Bécause when it’s accepted consensus that the deal is done, journos won’t keep coming out with ‘breaking news’ every other hour to keep you hooked
Maybe so, but if i was a journo i would.

I dont know, the guy sitting next to me at the office is a Spurs fan and all he talks about is the three starting 11´s they already signed. I guess im just annoyed at the fecker.

De Jong being on holiday could be a factor in the delay. Too many journalists would have palms-on-face moments if this now fell through.

1st of July, new accounting year for foottball clubs. Wouldn't be surprised if this would be announced today or else very soon next week.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
Based on his talent. Nothing based on last season is relevant for any of our players really. Look beyond that, and you see a 22 year old who has done things before 20 that only Mbappe has matched in the past 30 years.

Though even if you look at last season where he still showed his talent in spurts, you can see stuff like this where it shows his value anyway:
I really don't get people blasting Sancho non-stop on here either. It was his first season in a harder league, coming into a completely dysfunctional team, and I think he did fairly well for that. On top of that, I don't get people saying "we paid 80M for that, he better tear the league to shreds single-handedly." Paying a high fee for a young player always suggests that you're investing in his potential to be that 80M player to some extent.

That players at our club don't improve anymore is a problem though because we have bought an unfinished player who still needs to develop further to reach his potential and if we don't manage to develop him further we will essentially have wasted money again.

and you keep telling yourself that everything is fine... maybe your faith will win us the league
I'm generally optimistic, granted, but I'm under no illusions that we're winning the league any time soon. I just don't see what anyone gets out of being so relentlessly negative.

My Barca supporting brother in law was adamant that this would only happen if it was done by June 30th. But I’m assuming Barca still need the money for other transfers, right?

There's only one United!
ETH, his staff and everyone involved would be as thick as shit if he doesn’t, so safe to say he wants it.
By wants it, he likely in a perfect World would stay at Barca, play is his best position and still have Messi in front of him, but if they are selling, a reunion with ETH at United has obvious lure for him.
Yes, i agree with you but i'm rather disappointed that he shows no willingness to come here.

If he had a choice between us and Barca? I think it would be a no-brainer for him.
Yes, it seems he would choose to remain at Barca.

First time since 2010 that United have not signed any player in the month of June.

You say this as though being a moan arse has any more of an impact on winning the league.

It's easy to default to negativity, takes very little critical thinking thinking or ability to do so. None of this is in your control, there's literally zero value to getting wound up about it. You don't make a difference by having a negative outlook, you're literally just impacting yourself, you'll just spend more time annoyed/frustrated/pissed off.

And funnily enough the period following 2010 has been our most miserable for several decades.

Maybe signing players in the month of June doesn't actually have an impact on whether or not you have a successful season?
