I remember two years ago people said the same thing about Donnie.
Frenkie needs the right parts around him to make it work. Him alone without them will be another Donnie
Yeah, no one was saying that about Donnie. My recollection of the reaction to that signing was one of indifference.

Anyone know why Barca/Xavi don't want De Jong to replace Busquets as the holding midfielder?

I get that they might want Pedri and Kessie to play as number 8's over De Jong, but it's strange that they don't want him to play deeper when it was the position he did well in at Ajax.
What @Dr. Dwayne + his successes at Ajax were more in a midfield 2 with a partner rather than the lone no.6 in a midfield 3.

You mention Kessie and Pedri, but you also forget Gavi, who is basically their La Masia golden child who has yet to renew his contract. They want to prioritise him, so letting the good player who is expendable go to put faith in Pedri and Gavi makes more sense for them. Even more so when he is their one major financial export this summer at a time where they massively need money

Reports I've seen, says FDJ still wants to stay and has no preference about other clubs.

So again, we are pursuing a player that has no genuine interest of playing for us, but may sign if he has no other choice.

Wonderful.
That's the spirit

Really hurt Bayern Munich when they signed Robben from Real Madrid.

Funny that with Di Maria. It is basically same situation but hey, this is shiny new toy so lets laugh to people who mention Di Maria example.
The Di Maria comparison is silly. De Jong is coming to United to play for his ex manager that he has a lot of admiration for and the manager that knows how to get the best out of him. Di Maria was playing for a manager that didn't have a clue on how to use him.

Your reports are more than two days old, unfortunately.

Yeh they quite simply have a surplus of talent now in midfield and had to make a call.

Let's hope if he does sign that we buy him that midfield partner he needs to play in a two if Bruno is to play as number 10.

I doubt he's dying to move to United and play with Fred or McTominay.

Nope, it only takes a few moments to see various reports on this subject.

Why are there so many gullible people on here?

United claim a new bigging, doing things different, so first things they do is puruse a player who's heart isn't set on playing for us.

Sir Alex, signed and pursued players who wanted to play for us, that showed on the pitch, the players were desperate and hungry to win.

All we do is force players to sign by offering stupid wages and they just go through the motions.

I'd rather we pursue hungry players who want to play for us and give them a year or two to establish themselves.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but history is on my side.

Not sure what the rush is here.

He wants to come.

No one else can afford/ needs him.

He has a very good relationship with ten Hag.

Barca needs to sell him before doing any other transfer business, and their fans and manager won’t want this hanging over them, whereby we can continue to offer for alternative targets.

It’s an excellent negotiation position to be in, and saving 10m euros or so could mean the difference between a number 1 and 2 target elsewhere.

@ehsanul we found your second account mate, this was not really discrete. You are not allowed to have multiple accounts, only MadWinger aka Oleboiii aka Coy Keane is.

Absolutely correct. It feels very much like Sancho last season, where we ended up getting him for a very reasonable price, considering his valuation the previous summer.

He is just blabbering, trying to be hip and gain some relevance. Salah leaving Pool was another Choccy special, when he is staying. Looking for attention. You can spot the same characters on the forum regularly.

Look at the information at hand.

FDJ publicly says he loves Barcelona and doesn't want to play elsewhere.

Barcelona need to raise £430m ASAP

Barcelona tell FDJ he has to leave

No other club is interested in him aside from United.

He reluctantly agrees to consider United because of ETH.

Sounds great!

Vidal's knee
I feel like some people are willfully ignorant, or perhaps blissfully so, about this. The current political climate is such that even allegations are enough to make sponsors wary. To say nothing of pending investigations.

This is doubly so for us, I imagine. We already have a mess with Greenwood on our hands and who knows how or when that will be resolved. I can guarantee Bissouma's name is an absolute non-starter in the scouting room.
I actually think so too. United will be very careful, and rightly so. They haven't looked good lately, with Greenwood, Ronaldo, inviting Giggs...

And if those other clubs were interested and he ended up at PSG or City you’d be sitting there pity-wanking about how we don’t try for midfielders like this and how badly run we are. Give it a rest, big man

What does this have to do with him joining us next season? Robben and Sneijder said they also love Real and only want to stay there etc. They both fell in love with Inter and Bayern and became legends, that is how football and life works. FDJ is a smart boy, dont you worry about him.

Only bit missing is you throw Di Maria in as an example, whereby he is a complete different character and wanted by a complete different manager he never worked under.

Your problem is you take a general explanation and try to squeeze everything in your bubble to suit your agenda. Same as the people saying all Argies are shit for United, that is why we should never try to sign one again. It is just too simple and general to make a conclusion on every player.

If you're looking at week-old reports, sure, but things change over time. Several reliable Barcelona journalists nowadays have reported that Frenkie's accepted his departure from Barcelona even if he wanted to stay. On top of that, reliable English journalists such as Laurie Whitwell, Charlotte Duncker, and Sami Mokbel are reporting that De Jong is open to a move, then there's no reason to ignore it.

The source is Muppetiers, they know nothing. Look at their twitter, they even admit the photo was posted late May.
They are a group of exploitative opportunists an absolute cancer to true transfer muppetry which should never be monitised.

Problem with ADM wasn't our desire to sign him. Problem was that player came here after he was literally forced out by Real. Adm didn't want to leave
I never said anything about our desire. Robben also was forced out and went on to crush it at Bayern, but you didn’t address that at all. Its the exact same scenario with a completely different result.

? Did you just close your eyes when all the clear signs of this deal being quite obviously only a matter of days away?
Oh he's comming, I'm on the train with him.
But with 20-ish unread pages I had hoped for more and got sad, that's all.

I've been out with my son all day and come home to 18+ pages of....... Nothing!

I'm ashamed of you all.
Page me when there's a clear sight of Frenkie's Le Dong.
Lots of cocks out, if that ain’t 18+ I don’t know what is.
