They've just won 2 cups on pens without even scoring you dunderhead. How isn't that fortunate :D

Probably wyhat you'd expect from an Arsenal fan still singing about the "Invincibles" who lost in 3 cups that year.

I think I'd prefer to win a double having lost a few league games than a single league having not, wouldn't you?
On your first point, fair point, I didn't watch either final

Honestly I haven't mentioned the Invinsibles and I do find it a slightly overrated achievement. But like yourselves melting down over Liverpool possibly doing the quadrupple, Arsenal fans melt down over City or Liverpool going invinsible and always wipe their brow when it doesn't happen.

Arsenal have won doubles under Wenger but I do prefer the Invinsible season over any double season. It was a great season and I'd take it over league and cup because we were more dominant and the football was better too. I'd swap for a League and CL though, which we really should of done that season.

I was thinking the same. Unless you have an anomaly like Sir Alex, cycles like this don’t come around often and when they do you need to cash in and rack the trophies up. A bit like us and coming up against Peps’ Barca.
2 Euros and a league will still be big, but if they lose that final, they won't half have a huge regret.
Only 1 league in 5 years since he really got the magic working is really poor. Not their fault of course, against a financial doping outfit

I think it's a much harder achievements if they manage 2 domestic cups, CL title and 92 points in the league against an oil doped City compared to your 79 points in the league and 2 quite fortunate cup wins in '99.

That aside in 1984 they won the League, European Cup/CL and League Cup

And I think it was 2001 they won UEFA, FA Cup and League Cup.

If they do it this season that's 3 trebles and how many doubles. They probably have the most double seasons of various cups/leagues in English football history.
You've just took on massive dump on the Arsenal double team of 98 ffs. We had to finish ahead of them in 99 and that Arsenal team was one hell of a team.

mate you’re an Arsenal fan. You’re not qualified enough to talk to me about winning trophies.
Love it when fans make these kind of statements taking themselves so seriously. One would think this lad was on the pitch winning trophies playing for United.

Laughable arrogance. The lack of self awareness!

So so happy………now just need Madrid to do them in the CL and it will be soooooopppperrrrr sweet - all those ex scouse pundits fawning over this team and the reality is Klopp has only won the league once……Pep will keep them at arms length until we are good again and then both Pep and Klopp will be gone and this cycle will be over…..

PS - would have loved to have been in the crowd when they saw city was 2-0 down and then after that 5 min spell when they got 3 goals - it would have been priceless

Not losing a game all season in the league is nice and that, but essentially no better than just a league title.
Racking up multiple titles is the big one.

You're lucky your rival is a perennial underachiever. Imagine if Tottenham had been picked up by Abramhovic as was first rumoured. Or if the City gang picked them up.
Even now they've nicked champions league off you.

It's our third 90+ points finish in 5 seasons. And he got us to the absolute brink of a quadruple, the likes of which Kompany still masturbates over.

I'm glad this failed fraud of a manager has signed for another two seasons, until 2026. Liverpool fans are happy. Utd fans are happy.

Football is about winning.
To go on a United forum as an Arsenal fan and start throwing your mouth around is bizarre, and it was rightly met with a firm response.

You know Mings is one of the biggest Liverpool fans going right?
Oh well, that settles it. Not like
. I'd swap for a League and CL though, which we really should of done that season.
The 03/04 season? Didn't you lose 2 and draw 1 of your first 3 games?

I think at that point you're already questioning the credentials of them going all the way in the CL.

Typical salty Arsenal tears. Love it!
Cheers again for your part in our historical Treble season. Wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!
Having sat amongst some of their rabid fans for the United game, their failure to get champions league honestly warms my cockles

It’s true though isn’t it? hence why you’ve took the knock.

Arsenal are the perennial runners up in everything. Even today to Spurs. Then you have said clubs fans trying to play down the 99 treble when it’s never been done before or since.

Much more impressive winning two cup finals on penalties and running City close.

It's objective reality that 92 points in the oil club and PL mega money is harder to achieve than 79 points in a weaker era. If you were objective you could admit a 79 point league team in a weaker PL era wasn't that amazing.

