If we could get De Jong then its a solid window. Ideally we need a RB, RW and a striker if Ronaldo goes but that's asking too much. Would be satisfied with Malacia, Martinez, Eriksen and De Jong.

We definitely need to sign a Right winger/foward, two, if Ronaldo goes. Also need a right back unless ETH is ready to place his trust on youth.

Duckers reports the total price for Martinez as £46m. His total salary will be just over £120k/week.
This feels like its true even if it might not be. I hope we aren't just going to continue to wait for him forever because it would be hard to sign anyone else late in the window. Feels like another week is more than enough time for the situation to have been sorted and if its not we should move on

It's not that late here in Canada, but yeah...I could get some more sleep.

What are you up to this late in Manchester?
Where abouts in Canada you from bud?

Martinez all done then. De Jong and another one in and we are moving in the right direction you'd think.

Be interesting to see if Ragnick was right about the number of transfer windows it would take to get the right mix.

Time will tell.

Maybe we can swap him with Anthony - at least he gets to play in the C.L then :)

Am I right in thinking that a weekend announcement of Martinez is highly unlikely given that stock markets are closed?

if he'd be willing to play for Atletico they he really would pimp himself out to anyone with CL football.
If he's willing to go there, he really has no shame.

If such tweets are taken at face value, there's no low he won't stoop to to get some more CL miles in.

Feel just signing something on the right side would at least provide us balance this season, don't have to sign both RB & RW this window.

Honestly just an innocent question. I guess we've had weekend announcements before then?
We announced Varane on a Saturday and paraded him in front of fans in the stadium. This whole stock markets thing has been proven to be nonsense.

If we get De Jong as well - suddenly our central midfield goes from our weakest to our, by far, strongest position. We will have roughly 10 players fighting for 3 positions

We will have a lot of players and will have massively improved the technical ability. Still fear we won't be able to name a properly balanced midfield without a defensive midfield or someone that is capable of effectively screening the defence. Looks like that player will be mctominay or Fred, neither is suited to the role

If he decides to use Martinez in midfield - it will look very balanced

I also think both Fred and Mctominay would benefit in the new system. When the whole team is pressing, it puts less emphasis on the two to cover for the whole team, and either of them playing next to a passer/tempo setter.
Both are decent box to box, either partnering De Jong would look much better.

Can’t wait until he fecks off as well.
If you don’t want to be here then leave. If anyone stays and tries to steal a wage then Ten Hag looks as if he’ll sort you out.
As least Cristiano is attempting to go, we now shouldn’t be scared to drop him if Martial picks up form.

A soft touch? You can’t force Barca to sell quicker than you’d like.

let me guess you want the club to “walk away”

We should be pushing alternatives to show we aren't willing to wait weeks, just maybe that might make them sort this wages mess quicker
