Bruno Fernandes said:
"I think we missed that for a while, and I think, for me, the way I see discipline is important,"

"For me, discipline is not only the way you play on the pitch, the position that you have, what you have to do, it's also off the pitch -- don't be late for the meetings, don't be late for the meals.

"I think that's really important because if everyone is on time and someone comes late, he should be punished and I think that's really good that he's doing that and for me amazing, because I like to be on time, so I won't have problems with that."
So for the last 3 years everyone was just showing up when they want and doing what they want?

Makes sense to be fair.

Will be interesting to see over time if the usual suspects will continue to knuckle down or eventually throw their toys out of the pram.

"I talk with the manager and he asks me what I am feeling about the game-plan and I said to him I had a coach at Sporting Lisbon (Marcel Keizer) who came from Ajax too and the way of things was quite similar and I had my best season with him."

Good to see that the Manager had come in and laid down the law, everyone will be required to pull into the same direction, no more second chances, this is it.

Good!

Let's see which players down tools and ask for a more matey manager.
I think in a lot of cases it was probably the lack of discipline or standard setting from the manager that would cause them to down tools in the first place. Why put the effort in when there's no direction to it and no one's going to bother to recognise it anyway.

Maybe the super egos would still be a problem but we've only got a few of those left and one wants to leave anyway and is nearly 40, and also isn't exactly the type to lack self discipline.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Did we ever get an explanation as to why Shaw missed the last game despite being in training and on the bench? I felt he was most to blame for the goal we conceded against Melbourne so wonder if that was ETH throwing down a marker.

I get everyone wants to beat on Ronaldo at the moment but he’d lap this kind of discipline up.

If reports were to be believed him being unhappy with the lack of it at the club is what pissed him off last season. He even went public with some of it.

Pretty much what the caf has been saying for 3 years. We are complete muppets but some things are obvious and the lack of standards/discipline was glaring.

A lot of what's been said since Ole left, doesn't paint his tenure in a good light whatsoever.

Hopefully this will result in a much more disciplined Bruno.

I remember Ole himself once said that he essentially lets Bruno do what he wants because every now and then it will result in a goal (and to be fair, that was when Bruno was at his best but not still great tactical instructions for an individual player).

I don’t think any of the players had any individual tactical instructions from Ole tbh. Just go out there and play.
