I really really like him... wish him all the best.

Fans need to support him, irrespective of the shit that will be thrown his way by the press - IGNORE THEM! Don't engage. If we feed the toxicity it will just make things harder for him and us.

On another note, I suspect his Dutch colleagues are worried for him

So how come United hasn't got him doing the usual new manager PR stuff? I guess he was all business today :D

When will we see him posing and playing the piano? This wanting to go straight to work seems like nonsense.

I love him already. I love that as soon as he won the title for Ajax, he ripped up his contract and got on a plane. Could have coasted the last 6 weeks, made some phone calls from his office and spent the rest of his day playing Wordle, but no. Next challenge please.

He even said he allows his players 24 hours to enjoy things, but this magnificent bastard was already darting past the duty frees!

He's not got to Manchester yet, and maybe out of respect to Rangnick as well, I imagine he will do it all next week after the Palace game

Which shows what his priorities are.
Indeed. Am loving how hardworking he comes across. Also seems to be quite meticulous. I think some of our less industrious players are going to have a problem.....

He will not tolerate slackers. Some on here might have to watch it as well.

It's exactly the kind of mentality we need from our manager. Players been getting away with too much nonsense now. We need to support him so the players don't have any power with their PR shenanigans. If they know we are backing the manager, then they will have to get their heads down and work or leave. We the fans should not give them anymore leeway imho.

That’s exactly what I said in my original post, that there could be a myriad of reasons for him coming early on - Laying the groundwork before leaving for vacation, or simply because he genuinely feels like he wants to get started. The point being that him choosing to terminate his contract and joining early on shows his commitment and that increases his likelihood of success. Not that it will.

No clue why this guy takes offence to that and is arguing something about PoVs and comprehension skills.
This isn’t aimed at that particular poster, but there are a lot of people on here who have a great disdain for hard work.

I can’t believe i’ve sat here today checking this thread, eating up all of these pointless updates on whether he’s flying in to Manchester or working from home this week. Shows how absolutely starved we all our for the return of proper football to Old Trafford.

I think players like that, generally players don't like passive-aggressive and unclear coaches. It's a lot easier for a player to understand and accept decisions when they are clearly stated.

No elite teams was/are raiding Everton for their talent while elite teams are raiding Ajax for their talent every season. De Jong, De Ligt, VDB, Ziyech, Gravenberch, etc. There's a huge gulf in terms of talent between these 2 teams.

Are you saying that if Ten Hag had come 2 years ago and you'll turn down the chance to sign the likes of De Jong or De Ligt if he wants to bring them with him?
Not really. But at the same time now they are at big clubs they will cost more.

de Jong hasn’t had a great time at Barca, and Barca is a club where you’d expect him to fit into the system more.

De Ligt has struggled at Juventus.

I know both are young and can still have great careers. But I’m at the stage where I look at players like Dias at Liverpool, what a signing his been. Imagine if our “scouts” at the time RR recommended him took the plunge, instead of telling the board that he wouldn’t improve us.

I really think De Jong 1) is too expensive for the rebuild we need 2) his the wrong type of CM at this moment. His like a Pogba but very different style and position in CM… if you put him into a team that’s struggling he’ll struggle too, if you put him into a team that’s used to controlling and dominating then he’ll elevate you to that extra level.

So ideally, this summer we sign a more athletic CDM, who can also play box to box. Then a CDM like de Jong comes in a year or two once team is used to the style of play and has mastered it.
