It’s the players, not the manager

Unless there are significant changes to this squad this summer, the most we can expect next season is to qualify for the Europa League. However, it won't be surprising if we finish 8th.
Id take 8-6th with a real clear out. Slash the wage bill to nothing and start again by acquiring the best young players money can buy and players flagged up through data based scouting. Anything is better than this shit

It is so clearly the manager. The fact is though Ten Hag is walking into the easiest in football. Ragnick has honestly been the worst manager I've ever seen and still you have people making excuses for him, Ten Hag just needs to turn up ffs.

It's pretty clear the players aren't up to it, but that doesn't mean the manager is either.

Hoping for a big clear out.

Players are absolutely to blame. However Rangnick has got nothing out of these players. Worse than Ole. The fact he is being entrusted to move the club forward worries me. The only thing he’s done well is press conferences.

End of the day you would expect a bit of backbone no matter how bad things were. Manager the wrong man to manage the team but if it gives him a proper insight to help going forward then it is worth it imo Can understand why people would disagree too of course. Sad to see these types of performances, as if being absolutely hammered by Brighton is no big deal

Rangnick has been a massive disappointment i agree with that but come on, the players have downed tools on both Ole and Rangnick this season.

The combination of this manager with these players hasn't been great

You don’t think the gap between our midfield and defence being the size of the Atlantic isn’t a coaching issue? Fair enough I guess.
Rangnick has already stated that the players dont follow his instructions.

Before you say he should bench them think of the alternatives already on the bench ie maguire, lingard, jones, bissaka. The only reason grandpa matic and grandpa mata are playing because he's already benched the others who had downtooled.

Throwing in youngsters in this swamp and ruining there carriers isn't the right thing to do and he has rightly not done that.

Going to be fascinating seeing how someone like Ten Hag can motivate and coach much of this group. There's some who can't believe we've amassed such a high amount of misfits and I agree it doesn't seem logical but I think quite a few really need to be gone sooner than later.
This squad needs to be gutted inside out, ten hag would only be getting himself sacked wasting time on this lot who've already downtooled and gotten jose, ole and rangnick sacked.

I will remind you next season when we get tanked 4 nil by fulham or someone else. The shittiest manager with good players will more often than not finish ahead of the greatest manager with shit downtooling players.

Yes and I'm not absolving them of all the blame. We will of course need to move on some deadweight and bring in some reinforcements if only to add some positivity. But this narrative that the whole squad is crap is total shite aimed only at absolving Rangnick of any blame!

Ignoring the manager (who has been beyond terrible) that XI we had out today is bottom half standard. Telles, Dalot, Lindelof, McTominay, Elanga, Mata, Matic would rarely start for top 10 sides. Not on attitude, just ability.

If most of these players were playing under Klopp or another good manager they'd look a lot better than this.

It's the players and the manager. It's not just the players and I'm sick of Ralf getting a free pass.

I see you're already changing your tune. Tell me clearly do you think these same set of players under ten hag will be challenging for trophies ?

Turd cannot be polished as far as im concerned.

No one's giving rangnick a free pass. Players are more to blame than rangnick, being shit can be excused, not putting in a shift cannot.

After what I’ve seen this year it’s not far wrong, Lindelof, Maguire, Dalot, Telles, AWB, Shaw, McT, Matic, Rashford, Bruno, Cavani, Elanga, Sancho have all been poor this year. Total collective downing of tools and no pride what so ever.

When Liverpool were losing 2-0 to Villarreal, I knew Klopp would turn it around at half time.

At 1-0 down to Brighton today, I knew Rangnick would do nothing at half time. It’s not all on him by any means but he’s been useless in this position.

Rangnick has done a poor job but these players are something else. We just need to get this season done and get them out the club as quickly as possible.

Yeah I still think this. Seriously, what can a manager do with players making the most routine mistakes consistently? Every game not tracking a runner. Not pushing up for offside? Losing the ball in front of your own goal etc.

We just make more and more mistakes. How does a manager "coach" that?

Thats a thing, there is no universe where they would play under Klopp, we have a thread about players getting asthma under Klopp, these jokers couldnt deal with extra evening training without whining about it.

It is complete lack of coaching last 3 years.
It's not the coaching, primarily.

It's their mentality. It's blatantly obvious when you watch a successful team and the players are willing to die for each other.

If they weren't such weak cowards, they'd have been more receptive to the coaching anyway.

Klopp shifted all most of his players at the start, and he'd do the same here.

I do not understand why so many players that are leaving are even on the bench. The last 5 games were an opportunity to see what the youth could have brought us. Cavani, Mata & Lingard had the last home game.

Nope and I haven’t said as much. We still need significant work to challenge city and Liverpool. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be 10x better than what we have seen for the last 6 months. Many of these players can be better than what we have seen in the last 6 months. I don’t think most people need us to win trophies next season and that’s fine by me as long as we see tangible progress. I just want to be entertained ffs.

Ole must be some kind of miracle worker because he finished 2nd with these non pl standard players.
Ole was indeed a miracle worker and the luckiest manager ever. Chelsea imploding under lampard, arsenal rebuilding under arteta, dippers going through an injury crises, leicester bottling it and to top it off covid which was advantage us in away games because of no crowds.

But even luck can only take you so far, these players dont have the mentality and strength of character of a winner, thats why they bottled multiple semi finals and then the final against villareal. We also dropped the ball against the the dippers allowing them to qualify for the champions league when they were getting tonked by anyone fancying them.

Luck this luck that. You don’t luck a season. Ole did well for his 2 year spell, it just collapsed this season. No reason to overthink it.

And who do you think is a fault when a whole club collapses and can’t get the players playing well? It’s obviously on the manager. What do you think pep and Klopp do?
