Sorry to be blunt but this is nonsense. 4 million quid is still 4 million quid no matter the size of the business.

If you throw that amount of money away left right and centre you will end up in a bad situation incredibly quickly.
That's right.

That kind of financial indiscipline could get us 500m in debt pretty quickly

Ah we've arrived at that boring stage where you know a transfer is in the bag and you're just waiting for official confirmation so you can start obsessing over the next target.
Yup. The calm before "the storm" and official confirmation of "fee agreed between the two clubs"

It might take another few days to get the Sky Sports News Breaking News Yellow Ticker Bar "Manchester United Agree Fee With Barcelona For Midfielder Frenkie De Jong"

but let's see, hopefully Sky Sports News give it the Breaking News Yellow Bar treatment today. They'll have it on the whole day because it's a HUGE transfer

Manchester United are going to "Break the Internet" like they do again and again every summer with big Marquee signings. Twitter will explode and will go crazy and social interactions will be Glazier Heaven!

That's right, throwing 4m to meet the seller's demands is not just spending 4m over our evaluation. but it also means all selling clubs will then be holding their ground at that sort of amount over our evaluation, we're going to have to buy a lot of players, that 4-5m racks up to 20-25 extra with 5 signings. It's not a good idea to. Our transfer strategy needs to change and we need to stop getting bullied by selling clubs because we're desperate for players.

Yeah, but think of the benefits, transfer junkies get their hit a few days earlier.

Those ™ body feint step overs are going to be a joy to watch.

Hasn't been a player like him in the Premiership since Modrić left Spurs and Silva left Shitty.

Exactly. It's also 4 Million off the companies bottom line profit which is a huge amount.

I have never looked at Utd's financials but lets just just say their Nett profit is at 5% that means to make 4 million profit you need to turnover 80 million....... All of a sudden you realise how important every penny actually is.

What's important is who we out beside him and who else we sign.

Put him beside any of our current Midfielders and they'll only drag him down

Am I right in saying that we're about to get him for a fair bit less than any news outlet had reported up until now?

Our club doesn't know how to read the room. United are under severe pressure to make signings after the disaster season they had last year. Their midfield is absolute wank and their fans would of put a lot of pressure on the club to make that signing.

We needed to sell for at least 85m with the variables being a lot lower for it to be worthwhile for us because as others have alluded to we really. Lack physicality in our midfield with out him.
we should offer him to chelsea, that offer is ridiculous. no way is he worth less than maguire
I guess Frenkies wages are on ridiculous level and lowers his value
Still can't get over the fee, it's actually absurd. 65m is basically Torres money ffs. These cnuts are fecking useless. Should be 75m base at the very least and 15m of add ons.
We always suck when it comes to selling
85m is the bare minimum and an ideal target is 90m imo. They need him desperately and we didn't even take advantage of that. They missed out on top 4 lost a bunch of players on a free and only basically have mcfred in midfield. After that horror season they would of paid 75m + add ons with ease if we held out.

Genuinely who they going to move Onto that won't cause massive backlash without having to spend as much if not more?
True. United got a good deal here. Joke of a fee for prime player.
Anything under 75m fixed is a failure imo.
Some takes from a Barca forum.

Fergie loved having midfielders who could change the tempo of the play, either through early forward passing or driving with the ball. Probably the reason tubby Anderson
He is the best tempo controller. He can either play the passes very quickly or sitting down gasping for air while the opponents are waiting for his next move. His tempo range is between 0 to 90 and it often caught opponents off-guard. Such as when he did nothing but stare at Szczęsny.

Very good deal.

He was my dream midfield signing the past few years.

I think he's an excellent player.

Weird that to a man they seem to miss that the “desperate” ones here are Barça, moreso
than United, it’s like they’ve head their collective heads in the sand for the past 18 months.
But then “levers”…
Yes, a lot of that is pure delusion. I don't know much about their situation but from the little I have read it is absolutely clear that they are in a dire situation financially. If this was a game of poker we'd definitely have the lions share of the chips.

Fair play to the club in all honesty. The deal looks good.

It'll be interesting to see who we play alongside him. You can imagine teams man marking him if we don't have another midfielder or a CB who can bring the ball forward.

Hopefully with the money saved we can stretch to get a CDM.

I’m not as convinced as some that we need a more defensive player alongside him, our biggest issue for me is having no-one who wants to dictate, set the tempo and create triangles in the middle of the park. Due to that we 99 times out of a 100 go out to the full backs.
Interesting to see what ETH is planning here.

Reading through their forum, they're generally sick of the people running their club so I think they're inclined to view it as them fecking up negotiations that should have been in their favour rather than a better deal not really being viable. There's a lot of "we're just going to waste the money on X" type negativity as well. Basically any stick to beat them with.
