The 30th was supposed to be a big day. Then Wednesday was supposed to be a big day. I'm starting to wonder.
I remember weeks ago people were joking De Jong would go on holiday and prolong an already tedious saga.

I get that, honestly. Even though I get dragged into debates that make me look negative. But I also want to talk about something without it being instantly dismissed simply because it doesn't fit the agenda of certain posters.

You questioned if I even support United  You're acting like a child over this whole thing. I hope you're not just some kid at your first transfer rodeo actually as I'll feel pretty bad about calling you out.

I've said we need to wait and see if it's genuine. I just don't feel the need to try to surpress negative info. Are you Vladimir Putin by any chance?
You seem like such a negative individual. I feel sorry for you.

I reckon United are playing this well, and not bowing down to Barcelona’s demands. United can afford to be patient in my opinion as Barcelona are the more desperate party here. The Chelsea link feels like a desperate play from Barcelona.

So if Chelsea are confirmed to be going all in as he says... why are no one else confirming it?? It's big news yet no reputable outlets have even given it a mention.
Look, I have no idea what's true and wrong, but when the first mention of us signing De Jong surfaced it came from Romero, and it took about 2 days before reputable journos in England confirmed. Maybe that's exactly the case here. Or maybe he's putting pressure on United under Barcelona's request.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus

Nope, just open and realistic. None of this bothers me mate, whoever we sign and whoever plays for us, I will support. It's actually a much better place to be than where you are right now. If FdJ wants to join us then it'll 100% happen this summer. We'll pay up, he'll eventually take a reduction in repayments. If not, then he obviously wasn't that bothered and I'm glad I lost no sleep over it.

It wouldn't take journos close to Chelsea to confirm the news if it was real. I imagine they'd get confirmation in minutes if they wanted too via their sources and you just know they'd all want to be the first to break it as an exclusive.

The fact no one has makes me think this is yet another ploy from Barca

Chelsea's interest was first reported a week ago. This info hasn't really come out of nowhere.

And if they don’t then they haven’t. If we sign De Jong and a centre back then suddenly United are having the much better window. For all the talk of how poor we’ve been in the market, Chelsea haven’t signed anyone yet.
Sterling? He is a guaranteed starter. We signed a back up LB and a good player in Eriksen who may just be rotating with Bruno.

Maybe so, but Romero seemed to just be backing up another source saying its confirmed, so if you want to play it like that, Romero wasn't even the first to have this info... someone else was (Revelo).

The last sentence in your post is exactly what's happening, we've seen a million times before in past transfer windows, it's the classic play.

To be honest, think I need to take a break from all transfer related news and just see what we're dealing with come first day of the season. All beyond our control.
I've been feeling a lot like this in the last few days. Easy to get all jumped up about it, but it makes no difference.

The glazers will do what they do, we'll almost certainly be a long way off the ideal preparation, plenty of important changes will happen way too late, not at all, or one of the next three transfer windows. Sancho and Fernandes being the stand out multi transfer window negotiations as examples.

Can easily see all scenarios for de Jong, might change this summer, might be Jan, might be next summer! The biggest problem is how limited our focus is. There are a shite lot of players in the world surely we should be mixing up the plan, I.e. if not option 1 in position 1 then how about option 2 or 3 and we'll spend that money to get option 1 elsewhere. Or maybe for midfield you get two decent midfielders rather than 1.

Arguably getting de Jong alone isn't a great strategy. He can likely do things the rest of the squad can't so you end up needing a plan with de Jong and another without. He won't play every game and you have injuries to manage.

Rinsing him for too many games will cost you form eventually. Rashford and Bruno have both been overplayed and ultimately it's massively impacted their form. In the case of Rashford this may never recover given surgery impact.

By who? Twitter? I am following this pretty closely, through multiple outlets and I haven't seen anything credible linking Chelsea until this morning. Maybe random backpage tabloids, but nothing worth paying attention too. Romero and Romano are worth paying attention to. I know people hate on Romano now, but that gives him even more reason to make sure he is accurate when he puts something out, because that's what he's become, a purveyor of known information.

Good, like any United fan should.

I post my thoughts and opinions like anybody else on here. If you disagree with them then fine, that's your right.

That's the point of this forum.

The only thing we have over them is the dutch connection factor. Could be true he prefers them. IF chelsea are really interested that is.
Well if that's true and he's more interested in Chelsea then United, I fully expect a United brief today at some point. Of course there likely won't be

I reserve belief on the Chelsea news, but as a player I would have serious reservations about moving to Chelsea until they start to replace some of the players they have lost
Chelsea , if you exclude the on loan Saul, have lost 3 squad players. Christensen, Rudiger and Lukaku. If you exclude Grant Utd have lost 5.

Anyone know why FCB can't make some sort of a deferred payment plan here? 1M / yr starting in 2025 or something like that?
It's not just up to them how they pay back the deferred wages. They've presumably made some kind of agreement already, and if the player won't budge from that, it's not as though Barcelona can just go, "Actually we're doing it like this instead." Presumably the players will have signed a legally binding agreement, otherwise they're complete idiots, and Barcelona can't deviate from that unless the players consent to it. At the end of the day, it's a lot like owing money to the bank: the debtor can't just decide on a different payment schedule.

It’s not illegal if it’s renegotiated legally and Frenkie accepts it.
I don't think it's enforcable. If you're owed wages, and you leave your job, you don't just cease being owed the wages.

They could give us the obligation as we're essentially buy out his contract and a premium to get him, but he is owed his contract, simple as really.

It’s very doubtful we’re bought a starting player for any of the defensive positions though, looks extremely likely we’ve signed a cheap young talent to replace Telles.
Why wouldn’t that make sense?
Yes but like I said, CB and RB is more urgent. Having Dalot/AWB on the right all season would be terrible and we're a Varane injury away from watching Lindelof/Maguire partnership again.

Aye spite ourselves to stick it to another club. Love it.
why exactly are we spiting Ourselves? Barca are obviously just a moronic club to deal with just tell Laporta to feck off and leave them in the lurch.

Plus De jong isn't worth all this nonsense. People banging on like he's the best midfielder in the world when he's not even the best at barca.

They've been linked with Matheus Nunes today as a replacement for him. Frenkie could be an option. Think Jorginho has 1 year left on his deal.
Jorgino does indeed only have one year left and many seem to think he will be gone in this window but there are other midfielders who almost certainly wont be in the first team squad next season such as Berkley, RLC and yes even Kantewho like Jorgingo is entering the last year of his deal

This sounds like a completely nothing story. I'm sure any of the top 20 clubs will 'admire', 'follow', 'keep tabs on' all of the top 20-40 players in every position!

The article itself seems to spell out its not a priority position and it would be very strange to go big on a non priority position.

Who? Relevo? They really aren't.

I also dont think FdJ will join us, but relevo are a new source who have poached many of the top Spanish journos
Bit like the Atlantic, and they aren't exactly 100% reliable. Funny how these sources haven't had any other info though. Who knows... let's see what the UK journos say
