The best move financially no doubt, but it came with the risk of not playing much for 12 months. There can be no sympathy for him just because the worst case scenario has played out, it's not like that scenario was even particularly unlikely. He chose money, the club decided no offer was worth accepting over additional squad depth.He probably wanted to leave and play but not to the extent of handing in a transfer request. That would not have been a wise move for him.
He thought his successful loan could earn him some playing time or he could get another loan.
He won't get a better salary elsewhere. So why forfeit the money for the last season, the sign on bonus and limit your options for the next destination.
Really the best outcome for Jesse was to see out his contract.
The narrative in here is that it's all Ole's fault, where the blame for him still being here is on Jesse for gambling with playing time for money, and Jesse for not being good enough over the last few years to convince interested clubs in making an acceptable bid.
