Surely he won't kick up a fuss like this without having offers on the table, otherwise he'll look embarrassing by the end of the window if he ends up staying with us due to lack of offers.
Well it's starting to look like Chelsea are the only vaguely interested party.

Fantastic news. New era means not having really old legs in the team.

Doesn’t look like anybody is beating the door down to get him

I’d suggest everyone get used to seeing Ronaldo in blue I just can’t see any other suitors taking him on with the wages.

He is obviously still an incredible player and one of the best in the world but I didn’t think he’d work in the system we are looking to play now. It will be interesting to see how this evolves but I’m not loosing sleep over it.

Maybe the club sat on this while they pursued some new commercial deals and the planned pre-season tour. The obvious problem here is lack of interest in his services. And we've not been linked with a striker yet, have we?

I don't blame him for wanting to leave with the window we've had. I respect him for actually thinking of staying with no UCL football and the club hasn't acted in the market while our rivals for top 4 have all strengthened except Chelsea as a result of an owner change. Nunez to Liverpool hurt, period. I'm sure the club made assurances to him for him to stay and that they've not followed through on them.

He can still stay IF they make it right and there is still time to do that. Stop wasting time and announce 3 signings now and Cristiano will be in training the next day.

"...told Arnold that their client would not be staying if they failed to qualify for the CL"

No one is asking if he'd like to stay or not, he signed a contract that says he'll play for the club until 2023.
He even signed a 25% pay cut in case they don't qualify for CL.

As much as I'd like him to leave and not create a huge problen for ETH before the season starts, I wish there would be more clubs holding their players accountable for their contracts.
I mean if said players turn shite a year into their 5 year contracts, they still have to be paid for the remaing 4 years..
Same with Lewandowski at Bayern, requesting to leave just because the club talked about buying another striker?! Let them play some reserve football to bring those egos back to earth.

There’s nothing obvious about that at all.

if we manage by some miracle to sell him to Chelsea for 10 m, that is a total of 36m saved. Just invest that 36m in another player.

So why have we not planned for it? Hope the club have something up their sleeve.
we tried for nunez but he opted for liverpool. Maybe he wants to assess Martial first before dipping elsewhere

I wouldn't trust the custis story even though he has been marginally more reliable in recent months. He still has a hard on for bad United news.

I noticed Martial in one of the training videos looking half arsed as ever. He's not the answer.
 I mean he’s always going to be languid that’s just his character, but even he presses more than ronaldo so that’s a start at least.

we don’t have a great deal of options.

starting Ronaldo is effectively like starting with a one-goal lead but a one-man disadvantage.
I saw this quote in the Athletic today, and thought it sums up the for and against Ronaldo discussion quite well.

Ronaldo to Chelsea cannot and will not happen. Why would we give them a striker when they are our rivals?

Why is that a miracle? They have no striker and he guarantees at least 20 goals a season. Give your head a wobble.

At this rate we should give 'Ronaldo fan of the week' awards soon.

Those comments were reported months ago - nothing to do with this current drama.

Ronaldo had apparently said he couldn’t believe things like the pool hadn’t been updated/changed since he left. Frankly he’s got a point if that’s true.
What pool?

I’m sure you’ll enjoy the shed end or whatever next season
Ronaldo to Chelsea cannot and will not happen. Why would we give them a striker when they are our rivals?
Because it weakens them

It’s going to suck if no one wants him. Highly likely though because this time last year we didn’t want him either.

I can’t see them doing it, he won’t press or do any of the ball work. I imagine this is a case of the new owner getting a dose of the woodies
In reality it’d be as bad as trying to fit lukaku in

No surprise at all Bayern doesn't want him, they've always struck me as one of the most sensible clubs around. Chelsea might take him as a new owners' sign of some sort but dont know if we'd sell him to them.
