This is just a face saving exercise from Barca's mouthpiece, Sport.

Of course they're going to say no player would ever want to leave such a wonderful club. Ignoring the fact it's a financial dumpster fire and doesn't offer any security to its players. Barca as we know it are finished. Finito.

Are you a Kiwi or something?
I'm not a native English speaker.

I listened to a couple of supposedly English people pronouncing Frank and I can't really hear any difference. That "a" in Frank might as well be an "e" as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly it's going to be "He resisted but ultimately had no choice" etc.

The Sport journalist who broke that story earlier is tier 5 on both the United reddit and the Barcelona one

Contracts are meaningless, money is fake, nothing means anything anymore. We are all hurtling through nothingness on a giant rock going into the abyss.
Well In life we also have the unintelligent.

Those of you who believe this new narrative might want to check yourselves once the deal is done. As clearly…. Some of you talk like your smart.

In an ideal world Barcelona wouldn’t sell him and he wouldn’t choose to leave, I think that is clear.

This is far from ideal for Barcelona and they are financially stuck at this point and have to sell him. FDJ knows this and United are at the front of the queue to buy him. He’s been told what he wants to hear by ETH and will join.

No player wants to leave their dream club, but it is what it is. I’m sure he is professional and smart enough to understand.

Ah fair enough. It's a big difference to my ear but I've the same trouble with some sounds in French.

Oh well, isn't this bringing out all the negative folk

Just a couple of things to remember:

- SPORT's job is basically to big up Barcelona.. The whole article translates (via Google, so maybe not the best) like a Barca fan wrote it and they couldn't understand why anyone would want to leave.
- No reliable journalist has come out with this. Nothing from Gerard Romero etc, who has been all over this story.
- We wouldn't go after a player for this amount of time without getting guarantees that a player wants to come. When was the last time in a big transfer that a bid was accepted for a player and then player actually turned the move down?

I'm not having it.
Yes. Player won't turn down so much money.

65 mil euro. If the player just earn a 10% cut, he will get 6.5 mil plus his name will spread worldwide.

I got a WhatsApp sent on from a mate of mine who is in the negotiating team for United. He said de Jong is off and the mods would be implementing a curfew from tomorrow night, no posting in the transfer forum after 8pm.

I would believe this if it contained a load of anti-vax or 5G stuff

I wouldn't be toooo disappointed if this deal doesn't go through.

I never expected us to get this level or calibre of player after the campaign we've just had.

The article talks about Frenkie even changing agents.. After the news of his agent being owed money

This is all posturing and face saving after the shit they’ve got for the deal over the last few days. If there was anything in this, Romero would be on it

Of course he would, he'd have produced a three-act play on it already.

How do you know?

The conversations could have been as follows?

Its quite clear that we looking at 1 CM, CB, RW. Which means the budget is set for those players.

The plan was to go from 80m what Barca wanted to what we offering. The saving in one deal meant that ETH can spend £15m on another player.

Its not rocket science.

Fans like you syaing "we aint that broke" but it means we would have overspent by £30m if the club followed your way.

1. Pay the money for De Jong which would have been £15m more
2. Buy a LB for £15m.

£30m is alot of money.
Well if you're going to invent conversations to come to a conclusion that I didn't discuss I'm not sure what point I'm supposed to respond on. An extra 15mil you've invented for what reason I've no idea, no one discussed paying more for FDJ.

The idea that we'd be waiting on FDJ savings to sign a LB whilst the funds for CB and RW (positions you think are a priority) are not dependent is ridiculous.

We've always picked up young cheap players with potential when the opportunity arises. They don't limit other signings, this is something the club have briefed plenty of timed.

If we were waiting on anything it would be to get a buyer for Telles first.

English Twitterati are trying to spin the news as a Barca PR disaster; the Spanish press are trying to portray the story in exactly opposite direction.

But if this deal doesn't work out, we lose out more than any involved party, IMO.

Actually Barca do because they'll have trouble signing new players

It's true though. We have a fixed budget.

With the fair chunk of it going on FDJ. If we use more of that budget on FDJ leaves less for others and that includes £15M on a LB.

How hard is that to understand?
