So, am I understanding this right..

If he stays there, they’ll force him to take a massive pay cut and forego a shit load of money owed to him?
and from what I am understanding, if he leaves they expect him to 'forego a shit load of money owed to him' too....

Things are going so swimmingly well that the president of Barca has twice said that the player isn't for sale, and I don't know how many times the player has said he wants to stay in Barcelona.
If you have insider knowledge, then hats off to you...;)
Well United have said Ronaldo isn't for sale, and we're planning for a season with him and expect him to be here... does anyone realistically believe that? I know I don't.

And yes I know you'll say Ronaldo has told us he wants to leave but the club holds the final decision and to the media, they're saying no he's not going

How are Barca trying to scam De Jong? Can you elaborate on that?

Everything else you say is true and I don't see why Frenkie would be bothered by it. He will get paid, he doesn't care who Barca owes and how much.
They way I understand it, and this is all speculation I don't know if that's true, is that the deferred payments (€16 million) are included in his contract with Barcelona, and Barcelona are trying to get out of that if he goes to Manchester United. There also seems to be some issue with his agent's commission, but I don't know enough about that.

As for De Jong, I was just clarifying his situation, he doesn't really need to do anything because he has all the leverage. The only issues with that would be if Barcelona default sometime in the future, particularly if they continue as they have, and if he gets punished by not being played (this is usually illegal, but it's possible).

To be honest if I were him I'd just stay at Barcelona and hedge my bets on them not going tits up.

That was made up by the press. Bayern never really negotiated with Haaland. The Haaland package was just insane money.

Salihamidciz only met Haaland once when he was in Munich anyway for a medical. That's all. Bayern never spoke to his agent.
And that's the only reason you didn't do the deal, which obviously didn't sit well with your no 9.

If Barca want Ronaldo. I would include Ronaldo in the De Jong deal.

De Jong and Patrick Schick from Bayer Leverkusen

Tadic ------> Haller really good relation and connection

Eriksen & De Jong --------- > Patrick Schick relation at Old Trafford

Raphinha/RW - Eriksen - De Jong - Bruno - Rashford + Schick. The ideal 6 to go for. Harder to come up with a better 433 and 6 combination...in this current transfer market.

if we can't get this over the line, then it's solely because de Jong loves being fecked over and over again by Barcelona. People will blast United if he does, but what really can you do?

still confident it'll happen.

Murtough has agreed a broad deal. This is on Ten Hag if de Jong does not want to come that badly, it is his target.
No
Its on Murtough, because he shouldn't be wasting his time agreeing deals for players who do not want to sign for the club period.
And also a deal with Barca is not agreed.

He might need to stay to avoid being fecked over by them. Might be the only way he can collect on the deferred wages. Might be a large part of the reason why hes happy to stay at barcelona it being a thinly disguised 'feck you, pay me' towards the board.

Stone literally has a piece out this afternoon stating a broad agreement is in place for de Jong. The hold up is either Barcelona or the player himself, this is not Murtough's fault. I am sure Ten Hag was presented with targets and this is the one he has identified. He knows de Jong better than Murtough. He can text de Jong, they're on a first name basis. I am sure United are holding their nerve because they feel this can materialise.

Would be a bit ridiculous. Im sure ETH asked de Jong if he would join Manchester United if Barcelona accepted an offer. If de Jong had said ''nah mate dont waste your time'' than ETH wouldnt have bothered trying to sign him. Nobody likes to have their time wasted right?

I refuse to believe we are so stupid to chase a player for that long without making sure he wants to come.

Barca want him to stay so much he has to take a pay cut !! . So imo FDJ has told them I don't want to go after them Barca agreeing a fee? So realy the ball is in FDJ court, Barca don't realy value him to ask him to take a cut in pay for the privilege of playing at the camp nou.
UTD obviously will match his wage at least otherwise a offer would not have gone in .

Over to you FDJ... wait for window to close, this will drag on for a lot long I think until one of them Concedes .

A case of "lets see who blinks first" between FDJ's agents and barca.

Just need to hurry up and come to a compromise on the payoff, and we can announce him maybe for the later legs of the tour.

Fabregas all over again, player doesn’t want to leave club don’t really want to sell, but we are acting some one with a cringy crush that just can’t take no for an answer.
this couldn't be more different than the Fabregas situation. Barcelona didn't have financial issues back then and could happily slam the door on any transfer.

also, "the club don't really want to sell" is BS. Don't buy Laportas snake oil, they need this transfer to happen even moreso than we do.

It's a shame there isn't a proper alternative on our radar, as I'd much prefer we don't sign him and they're resigned to paying him that €93m or whatever they owe him.

Idiotic club trying to drag it out until the last day as a damage limitation exercise. Serves no benefit to anyone...

This is exactly why Barcas comments need to be taken with a pinch of salt...
They're telling the media what they want to hear and telling United something else. ETH must be certain that de Jong wants to join, otherwise he knows he's putting himself at a severe disadvantage this season by chasing a player that doesn't want to come

Well if Haaland had been available for 50 million and a salary of not over 15 million gross a lot of clubs would have shown serious interest.
Bayern officially always stated an extension with Lewandowski has been their clear priority.

Lewandowski is the last player who should be upset. He never really showed why loyalty and every other year was flirting with moves to Spain.

Exactly my point. Frenkie has all the leverage in the situation.

He has contract and doesn't press for a move. It is a big problem for Barca, even if Xavi wants him, and I assume they'll reach an agreement where Barca pay him, either now or in parts a big chunk of the money they owe him, he will forgive a small percentage, end up getting way more than that as signing bonus with us and basically have a massive golden parachute for leaving

I wouldn't take Romano seriously as far as reporting on the intricacies of the deal or the players preference. During Rangnick's interim stint, Romano consistently reported about how Rangnick and ten Hag would work closely together on recruitment and how Rangnick played a key role in bringing ten Hag to United.

The likes of Ornstein, Stone, Ducker etc reported that Rangnick didn't have a say in the appointment of ten Hag, and we also now know that ten Hag wasn't very keen on working with Rangnick.

This is just getting weird now. Barca need to sell him, he's reluctant to come, but seems to be resigned to it, right?

Everyone knows Barca's financial woes. I just don't get what's holding this all up.

Only thing I can think of is they're hoping someone else will come in for him and up the price, or some miracle cash injection is made to the club.

If the season started tomorrow, they couldn't even play their new free signings right? Honestly, no idea why anyone would go there right now.
