Old Trafford revamp/could be torn down and rebuilt according to Glazer plans

Already we're seeing "nothing in this, they're just saying it to keep us quiet". I've said it time and time again.. Since the Super League protests, we've seen a difference in the Glazers. I'll never forgive them for how they've ran the club, but if they're not going to sell (which they show no sign of doing) then maybe, just maybe, they're starting to listen and realise that they've been shit?

I think now we've hired a company, we will certainly see progress on this, which is great news. It won't be quick though.

Does anyone know when Spurs were at this point, for example, and how long it took to completion from that point?

Agree with this, I see green shoots and a bit of a shift from the powers that be at the club, they are finally listening, the protests keep the pressure on and all of these noises need to be followed through to completion.

For me I think OT should be ripped down and rebuilt, or a new stadium developed along side the old, the old then repurposed as the mini OT they seem to like the idea of.

Just looking at pictures of OT it looks old and dated, it look around 20 years out of date, the structure, design etc is very very 70s looking. Id love to see a new modern stadium for a new modern United, its long long over due.

No one will forget OT, just like no one forgets Highbury its a real shame blinkered fans are so stuck in their ways.

As for the spurs stadium I think it took roughly 3 years from the initial reports of them looking to build a new stadium, they were at Wembley for what, a season?

Spurs stadium was planned in 2008, so nearly ten years for it to actually see fruition.

There's a long long way to go yet.

They started plans in 2007/08 and work began in 2015. They went through numerous proposals during that time and hit issues with planning permission, which you'd imagine we'd also experience. We're probably looking at a very long haul for this but if it's part of a ten year plan then it'll be worth it.

It’s weird to me how no one (journalists but MUST in particular) have queried the club as to how this is going to be funded. Because it seems to me the only options are the club pays for it (thus saddling us with more debt and leaving us absolutely fecked as far as buying players is concerned) or the Glazers paying out of their own pockets (that’s definitively happening). I know Neville mentioned selling the naming rights but there isn’t anyone who’s paying us a billion for the naming rights, those deals are typically for a lot less money than the sums that will be required here.

I am very torn on this issue. I desperately do not want to tear down the ol' girl in favor of a new stadium, however if it is indeed impossible to extend the South stand adequately then I fear this will be the only way to modernize to the standard which the owners and board will be happy with.

The concourses in the majority of the ground do need improving, I wonder whether it is structurally possible to "gut" some of the stands in order to improve the facilities? That being said, the feeling of being in the cramped exposed brick tunnel in the Stretford Paddock is something of a bygone era and lends an extra quality to the game, for me anyway.

Capacity wise, I think expansion purely for revenue and vanity would be a mistake. We could probably fit quite a few more in the ground just by ripping out the seats in the quads and reorganizing them, and with the introduction of safe standing hopefully coming into force, all T1 areas should be able to accommodate even more.

Paying 3 consultancy firms to come up with plans on redevelopment is not the same as promising to do something.
