The era we live in now these shootings will just be on the rise every single year especially in the US where they seem hellbent on making no changes at all. I mean it's happening so often now you start to think they don't care one bit. Easy to say they condemn it and send their thoughts to the parents but those are just empty words.

Imagine being a parent now to a kid at that school, the place you send your kids to every single morning so they can get educated and have fun and now you have to call around asking if your kid is even alive. The world is such a fecked up place.
Harsh to blame it on the world, it’s basically all our problem.

The kids killed in Sandy Hook wouldn't even be 18 yet had they lived. The lack of impact that event seemed to have on the issue makes it difficult to imagine any subsequent shooting having the required impact.

My brother moved to America ten years ago and now has three young kids. I know the chances are very slim anything like this would happen to my nieces and nephew. But they'd be a lot slimmer if he moved back here.
I travelled a fair bit in my younger days and I've always thought that in some ways, such as attitude towards guns, despite our shared history, America felt like one of the most foreign countries I ever visited.

I’ve taught in every Key Stage from Foundation to Key Stage 5. I had a composite class a few years ago which consisted of pupils from the same age group as the children killed in this incident. To this day, I have the fondest memories of them. Their personalities were beginning to shine through, they were eager to learn and they were so curious about the world. It’s such a beautiful stage of life. This incident is absolutely despicable and deeply disturbing.

The GOP responses will be one or more of the following:

* Blame it on mental illness
* Call for all teachers to be armed
* Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
* Blame it on immigrants from Mexico
* Blame it on lefty progressives for emasculating men and driving them to rage.

Kids keep dying because they wanna sell AR-16's and machine guns into the hand of any psycho and it seems you can get them as easy as a Kit-Kat over there. When it's become something normal for kids to go to school thinking about wether they make it home alive or not everyone would make drastic changes, well except America of course.

Kellyanne Conway already criticizing the left for politicizing this.

I didn’t have her on my bingo card.

If you don't feel shock at this then I don't know what to say
I am angry, I am sad, I am going through a lot of emotions, but shock is not one of them. Shock suggests being surprised or caught unaware. Anyone with even a shred of awareness knew this would happen and that it will happen again and again.

There’s an NRA gathering (perhaps the national event) in Houston this weekend. Abbott is slated to speak. No doubt he does.

Agree. There’s absolutely no shock.

If we go through the next 30 days without a mass shooting, then I will be shocked.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
Just awful... I think that if I were American, I might just start planning to move somewhere else. Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, wherever. Even though there are 300 million people in the country, and the odds of it happening to any individual are slim, it must surely affect your mental health.

He will praise the patriots of NRA for their contributions in making America great and people sleep safely in their houses. He will promise to do everything in his power to help all Texans and Americans to lay hands on the gun.

I’m going to see Top Gun 2 on Thursday & got tickets close to the exit on purpose.

I’m so disgusted with this place… and it is honestly getting harder and harder for me to justify remaining a teacher. I think I could join the military and have a lower chance of getting shot at.

Even beyond the dead, how the feck can any of these kids be expected to lead normal lives? The amount of trauma being created all so a bunch of fecking yahoos can make themselves feel better about the size of their dicks by paying corrupt politicians is mind-boggling.

We’re In Scotland right now and this trip, and the current news, has reignited our interest in getting out of the US. We’re moving in a month to NC to get closer to family, but that may not be far enough East.

Stay safe mate - and if you have any questions about relocating as an American just drop a DM (with the caveat that my experience might not apply as my wife is an EU citizen).

You Americans are so fecked, so many innocents killed and you'll still do nothing. Greg Abbott is gonna be speaking at an NRA event in a couple of days so he won't do anything either.
So so fecked. Like an ants death spiral.

Kids die in unfair circumstances across the world every day I am sure but not in supposed 1st world countries and not by being murdered whilst at school.
People are talking about a Russian brain drain at the moment but if you have the means to do so then anyone with children who lives in the US - is it really worth the risk…… ?

This is so sad. RIP. To lose a child for something so avoidable…don’t know how you could ever overcome that.

America is a broken country. It’s people aren’t safe.

My daughter just became a teacher. She has the little ones and she's the kind of person who will try her best to protect her babies. I'm sick to my stomach thinking about this. How can you look at a child and decide to shoot?