I dont get the points talk, it's total daft.

Wee won the champs league that season too, are you telling me that was shite too that season?

If the treble was so easy it be getting hit every season. Yous couldn't even win one champs league either, nor can the mighty city who hit 90+ points every season. I'm not sure what your point is buts it's shite

That's cool. Ofcourse there's this banter/argument amingst fans of different clubs.

But saying "You’re not qualified enough to talk to ME about winning trophies" is a bit too weird, don't you think ? It almost makes it sound like he's Roy Keane.

They can have 10 more 90+ seasons for all I care. It’s the trophy which counts. You win the same trophy regardless of winning the league with 100 points, with an 18 points gap or on goal difference.
Well there's some nuance with that isn't there? Most football fans have better and worse league winners and better and worse runners up. The dominance both City and Liverpool have proven over this league is unprecidented. As an Arsenal fan it doesn't bring me any joy to admit it but it's the objective fact of the matter.

You can bare the same standard in La Liga, where if you're runner up to Messi Barce or Galaticos you're probably better than most winners of La Liga

 Well they certainly beat the Invincibles as 3 trophies beat that team's one but it's nowhere near as good as our treble and how we achieved it:

United beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal on route to the FA cup win
United were unbeaten in the entire Champions league campaign against the likes Barca, Bayern, Juve, Inter
United beat Arsenal's double winners to the league, a side Neville, Scholes and Giggs called the best side they ever faced domestically

Easily the greatest achievement by an English team

It’s such a bizarre assessment given the Champions League was far harder then too (again Arsenal fans know little about this I know).

The schedule United played that season in the run in, and the teams they played, was crazy too.

On paper, they are fecked. They have just lost the PL (again by just 1 point) and Madrid is angry because of the MBappe fiasco.

Well said.

Liverpool drew the seventh and eight best teams among the last eight in quarter finals and semi finals. Talk about luck, you have it there. Even the year they won the UCL they had some very easy games at the latter stages of the competition. Nothing compared to ours.

Totally.
It's come in these last few seasons and has never been any sort of thing until then.

Surely a high points total simply means a lot of sh!te teams you drill past.
Whereas a lower total means a more competitive league, and thus a better achievement winning?

That is pretty ridiculous. Guess you kind of know how we felt having to face that Barca side in 09 and 11 (three finals in four years, one trophy)

Have you ever won the treble? have you feck.

mate you’re an Arsenal fan. You’re not qualified enough to talk to me about winning trophies.

Liverpool have won two trophies by not scoring a single goal this season yet you mention United being fortunate in 99
Well with trophies mate we've won more FA Cups than you and without checking I think we've won more since Fergie left you. Liverpool have won far more CLs out of English clubs, You've won the most League titles though, at least until City surpass you though and then you won't be the top of any trophy stack will you?

I never claimed we've won the trebble. But yes yours was very flukey with the penalty miss, Vieira assists and boot it and hope corners as your crowning moment.

I have no idea either, yet.
Liverpool are a top cup side. Like Blackburn, Leeds and Leicester, they have one one league title in 30 years. Our treble was the peak of a consistent domestic dominance. Every footballer acknowledges winning your league is the pinnacle. The Champions League was a bigger hill to climb for English clubs then too; for a few reasons.

I was very happy with both trophies in 98 but they clearly weren't the same level for various reasons. Henry and Pires but 2 of them.

In the first game we had a goal disallowed for off side. It was a valid goal. VAR would have seen it stood. So any luck in the replay has to be seen in the context of the bad luck in the first match.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/sport/football/fa_cup/316754.stm

Inevitably, there was controversy, when Keane appeared to have given United the lead, after Giggs had put in a brilliant cross to cause confusion in the Arsenal penalty area.

But referee Elleray ruled the goal out for offside, although television replays seemed to suggest that United had been harshly treated.

You don't like it because you don't like that it shows a more dominant team is performing better than lower points team that you support. It's also giving your rival objective credit, where it is due given their performances in the last few seasons.
