About as good of a transfer as you can get on a free.

Worried about his heart condition of course, but I think he would be a great squad player and finally we might be able to rest Bruno once in a while.

Great signing if it goes through. We now have 2 creative midfielders with great workrate.

What took him so long to decide between Brentford and Man Utd?
He'd been on vacation until recently. There were plenty of acceptable reasons to renew with Brentford (not all footballing reasons). For all we know we only offered 2 years, but he said he wanted 3 years if he was going to move his family up from London. And then maybe we relented to his demand this week as we want him in before the tour on Friday.

Impossible for us to know, even if they tell us a plausible reason.

While being far from exciting, it's a sensible deal. Replaces Mata and Lingard, gives us options at 8 and 10, experienced international level player who will buy into and reinforce the new culture change. All for free (plus wages).

Still, it's not sitting well with me that our first two signings are at left back and attacking midfield which are well down the list of priorities for upgrade. Nothing is quite making sense to me at the moment.
Totally disagree, this is an exciting, sensible signing for us. If we get FDJ in as well, then we suddenly have a decent midfield for the first time in what feels like forever.

Who is the other one?

Sensible signing and one that I’m happy to have on board. Hopefully picks up from where he left off last season at Brentford as he done really well there.

When was the last time we had a centre mid who could pass the ball like that? Too long ago.

Bruno can pull off the same, but Eriksen is far more consistent and accurate.
Just watched that highlight real, although he is predominantly right footed, he's got a real sweet left foot pass on him.

Cracking signing this by the way.

@el diablorojo sorry but we will look after him.
At least he left to join one of the biggest clubs in the world and not for oil money or, god forbid, Fulscum ;)

He is such a classy player and I am convinced he is much better than those people who are underwhelmed by United signing think and will do well.

I know its only a highlight reel, but it does remind me of Scholesy and what he used to do in centre mid.

I know this has been done to death, but in no way is De Jong and Eriksen a complete midfield - who else is in there? Are you suggesting they play in a two? Or that Eriksen plays further forward instead of Bruno, in which case it's arguable it's an upgrade at all, albeit it's another option.

Lovely to see a manager give importance to passing and playmaking the way ETH is. If Eriksen has no lingering physical/ medical issues then this is the kind of smart signing we all wanted us to do. A player who has skills we need and free / on the cheap. Well done.

Been sceptical and remain a bit torn on this. On the one hand I'm not super happy that we're signing past-peak veterans, and also it isn't immediately apparent to me why we sign him and exactly what problem he is supposed to solve (although I'm alive to the possibility that's just me not getting it). On the other hand, he is a very good player, who showed at Brentford last season he can still have an impact, if there's a good plan for how to use him. And let's face it, we're not going to have the funds to get everything we need the costly way.

This is great news, will bring much needed composure to our midfield and help us dictate the tempo more. IF we get FDJ as well then our midfield will be light years better than it currently is. Still need that CDM but I'm sure ETH can make it work with who we have until we can bring someone it.

Fred - FDJ - Eriksen is doable in a lot of games.

We should still sign one defensive / holding midfielder even if it's not someone top class.

I think he’ll be a good signing. Classy player, experienced and ultimate pro. Not sure what people don’t like (probably age).

The Caf thinks every player falls off a cliff at 30! Depends on the player. I think Eriksen is clever though and can play on for a while, much like Modric.

Sceptical that this isn't a reactive signing, rather than part of a coherent strategy or squad plan.

Reminds me of Schweinsteiger. Is Eriksen still good enough to be of value to Utd?

Verbally agreed?

What if it was just a United fan asking him at the correct moment when he ordered something in a restaurant?

Waitress : "Would you like Tartar sauce to go along with your fish, Mr. Eriksen?"
Pexbo : *appears out of nowhere* "U joinin United mate?"
Eriksen : "Yes please"

Breaking news: Eriksen VERBALLY AGREED to join United, giving United fans Ereksion.

Nope, but I would happily stick Fred in with those 2. ETH uses a 4-3-3 formation. Then we also know that he likes his centre backs to step into midfield. The problem we had before was that we had McFred and then basically no one. McFred is a nothing midfield.

Feels like this was done a long time ago, just a matter to announce.

Another sensitive & reasonable deal done.

Buzzing about this for multiple reasons:

There's the football side and then there's the more important human side. What a comeback story for the man. He's an inspiration.
