we have similar videos when Ralf was appointed?
I am still waiting for him to bring out his 8 sec stopwatch.
What the videos don't take into account is that our team is made up of lazy detestable wankers who have no desire to listen to instructions and put in the work required to turn things around

I'm curious as to who these few might be. Your final statement is true but only if the player is good enough to begin with which more than half our squad has proven they are not.

To be fair, Rangnick has to be given some slack. He was hired to fix an absolute mess and players that are not his and from the first few days we've had reports that the players seemed to dislike the idea of playing for him for all the wrong reasons (that he made them work too hard).

Regardless of who the next manager is, the majority of these bottlers have to be rid. They just don't have the right attitude or mentality for this club.

Frank De Boer comes to mind. Won 4 Eredevisie titles in a row with Ajax and then was shite everywhere else.
He barely had 2 months at Inter, and Palace was the same. He wasn't really given much of a chance at either tbh, won a couple of cups with Atlanta in the MLS, but fell away and was then potted by the Dutch national side after Euro 2020.

most of them have had good seasons in the past or they wouldn't be at United, so is it really that hard for you to imagine?

The club that rewards mediocrity? Only ones I can assume you are thinking of are Rashford and Martial. In this current team apart from Bruno and De Gea there's very few who have had good seasons previously.

Matic never had a good season at Chelsea? Maguire at Leicester? AWB at Palace? Sancho at Bayern? Varane and Ronaldo at Real? Rashford and Martial 2/3 years ago for us. Bruno and Shaw last season? They were both in the PL team of the year!

I'm sure some of them are not gonna make it here, but to claim they've never had good seasons before is nonsense.

If you define those seasons as good then I would worry.
Start worrying then. Almost every player in our starting eleven has had at least one good season in their career.

De Gea has been our POTY a few times.
Bruno and Shaw were in the PL team of the year last year.
Ronaldo and Varane speak for themselves.
Sancho has three good seasons at Dortmund
Maguire was very good at Leicester for a couple of seasons
AWB had a great season at Palace
Fred was great at Shakhtar and had several top clubs chasing him

Who's left? McT and Elanga?

I'm not talking about seasons at other clubs I mean only here. Matic for instance is a pointless example anyway, he's finished. I'm talking strictly how they have performed here over the years. I seriously struggle to see how Ten Hag would bring any good out of Rashford or Martial, the problem with these type of players is not a managerial issue it's their own horseshit attitude that's the problem and my point of the first post.

Players like Varane, Sancho, Donny, Bruno I can definitely imagine will thrive under him but let's not forget Varanes injury problems. You mentioned Shaw, I can't think of any other word to describe his entire time here as mediocre. He had one really good run before he broke his leg.

I mean, this was the quote you quoted

most of them have had good seasons in the past or they wouldn't be at United, so is it really that hard for you to imagine?
So we were talking about different things. Anyway never mind. I agree a lot of them are a busted flush. Matic, Maguire, AWB and plenty of others I can't see making it but hope I'm wrong.

On Shaw, if he made PL team of the year it means there is something there.

We've fostered an environment where players find it hard to succeed, and often regress. Look at Pogba for example. Did well at Juve and for France, but can never quite put it together here. Sanchez came in and turned to shite. Rashford and Martial were great then turned to shite. Lukaku was quite good at first, turned to shite. AWB looked good for a while, turned to shite. Maguire, enough said!

But the talent is there, they all proved it in the past.

If ETH can change that environment to one where players flourish and improve, then some of these players will go back to doing what they do well.

Agreed up until you started with Maguire. Shaw has had 1 good season(good, nothing special) in 8 years. AwB had a breakthrough season but again, nothing special. Fred is just laughable. You wouldn't start arguing about Schneiderlin, Darmian, Depay etc now? They weren't lucky enough to last so long like the current lot even after crap performances.

Are you really arguing that Maguire didn't have a good season at Leicester before United and City were both trying to buy him?

There are some mitigating factors for Rangnick though.
- interim coach with a disinterest bunch who know hell ne gone soon
- us in free fall under Ole and Rangnick not being one to give them a smiling phase but present the harsh truth
- he doesn't have any recent managerial success
- no signings made in Jan, no summer or pre season
