We are really fecked next season if he leaves, not going to lie. Absolutely nothing in the striker market left, and all the options have moved.

Only viable one would be Abraham but I doubt Roma would sell.
Yip, I don’t think people actually get the reality of this (even if you don’t like him) this is very bad and we may have to scrap other transfers to fix the forward line which leaves us in the exact same position as last season.

That would say even more about him

I agree with you in that he’s definitely not the future. I wouldn’t want to keep an uncommitted player too to be brutally honest. The problem now is, I can’t see anyone taking him. 38 years old on 500k per week is Ronaldo.
The man is said to be worth north of half a billion quid. If he wants CL football he will surely play for 250k to 300k a week at the age of 37/38.

If money is all he cared about he'd stay at Utd as nobody is giving him what we are any longer.

I'm sorry, but what top honours would he exactly be fighting for at Napoli?
Any serious team wanting to win major trophies won't touch Ronaldo, he just wants UCL football, he'd go to Sporting right now as long as he can keep the distance between him and Messi at the top of the goal scoring charts.

You’re being a tad over dramatic. There are plenty of players available and United could look to do a swap deal with the club he may or may not move to. Plus it’s all speculation right now. I’m not fussed either way, good if he stays or leaves for different reasons.
Give me some suitable names... genuine realistic options for CF.

The are very limited and this is the reality.

I think his goals could be replaced in house, Sancho, Rashford and Bruno are much, much better than they performed last season and part of the reason their output was reduced was they too often deferred to him. We would still need someone to lead the line but I wouldn’t go like for like thinking our CF necessarily needs to be our main source of goals. I dont watch much football out of the EPL these days but someone like Werner would improve us, a high work rate player with pace that creates space for the others to exploit even if he‘s not a prolific goal scorer .

Ronaldo leaving in 09 sucked. Ronaldo leaving at the age of 37 is meh.

Interms of team harmony and (hopefully) introducing players he's previously worked with, I feel Hag may be quite content in Ronaldo buggering off.

But goals win games and we're sort of fecked in that area outside of Ronaldo
.
Sure, the worry is who do we replace him with but I think, privately, Ten Hag will be a bit relieved that he wants out. He doesn't fit the type of football ETH plays at all, he won't put the required effort off the ball which the manager's system demands and he isn't much of a team player. The problem is replacing him and his goals.

Martial and Rashford are completely off the boil whilst we don't look like we have the budget for a striker and then there is the issue of there being no obvious choice to sign with little to no ground work. But if we are lucky and one of thenguys already in the clubngets back to top form then this could turn out to be a positive turn for us.

Told ye straight out it would be the ronaldo show and the transfer would turn out to be an expensive disaster that in the short to medium term would more or less set us back. Same as at Juve, they were happy to get rid. He got a few goals and got us out of a weak CL group. I think we could have done that with a more together team and a younger long term striker project. We also probably would have finished quite a bit higher in the league than we managed to by the end
It was so badly thought through. He should be City's problem. If we'd have put his £500k a week towards the midfield last summer instead it could have been us signing Haaland.

Wait…you mean playing a 38 year old poacher who doesn’t run channels, can’t hold the ball up, has the worst pressing stats in football, doesn’t run in behind and falls over off balance any time the wind touches him isn’t great for the team!?

What about how great he is behind the scenes though? He has such a “top mentality” and is such a great “leader” that he screams ‘why not the youngsters’ whilst sitting down on the bench steps after being taken off against Brentford. He’s so “professional” he fecks off abroad with a fake injury after being told he’s dropped against City. He’s so wonderful for team spirit that he holds senior meetings demanding we play 2 up front without the captain - someone he undermined from minute one causing serious divides in the camp. He’s bringing “Standards” back though isn’t he as he plays a key part in our worst ever PL finish following a 3rd and 2nd place finish.

Get him the feck out. I’m sure we’ll find a way to cover his 17 goals once we return to being an actual team. ETH needs buy-in for his system and the last thing he needs is this egotist manchild throwing his toys out of the pram behind the scenes challenging his authority - it was never going to work. Hopefully the Ronaldo cultists who put him ahead of the club, ignore the stats, the stories from reliable journalists and the fact we were far shitter after he arrived will feck off with him.
This. Totally bang on.

Please feck off and let ETH build a young team and implement his football. And yeah, so much love for the club. Legend my arse. He could have told us like few weeks ago so we didn't miss out on Nunez. Fecking wanker.

Letting go of Ronaldo and Pogba will benefit United quite a bit imo.
It absolutely will. One player came here for a world record transfer and contributed very little and came nowhere close to justifying his fee (not to mention the circus surrounding him every year), the other is a 37-year-old striker who's becoming increasingly immobile but demands he plays every week or there's going to be drama. He was not THE problem last season, but he's not the solution moving forward, either.

Obviously, we need to replace these two, but these two departures on their own are a positive.

If we can't replace him now, who were we going to replace him with next season?

A goalscorer he is, but he offers zero to the team and tbh was quite a frustrating watch for the majority of the season

He can go, specially if he wants to...
He didn't bring goals, he soaked them from the rest of the team

We do need to bring at least one striker though

Don't really care in the grander scheme of things. We need a younger mobile CF anyway. But couldn't this have been made clear at the end last season? We're now in July and have probably made no inroads into signing a new striker.

He's gone then.

The saying no player is bigger than the club is true but nobody is stopping Ronaldo leaving if he want's out.

Spot on. Although his fan club will have you believe we're lucky to have him and he's been doing us a favour

Not really a surprise, expected even with no CL. I'll be bothered only if we don't get a replacement forward. I trust EtH to find a way to make it work without a recognized no. 9.

He loves us but he's off at the thought of a couple more CL goals beside his name.

The tosser.
Football is his profession and he is at the end of one of the best professional football careers in history. If I was in his position I would want to be somewhere where I can play in the top competitions now more than ever because each season now could be his last at the top. Why would you want to stay somewhere where there is a rebuild that could take a year or two that he ultimately won't be part of?

Stop him? Push him out the door!

Well if we had the budget for a top striker I wouldn't be too bothered. A crisis meeting would be needed if Ronaldo goes because we'd need at least 2 quality attackers in and our budget wont allow that.

No way imo, he just won’t do that. It’s why I can see a scenario where he’s on the bench for Brighton having made an apology and ‘reaffirmed his commitment’ to the club.
