We wanted all three before they went Dortmund, they just wouldn't come to us at that stage of their career.
Yes, sadly we couldn't get them at the young age as they saw Dortmund as a great developer, seems it did the job for the three as well.

Is the lack of updates in this thread because people can't be bothered to post outside of individual player threads? Or is it because nothing is being tweeted from reliable journalists?

United are obviously going about their business quietly. BS tweets are not getting through this window so we are seeing less traffic. At least when you see a notification for the United thread it may be something worth reading

When I read that, what brilliant recruiting from Dortmund. It could be 300 million in sales!!!
Yeah they’re great at signing young talents and selling them on for huge profit but where does it ultimately get them? they never really have anything to show for it by way of major trophies. I suppose that’s not their fault though Bayern are head and shoulders above everyone else. They probably run the club as best as it’s possible to do so but it’s just not enough.

Great point Shinja, it would be tough to see these amazing players grow up and develop and all leave. You want to beat Bayern but it is nearly impossible. Yes, maybe once and then the cream leave. I remember thinking this about CR and him wanting out to go to Real.

We had Mason and probably Rashie, hopefully we can get one top liner or even superstar out of Amad, Pellistri, Hansen, Hannibal, Elanga, Garnacho, Vitek, Mainoo, Shola, Berry, McAllister etc.

Can't spell Mkhitaryan
Barcelona wants €100m for Frenkie De Jong, but is open to an offer of €80M fixed and the rest in variables. The player, meanwhile, is no longer against the idea of leaving — he's already had conversations with MUFC.....Frankie's first reaction was not wanting to leave the club - but knowing that Barcelona values making money with him and the interest of MUFC, who will be coached by Erik ten Hag, has made him reconsider and he's no longer opposed to an exit

  • Frenkie de Jong has been quiet about his future and is relaxed, he is waiting to understand what happens in Barcelona.
  • They want around €85m for De Jong this summer
  • Barcelona will have an internal meeting this week to understand how to move forward in the transfer market. This is one of the reasons why a deal for De Jong has not advanced
  • Ruben Neves is on MUFC's list and has always been appreciated but it depends on the fee. Wolves want €100m and United is not prepared to pay that, but a possible deal could depend on De Jong outcome
  • MUFC are exploring the possibility of signing Antony. He has been discussed internally and is a name Ten Hag has always considered. Still, no-bid but the player's agents have been in Europe in the past months meeting with many clubs
  • Timber is waiting to see what happens in the negotiations between #mufc and Ajax but talks are not at the final stages.
  • The feeling within MUFC is that they want to focus on signing a midfielder. It is still an open situation the centre-back targets
  • I see Pau Torres playing in the Premier League next season because he wants the move and has good chances to move. Timber is waiting for #mufc to update him on the situation with Ajax. Both players would be happy to join Man United
  • Ajax wants around €45-50m for Jurrien Timber. Pau Torres' release clause is around €55-60m but Villarreal could be open to negotiating for something less
  • It is important to clarify that MUFC is not going to spend crazy money. Good money, yes. But not something mad or crazy

Thanks to @Tom Van Persie in the Frenkie De Jong thread:

United are unwilling to overpay for De Jong hence their approaches to the alternative targets (unnamed in the article).
Negotiating tactic.

United and Barcelona are just fooling themselves with these press releases. Both clubs are desperate to do a deal.

There really is no good reason behind how slow we do our business. We have known since the start of last season that any number of players were either surplus to requirements or out of contract this summer...add the greenwood issue and the fact that the world and it’s dog knew ETH was the man but we dragged that out for a few months...

we install RR for a few months, the only benefit being his long term planning and ability to identify the right profile of player...but then discard him when we are about to get value out of him and seemingly ignore his common sense view that we need a shit load of new players.

you would think that our scouts/recruitment department would have finalised a list or potentials by January, sounded them out in that window for a summer move and had levers in place but we just seem to be very egotistical - we are Man Utd...Man Utd tax and all that bollox. Stop going for marquees then...buy fuking decent players with the right attitude and let’s get started.

Nice to see the club knows what negotiating tactics are. I wasn’t sure.
