I hope so, but then he needs to sign 3-5 quality players. There is no preseason or tactical gameplan that will make AWB, Telles, Dalot, McFred and a few other players play cohesive football.
If he gets 3 quality players we will barley even be a top 4 team.

6 needed minimum if we want to be safe.

I am looking forward to ETH changing the way we play. I don't see many Ajax games but when I watch, I see a team retaining possession with very smart players understanding spacing and movement. I believe in 3 years time, our style of play might be similar to City. I hope he does get a few Ajax and ex-Ajax players that he coached so he has 4-5 who already understands how he wants to play. I cannot imagine that he has to coach XI players to understand his philosophy from day 1. I hope the board back him to get Frankie, De Light, Anthony, Timber, Gravenberch and Blind. Yes, Blind is still a very good serviceable player. With these players, I am sure that we can compete with the very best.

Wtf is this? A manager that is actually proactive and itching to get to work instead of going on holidays? Why, we must have entered some kind of alternate reality.

He will go on holiday a bit later, probably in a few weeks. He said it's been a tough season, he needs to recharge. But first he's working on Man Utd stuff starting tomorrow. He's skipping an Ajax end of season trip this week to focus on his new job immediately.

Easily the most excited and confident I've been in a post Fergie manager.

I mean in an ideal scenario maybe 1-2 of those players are starting for us in a game with our full squad assuming we make at least 3 signings. Fred is also more than capable of playing decent football as well.

I disagree with this. This squad has been undertrained, mismanaged, and allowed to basically do what the feck they want on and off the pitch for the past 3 managers including Ralf. That will stop under ETH. If we make 2-3 solid additionls to the squad with proper training and discipline, I don't think top 4 will be an issue at all. Midfield and defense will bey the key areas to address this window. If we get that right, we'll be alright.

Well straight off the bat we need two new starting Midfielders to do anything at all.

Have you seen Elanga’s attempts to defend? They’re significantly worse than his attempts to attack, and they often flatter to deceive.

It could possibly work as a wing back of a 3 like Victor Moses, but that’s about it
I wouldn’t be all that surprised to see us go to a back 5 to build confidence and momentum in defence. 5-2-2-1 or something narrow, depending on signing

He’s not going to go on holidays with Ajax because he’s with Utd now. Im sure he’ll go on his own holiday while our players are gone away too. He’ll also be working on holidays doing video calls with signings and our players and coaches getting everything ready. This lad sounds and carries himself like a winner. I really fancy him to hit the ground running. It’s how he handles the players when results get shaky and the owners won’t get him players or sell who he wants to sell that I’m more interested in. Hopefully he can rule with an iron fist!!

In case you were responding to the tweet that @No Idea For Nickname posted: that's not the official Ajax account, it's just some dude.
*some classy dude.

Anyway, nice quotes from EtH. He seems very serious and determined about the job, and seems to know exactly what he wants to do. Can't wait to see how the team looks next season, both in terms of personnel and style of play.

There's the Nation League group games at the start of June, he might go away then. The players will be off on holiday and others away with the international teams.

Could he take a holiday during the world cup? It might have factored into his planning and might be a more suitable time
Nah, he's going in the next weeks. That quote is out of context, poorly translated, it's referring to him skipping the trip that Ajax is taking this week to Curacao.

Im convinced around 50% of the tricky work is done in the summer by convincing the right players to come in for the right money and getting rid of people who’ve stagnated for too long. Organising the best staff etc and fixing mistakes. Then it’s all coaching and man management from there on out until the next window. That’s why I found it so strange what Moyes did or how Ed goes on holidays in the middle of the window etc. it’s cocky/stupid.

It is, but depends how much access you have to players if with their international teams. I agree that Moyes and Woodward made a massive mistake that summer. Think Woodward had convinced Moyes that being Manchester United we just had to click our fingers and players would join us.

I agree that a decent core is there and that we don’t need a rebuild, but I think it’s going to take us four new players, not three, to get us into top four contention. Possibly five is Erik wants a new RB, although I think he’ll settle for Dalot for now.

Monitoring the preparation of the Vidal bid
I am so incredibly excited about Ten Hag. He's got that 'weirdo' vibe that all the best modern managers need. He seems keen to get cracking right away, without a break. All great things.

Let's just hope the board don't make a mess of the transfer negotiations (in and out)...
