I think De Jong, Eriksen, Anthony and 1 defender will be a really solid window.

Now someone will reply that we will still be shite without a DM.
That would be a great window.
FdJ, Eriksen, Antony, Martinez (who can also play as a DM) and maybe a Sangare would work.

A bit worried about Antony. If Ajax are selling Haller then maybe they won’t allow another sale.

I don't think so. Based on the farewell video to ten Hag, he will probably put in a transfer request just to be reunited with him.

Eriksen and De Jong would be decent additions. Another CM/DM would have been ideal (depending on where De Jong plays) but that's fine. The Martinez links popped up as soon as Timber talks were chopped down so pretty sure he'd play CB.

Eriksen, De Jong, Martinez, RB and RW would be a decent window.

De Jong and Eriksen agreed by next week and we can start to look forward to pre-season with some optimism.

We really should just get rid of the scouting department and start over.. they are fecking useless.
How often have we actually taken scouting department recommendations on board. Seems like most signings we have made over last 10 years are managers preferences

Does ten Hag only go for current and former Ajax players? Surely the new scouts would have some ideas when they came into the club.

Pretty sure Shaw and Herrera were scout signings. Honestly think they were the right players to sign even if they didn’t really work out.

De Jong and Eriksen will make such a huge difference to our team. Two very technical players who hardly ever do the simple things wrong (an underrated skill) and both very creative and hardworking. It’s not just what they’ll bring but what they’ll do for players like Donny and Sancho who will be reborn with likeminded players passing and moving around them.

if we’re looking at Martinez too, that would be very shrewd because he’s genuinely excellent in at least three positions and that will enable Ten Hag to deploy him where there are players that don’t take to the new style (he could play LCB, LB or DM).

How would we know? By all accounts we seem to disregard everything they say and either just buy who the current manager has some good feels about. Or whoever the fans are clamouring for on social media.

I know everybody is excited about EtH coming in, but if this article is true, isn’t just signing whoever the current manager wants, something we all agreed was bad and we wanted to move away from?

Honestly, I think any type of absolutist mentality is dumb. If Ten Hag has made a logical and compelling case for certain players and the scouts don't hate those targets then it's fine. If the scouts are screaming no then it gives me pause. Similarly, if the scouts love a player and the manager doesn't want him then that's not going to work. It's the whole point of the transfer committee and vetos.

Id agree with that, and it’s hard to tell from a throwaway line in a tweet exactly where along that line we are. Fingers crossed.

Completely agree with this. When you watch recent top-level Champions League matches it's striking how few basic errors these teams make. There are a few but mostly forced. The majority of the time these teams ping the ball about at top speed, all around the pitch, often under pressure.

United are many levels below that, and have spent at least 6 or 7 years not even trying to compete with these teams, relying on counterattacks and big players delivering big moments. If we're serious about changing this approach then yes we need 5 or 6 technical footballers to come in over the next 2 summers, and then we can also make the most of the technical players we already have (Sancho, Donny, some of the emerging youth players etc).

We have players in the middle of the park whose first touch is poor. Until they are replaced everything else suffers.

A Bola's report linking United to Evanilson is already getting weakened by the player's representative, Marcio Barros.

Source: Zero Zero

Marcio Barros on the United-Evanilson rumours:
To those responsible for managing Evanilson’s career, no official proposal has arrived, only polls from England. There was an approach from Brighton. If a formal proposal arrives, we will analyse the best for the player.
Basically, neither United nor Wolves have been confirmed to have approached for him at this time. Porto have set Evanilson's price to €80m. Jorge Mendes is involved this, though, which might explain why United got linked to him in the first place. For those of you who are interested, here's the original A Bola article:

I like how the media fakes a link with us for every player other big clubs sign. "United were also....." we are still the biggest in that way
