What I think if only to a small degree, has perhaps helped him to male this decision publicly, is that there are a fair few gay sports reporters, and women covering thd game now as well.

I certainly don't think there should be any pressure on anyone but I would hope that what he says about older players potentially seeing a kid be brave enough and following his lead comes true and we actually have quite a few openly gay professional footballers in this country and others very soon.

There were also reports last week that a player was dropped for farting too much but the player denied it (so he must have supplied it)
Good luck to him. He said in the interview he scored 4 in the next game after telling his mum and sister, can imagine that would be a massive weight of his shoulders and now telling the world would be even more so.

He was their youth team player of the season so has a good chance of playing in the football league at least.

Generally through footballing circles. Players gossip and word gets around quickly. Degrees of separation in football is pretty low. There are a few players in the football league where it's a big open secret and everyone knows, but there's a big difference between that and being 'officially' out.

Remember footballers wives on ITV had a story arc with a gay pro and that was probably 20 years ago.

I think it's a lot easier for Gen-z and below to confront and take comfort in their sexuality and who they are, him being 17 and being able to do it must feel different to say, a 37 year old Ronaldo potentially doing it (yeah I know he isn't).

Did this happen to any of you FM players? One of my top youth players came out at around the same age in one of my lower league saves. Then Liverpool signed him for peanuts because of a release clause.

Turns out he's just another religious hypocrite then so.
It's one thing to voice an opinion, it's another to cowardly miss a game every year to avoid wearing a shirt with pride colors without saying anything to the press or on social media. And it has to be noted that all the other Muslim players are not dumb enough to confuse acting against homophobia and promoting homosexuality.

He didn't seem to have an issue advertising gambling when he was an Everton player.
If he's fine with gambling but not gay people then that's his choice but he can't use his religion as an excuse because he obviously doesn't actually give that much of a shit.

Gambling and alcohol is legal in Senegal whereas LGBT isn't. He's a national team player.

What does "punished" mean? If he doesn't want to wear company clothing, the company can take issue with that. In any other line of work he'd be out of job.
