Could be a flukeHe might be about to change that now, but looking at his trophy count at Liverpool, should he be compared with the great managers, he has been Liverpool coach since Van gaal coached united.

He doesn't win enough if you ask me, no doubt he's got Liverpool playing good stuff but trophies matter a lotCould be a fluke
That's 3 league titles and 1 UCL, think of how long it took mourinho and Pep to do 3 leagues and 1 UCL.Tweet

Took Pep 4 seasons. That's 3 league titles and 1 UCL, think of how long it took mourinho and Pep to do 3 leagues and 1 UCL.
I've said this so many times when people just assume doing well with relatively limited funds = domination with a blank cheque.Sometimes the fight in the dog doesn't make up for the size of the dog in the fight. Twice he's had to go up against another of the best managers of all time with a vastly inferior budget. I have no idea how he'd do if he had clearly the best team as he seems to love being the underdog.
Would be interesting to see him at PSG, Juve, Real or Barca. If he wants to go this week it'd be even more interesting (please go Jurgen)
The current Liverpool team aren't underdogs to no club, and they haven't been for a while.Klopp has always been the underdog. Its unfair to judge him on trophies given his circumstances. Its like saying Sir Alex failed in Europe because he couldn't best Pep's Barca.

Yeah I agree, was the same all those years in Dortmund, bottleguru deluxe. To his 'defense', he is always in it for the long haul. Here's hoping Chel$ea ruins it for him in the FA cup.He doesn't win enough if you ask me, no doubt he's got Liverpool playing good stuff but trophies matter a lot
100%, its a different job. History has shown time and again its not easy to keep the top dogs at the top. Sir Alex aside.I've said this so many times when people just assume doing well with relatively limited funds = domination with a blank cheque.
Maybe he will but if there's question marks over Pep with relatively limited funds then the same has to apply with Klopp managing outright favourites.
Yes because it’s much harder to utilise a bigger more talented squad?I've said this so many times when people just assume doing well with relatively limited funds = domination with a blank cheque.

No it's not because that was a 3 year spell. This is Klopp's entire career. Its like saying Sir Alex failed in Europe because he couldn't best Pep's Barca.
Thats not true, they are underdogs to City pretty much every season but the one after they won the title. They are a match now but its only now they've started winning trophies. The current Liverpool team aren't underdogs to no club, and they haven't been for a while.
Not really Liverpool aren’t underdogs now. Most top managers will do well with more money its not a great argument100%, its a different job. History has shown time and again its not easy to keep the top dogs at the top. Sir Alex aside.
Yeah but he's the same level of underdog. That's what my point is, imagine being up against Pep with a dominant team and bigger resources for most your career. We have to judge Klopp on that.No it's not because that was a 3 year spell. This is Klopp's entire career.
What makes you think he could? I see this spouted time and again. Why would Klopp win at City and Pep fail at Liverpool. No, he's the best manager in the league unfortunately. Guardiola couldn't do at Liverpool what he's done at City, klopp could win league and CL with City. The fact that he's pushed city's corruption riddled sportswash franchise to the level they are is a credit to him. Without him the league would be a joke most of the time
You know you’ve reached a parallel reality when it’s a city fan defending a Liverpool manager on a United forum.Yeah but he's the same level of underdog. That's what my point is, imagine being up against Pep with a dominant team and bigger resources for most your career. We have to judge Klopp on that.
I don't think its a failure to come 2nd in the league to the 2nd most expensive squad in football history consistently who were the most expensive till a few months ago, especially when they have one of the best managers to boot.
Bottleguru because he didnt win with Dortmund? Nobody wins with Dortmund and he got very close. Losing a CL final to Madrid is not exactly bottling it either. He is a fantastic manager even if he hasnt won as much as managers at better teams with more money and less competition.Yeah I agree, was the same all those years in Dortmund, bottleguru deluxe. To his 'defense', he is always in it for the long haul. Here's hoping Chel$ea ruins it for him in the FA cup.
The same "they'll rule the world when they have a bigger budget" argument was used when Pochettino had Spurs (who's budget makes the one Klopp has look like PSG) challenging for the league.Yes because it’s much harder to utilise a bigger more talented squad?
The argument I’m sorry is nonsense, the first time he has a bigger squad he’s on course to win 3 or 4 trophies.
Because he is a great coach, so tactically will drill players in the same fashion just like Pep has. More money just means he can have more leeway to have failed signings like Grealish and also get all his first choice targets. What makes you think he could? I see this spouted time and again. Why would Klopp win at City and Pep fail at Liverpool.
I just call things as I see them. You know you’ve reached a parallel reality when it’s a city fan defending a Liverpool manager on a United forum.
Armchair logic. What makes you think he could? I see this spouted time and again. Why would Klopp win at City and Pep fail at Liverpool.
Thing is Mourinho won the UCL at Porto and pep didn't spend billions to win it at BarcelonaBottleguru because he didnt win with Dortmund? Nobody wins with Dortmund and he got very close. Losing a CL final to Madrid is not exactly bottling it either. He is a fantastic manager even if he hasnt won as much as managers at better teams with more money and less competition.
Klopp and Poch are not the same managers and on two different levels, Poch has won nothing, Klopp has already shown he can be successful under Dortmund. The same "they'll rule the world when they have a bigger budget" argument was used when Pochettino had Spurs (who's budget makes the one Klopp has look like PSG) challenging for the league.
Theres more to it than just tactics. How do we know he copes with being the favorite? in fact one of his biggest issues at Liverpool have been faltering when favorites and I rate the guy as one of the best of all time.Because he is a great coach, so tactically will drill players in the same fashion just like Pep has. More money just means he can have more leeway to have failed signings like Grealish and also get all his first choice targets.
He is a sucker for lost causes, probably would have won more had he picked bigger clubs sooner. Also want to note it was no way detracting from his skillset but he has some noteworthy runner-up medals.Bottleguru because he didnt win with Dortmund? Nobody wins with Dortmund and he got very close. Losing a CL final to Madrid is not exactly bottling it either. He is a fantastic manager even if he hasnt won as much as managers at better teams with more money and less competition.
It’s not about coping with being a favourite it’s simply about having better players technically mentally and tactically. This Liverpool have no problems being favourite because they simply have better players than they did for example when they faced Sevilla, that’s all, the failing to put up a challenge also is down to losing all 3 starting cbs for the majority of the season which has this season shows its a total outlier.Theres more to it than just tactics. How do we know he copes with being the favorite? in fact one of his biggest issues at Liverpool have been faltering when favorites and I rate the guy as one of the best of all time.
Losing to Sevilla, failing to even put up a challenge after winning the title and all his biggest wins have been while being the underdog.
I never said he'll fail per se, it's the idea that's it's all linear (ala he'll utterly dominate with a blank cheque because of what he's done on relatively limited funds) is what I'm arguing.Klopp and Poch are not the same managers and on two different levels, Poch has won nothing, Klopp has already shown he can be successful under Dortmund.
If you think Klopp would fail to win leagues in France and Germany with Bayern and PSG then you underrate him. Klopp and Pep are the two best managers around with Tuchel not too far behind, all three would do well with a great budget but only one or maybe two have shown they can do well with a lesser one and what it entails.
