How the feck is it a weird take? If he doesnt want to come here then we should move on!!
I think it's weird that people still think we're just blindly negotiating with Barcelona in the hope he'll say yes at the end of it, We would have quite clearly sounded him out first and he's said he's keen on coming.

Weird take.
It's just the same stuff over and over again. He doesn't want to leave, then reports saying he's open to leaving, then he doesn't want to leave. It's just getting a bit daft.
How about instead of rehashing the same stories over and over, these journos should wait until there is actual news to report

Fairly sure if he didn't want to come here we wouldn't have bothered with all this and he would have said so to ETH. He is not going to say he wants to move because Barca are trying to stiff him for the 17M in deferred wages they owe him and so he is using the only leverage he has to make them pay up which is to stay put and feck up their wage structure. Once Barca agree a payment plan he will be on the first plane out of there.

Thats what i believe too. We wouldn't be stupid enough, and the agents wouldn't be stupid enough to say to United that he's open to the move, then go back to them and say he categorically doesn't want to move. I mean what the actual feck? I think these guys are just using the same stuff over and over because they have no idea

I suppose at the end of the day it's views and traffic, and that = money. It's win win for them, they're wrong, they get cash. They're right, they get cash and credibility

FdJ update: is currently in Barcelona and may or may not be transferring to Manchester depending on whether Barcelona do or don’t wish to sell @gerardromero

Did the agreement between the two clubs not contain a compromise on paying the 17M between them or was that erroneously reported?

Sometimes things just don't work out. Players might enjoy being at a club but they get moved on in football. That's just life.

Is he happy in Barca? sure. But they need to sell him so he needs to put his bigboy pants on and start fresh.

Surely even Utd wouldn't be daft enough to send out a delegation to Barcelona yesterday if they know he has no intention of leaving whatsoever

It wasn't a delegation. It was the top guys haha. They're determined to get him and wanted to get involved personally to get it done.
By all accounts it is, it's just up to de Jong to accept that his dream club would rather kick him out and be done with him than have him in the club

Agreed. Have we not learned anything over the past 7 or 8 years?
Why do fans still want us to sign players who don’t want to play for us. I don’t get it.

By saying he doesnt want to leave Barcelona. Did you watch Romanos video?
To be fair, Romano is just sticking with the same story he's had for a while now, because in the public eye, there is no new info, so he has to keep the story going somehow.
He has no idea what de Jong is thinking/planning. The fact he's said de Jongs agents have said to United he has no intention of joing is the biggest load of BS going. It's been reported by journos much more reputable than him that his agents have said he's open to joining.

To be fair, quite often to the media. But he's also saying he won't take a pay cut, which barca have said he absolutely must do to stay.
Barca want him out whether he likes it or not
From what I read, he says he's happy in Barca and doesn't want to leave.

Not seen him say he doesn't want to come to United.

To which he should reply "check my contract you cnuts". Its more accurate to say that Barca must find a way to make FdJ happy if they want him to leave.

Exactly, but if he stays on his current contract, he's going to pretty much destroy the club. By all accounts, he's been told it's pay cut or get out, and Xavi isn't reportedly too bothered about him going as he has better players in the squad.
Imagine being told by the director either cut your wages or get out, then being told by your manager that he really doesn't care if you go and STILL saying he won't leave.
You can use your own imagination as to why he's saying that... he wants his deferred wages and doesn't want to give up any loyalty bonus by handing in a TR

Big difference between saying he doesn't want to leave Barcelona and him saying he doesn't want to come to United.

Also, you really think EtH would waste his time on a player that doesn't want to come here? FdJ has a good relationship with EtH and his agent has a good relationship with the club. I'm pretty sure they know whether or not he wants to come.

Also.. One of Barca’s most reliable reporters claims that this deal is done.. magically, less than 24 hours later, Barca sign Raphinha…

Coincidence.

There is also talk that this won’t be formally done until Barca pull another lever, so if that’s the case, then this could all be done bar the formalities. Won’t stop people losing their shit over nothing updates though.

Some people need to step back and realise that it’s not THAT important

Pretty damn sure neither of them want to damage their reputation with EtH. The agent too, i'm certain he doesn't want to damage his relationship with the club, not when he has other clients here. Plus it's of no benefit to him to lie to us. Barca won't drop their pay cut demand, and de Jong won't accept it

You kinda get the feeling that Romano is the god, the almighty untouchable transfer guru.
Yes he's got a lot right, but as others have pointed out, a lot of the times, he just confirms what others have said with a Here we go haha. Not going to lie, i do rate him, but when you have reporters who are very close to the club saying something very different, it's hard to believe Romano
